I liked USA Up All Night.

I could never stay up late enough to catch Elvira or the other midnight shows I always wanted to watch (Friday the 13th/Freddy's Nightmares).

Never cared for Joe Bob Briggs when he was on but he's alright now. I just didn't care for a country guy hosting edited movies at the time.

I like Svengoolie but I can't watch those old Universal movies without falling asleep. Last night was much better.

I watched USA Up All Night the first couple years it was on too, but I got a job at a video store in the early 90s and had access to a pretty good collection of horror movies on VHS, so I rarely watched the cable edited versions after that.

Thanks!

We usually have somebody host all of the subset picks on their Google drive, but I haven't seen that info yet this year. I may have to put some extra effort into tracking down all of the subset picks if I'm going to do a video for them.

edit: ^^ That beer looks great. I'm excited for autumn and the fact that pumpkin ales are hitting the shelves again.

Some movies I watched so often cut on main cable, that when I watch them on disc I'm surprised at all the "new" footage.

That's how it was in the early years, and I still have an unclaimed copy of "Killjoy Goes to Hell" to prove it. That stopped when DVD Talk offered us use of their shipping warehouse.

Well, "Curses" was our most voted on theme, so I purposely gave it the honorary Saturday spot. It earned it.

Included a mention in the subset thread.

I planned on putting all the compilations up on the main post. The ongoing forum embedding issues unfortunately killed that idea.

The video embed code has changed about three times this year. I think the current working method is going to the Share link on the actual video and copying/pasting the embed code to your post.

Oddly enough, Elvira came on Saturday afternoons back in the day. I don't know how the scene is for Southern Californians nowdays, but the last time I was down there, the horror hosts were Ivana Cadaver and (The real) Eddie Munster. I don't remember what their show was called.

Just a note: Amazon Prime has recently added Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension, Eli Roth's Knock Knock, and The Witch (or The VVitch, if you prefer) to their free movies on Prime. I hope to watch all three at some point in October.

The forum code for YouTube is "yt". If you hit "Quote" on my post, you can see how it's written.

Testing both methods. I've been been doing it the latter way, but prefer the former.

Alright, I'll take the chance and put everyone's up. Right now the priority is getting the checklist done before the weekend's up, but I'll get to it soon.

It's in the works. I should have all of them up before the challenge starts; I'll post links when they're ready.

Great news. The work you put in to it is definitely appreciated.

I love how everything's coming together in the week before kickoff.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 12th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/

Took a trip down memory lane and read a bunch of the original Horror Challenge threads today. Wow, you all fought a lot before I got here. Not that I improved things really. I'm glad that feistiness has largely settled down.

Spoiler challenge history, boring for most probably
Spoiler:
I'm too nostalgic I know, but here are some interesting moments in OHMC minutiae history, imho. Here is what appears to be the very beginnings of our checklist from year two:
In the spirit of Xbox 360 Achievements, I'd like to suggest the following sub-tasks that could be fun to try to get in pursuit of 100 films.

* Watch one film from every decade. (Starting at least with the 30s, or earlier if you have access to them.)

* Watch films in at least three different foreign languages. (Putting English language films on Spanish language tracks doesn't count. )

* Watch a film in each of the following horror subgenres:
--- Vampire
--- Werewolf
--- Ghost/haunting
--- Witchcraft/satanic/religious
--- Zombie
--- Slasher/psycho/homicidal maniac
--- Monster/creature feature (anything from Creature from the Black Lagoon to Snakes on a Plane could apply. I'd even count something like Cujo here.)

* Watch every film in a series. (Easy if you pick something with one sequel, difficult if you with something like Friday the 13th.)

* Watch a film and its remake.

Note: Films could apply to multiple categories. Again, just an idea that could add some additional fun to this.
That was from user DRG, who is still active on the forums, but perhaps not in the Challenges. Thanks DRG!

That was in year two of the Challenge. I couldn't properly quote their post because the thread was locked due to fighting. In year three, the checklist expanded a bit thanks to Shack, still active in OHMCs. I believe the checklists were nonexistent in year one and sort of unofficial the next two years.
To add a little spin to the challenge, and borrowing a bit from last year's checklist, here's one for this year:
_________________________________

Watch one film from every decade, starting with the 1920's (or the 1910's if you can find them).

Watch films in at least two languages other than English.

Watch a film and its remake.

Watch a film and at least two sequels.

(One film could fill multiple items. Example: Dracula would fill one for decade, rating, actor, vampire, based on novel, and maybe others as well.)
(Use a * to mark first time viewings.)
(Change "---" to "-X-" or some similar mark when you have completed that line item.)
(First one to fill in all the blanks wins a random DVD from Trevor, possibly other prizes as well.)

I don't set movies aside. I usually wing it.

That's great to hear. Your links are such a big help. I'd probably never be able to see some of the more obscure pics like Bio-Zombie if it wasn't for your help, so thanks!

More boring history.
Spoiler:
The beginnings of our subset list, thanks Darth! It turned into a list of 31 mostly classic films and a separate thread where we discussed them day by day as the 4th OHMC ran.

Here is Chad thinking that three active threads would be too much:
I just thought having 3 active separate threads might be a little overkill and not go over so well with the mods. But, your reasoning does make sense (damn you for that! ) and they seem to be cool with it, so just forget I said anything. I'll include links in the threads as soon as I get a chance.
But then the next year he let me create 31 separate threads for the subset list

Pretty sure this is the genesis of theme nights, we started them in year 5.

Exciting news. I own several of their BDs. My favorite is probably Santa Sangre or Hardware, great releases.

Thanks Alyxstarr & cool about Severin.

Passing along some horror related news for those interested, there is a sale on amazon for blu ray scream factory DVDs for about $15 (saw it posted on my facebook newsfeed from a youtuber I follow that reviews horror movies) here is the link: https://www.amazon.com/b/ref=as_li_s...4fdded79fe2345

And Tubi TV will have nearly 400 horror movies streaming free in October too: http://www.dreadcentral.com/news/190...treaming-free/

I'm chomping at the bit for Friday. And I'm having a hard time holding off on horror, especially with all the movies I've bought recently.

Also, I'll be going on a haunted hay ride in October. Will I be able to list that as a live event?
