I already have a digital copy, but I'll watch Svengoolie because he is a hoot, and a bit of nostalgia from back when horror hosts were a part of local TV.

I miss those days. Count Gore de Vol is the reason I'm a horror hound.

Absolutely! For me it was Sivad and the Friday/Saturday "Fantastic Features" program. I could sometimes convince mom to let me watch *both* films on Saturday (the double-features moved to that night with one at 11:30 and the other starting around 1am). That show is where I first saw most of the Universal Horror films - uncut!

Here's a link to a list of what aired on which night. I often wish some of those program tapes survived.

I never had a horror host, but I did have Saturday Afternoon matinees on TV, where I first saw the classics.

Oh good, you fixed your link. But that's awesome Bob! Similar memories here, very fortunate that my mom was into scary movies and let me stay up late with her to watch them. I'm blessed in that my host is still active, maintaining a web show for I think decades now, was featured in a couple documentaries about horror hosts, including one just about him, and I got the chance to meet him!

Unfortunately, it looks like CrypticTV is gone from the Roku. It gives a message that says "Sorry, this channel is no longer available". And the website is also down.

Too bad, that was only of my favorite free horror channels.

Me neither. Joe Bob Briggs was the closest thing to a horror host I had.

Nowadays I do enjoy Svengoolie. Even if I've already seen the movie I'll fast forward to his bits.

I had
in Nashville, and later when we moved to Indiana, I had
.

Like BobO'Link said, they were my gateway to the classic Universal monsters. Back then, you had to watch horror movies when they were on because we didn't have DVRs (or even VCRs). Somehow, that made movies a lot more special.

I know for me, If I have 5 items it could end up being $80 in shipping if they were to all go to international winners. It's just a realistic thing to look at.
I'll make a suggestion for breaking the packs up for more winners. Having done a few group buys on the "other site", you could model it after that: ship everything to one member, have the winners Paypal $3 or $4 to that member (to cover shipping) and he could ship them out to everyone. Using Paypal would eliminate the hassle of typing in individual addresses (it just takes a few clicks to print a label). The only two issues would be asking the winners to pay for shipping (but I can't imagine that would be a problem) and the cost of shipping boxes or envelopes, so if you can get someone who has access to those materials for little or no cost (like through their work) that would be ideal.

Just an idea. Kick it around a little, throw it against the wall and see what sticks.

Next Saturday Svengoolie is showing The Monolith Monsters (1957); if these two weekends are any indication, we could be looking at a good run for October.

Both of those are fun and worth saving to the DVR.

I watched Night Train last month, as it is on Snag Films on Roku. I found it an enjoyable movie.

Unfortunately, I missed the time for horror hosts, and I don't believe we ever had one after the 1980s. It's really cool to watch these videos of people's favorites!

Also, I just watched DaveyJoe’s OHMC compilations, and they have really gotten me excited! He really did a great job, so definitely check them out! Can’t wait for next weekend!

For some reason, I just thought they always sent it to Chad and he sent them out. If it is by the prize donors, that would make sense to ship it out in one big bundle. But as you said, having to pay for shipping wouldn't be too bad for the winner. We get a lot of people in this challenge so more opportunities to win a movie would be nice.

And I print labels/pack all by myself for this, this is a labor of love. Sadly it's not even the money that is the issue, it is the TIME, which I have far less of than I need lately.

I'll also point out, just to remind Chad and others...I do U.S. shipping on these prizes only!!!

You guys, and DVDTalk.com, have been great to Hamiltons throughout the years and the prize packs are the least I can do--but keep in mind I get some of this material as vendor samples etc. We don't deserve too much credit as Santa Claus, and much of it will have remainder marks on the UPCs. (though to be honest, a lot of stuff like the Vincent Price set, etc would have gone home with me if NOT for the challenge! )

A few notes perhaps of interest:

The MST3k Gamera set is OOP and goes for a pretty penny. We found a case that had been lost on the selves. Like fine wine, some DVDs age well and accrue value!

That Elvira Double Feature is in there because it has Devil's Wedding Night, which has Rosalba Neri in it. It's not the best print, but I LOVE this movie.

That version of "Wicked, Wicked" in there was recalled as Cheezy did not have the rights. They were destroyed. We never returned our copies for some reason, but also cannot legally sell them. So it's kind of an OOP/never supposed to exist oddity.

Frankenhooker is in there because....I still have enough copies to make an igloo out of. I will probably be buried with this title. And you be quiet Trevor!!!!
That's pretty cool of you all. Well if you ever do have anything extra to "gift (coughcoughsellcoughcough) I'm all ears.

GoldenWheels, why do you have so many copies of Frankenhooker? I feel like there must be a story!

The October 19th subset movie is Jaws. So how about swapping JawsSploitation Day (10/19) and Curse Day (10/22)?

I've been trying to get my smart tv to pick up some live streams for horrorhosts, but there appears to be a cookies problem that I can't figure out yet.

As for the question of horrorhosts we watched in the past, Elvira for me (Although I never even noticed that the show was called "Movie Macabre" untill the 2000s!) And I have to thank Chad for introducing me to Midnite Mausoleum!

Although there's some typical choices on Halloween night (The channel LOVES The Haunting and Dead of Night. I wish they could replace those with some Corman Poes. And I noticed that Devil's Bride appears to be their new favorite addition) This still just might be the most packed October schedule I've seen from them yet. I FINALLY get to see both Goke and To the Devil, a Daughter. Yay!

I've been organizing my collection lately, putting aside titles I really want to watch next month. I stopped when the pile hit the ceiling. Can October last 97 days please?

Growing up in Virginia Beach, we had Dr. Madblood. Then later when we got cable, we had Commander USA on the USA network.

Living in Chicagoland my whole life, I was lucky enough to grow up with Svengoolie.

In the past 11+ years, I've been part of the World of the Weird Monster Show with Undead Johnny as the host. It's more like "Svengoolie meets SCTV" following the exploits of Channel 666.

The prize packs look fantastic, thanks to all who run them for their generosity. In response to SethDLH's question whichever (individual or one big prize) is most convenient for SethDLH is fine with me. Can't believe how soon the challenge starts, the time flew.

I'm about to start collating mine and fear I'll run into the same issue...

**EDIT**
Well... I finished. While the pile doesn't quite reach the ceiling (only ~7' high but there is a large number of multi film sets which keeps it short) it *does* have 180+ titles from which to choose. Looks like I'm set and then some...
