There's a good number I haven't heard of and while I might like them, their imdb ratings don't give me confidence. I'm seeing a lot of 5 out of 10s. Typically I skip things like that because I've found through experience I end up not enjoying most of them.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 12th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/

In past years I've ended up having more fun with 'meh' theme days than I expected - they work well at compelling variety.

Here are some nanny theme recommendations:
Babysitter Wanted (can rent on Vudu) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0819755/
New Daughter (on Hulu, has a babysitter as a character but not primilarily about a sitter) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0951335/

It might be a stretch but I'm considering The Darling (on Netflix), which is about a HOUSEsitter - that counts, right?

I watched Emelie, which fits the nanny theme but it wasnt great imo (too coincidental, implausible).

How many people here have been to a wax museum? Personally I hate them and everyone that's been to one.

By the way, there's a great new release on wax museums coming out next month.

Let's not, you will thank me for it. Seriously I have Leprechaun on deck for the travel theme (if I remember correctly Leprechaun 1 also counts for travel).

Not at all. I'm on Team Ghost Atheism (a-ghostism? Whatever.). I'm just pointing out that there is a difference between dogmatic denial and insufficient evidence. One should be open to possibilities; ghosts could exist, but because nobody has ever produced genuine, incontrovertible evidence for them, one must say that there is no reason to think ghosts are real. That's not agnosticism, which refuses to take any position on a given claim.

A reasonable person does not accept every idea as true automatically; you only accept it if there is sufficient evidence to support the proposition. You might claim to be a Nigerian official who wants to give me 10 million dollars, but I'm going to need more evidence than a poorly written e-mail before I hand you the processing fee to get my loot. Magical copper pads to cure my arthritis? Let's see the lab tests. You have x-ray vision? OK, what have I got in my pockets?

Skepticism isn't blanket negation; it's just a desire to see evidence before accepting a claim.

The other day at work I was just thinking back to how it was a big debate about allowing tv shows into the challenge and all the ironing out of the details. And now we're completely overwhelmed with the amount of horror television, so I guess all that was a pretty good bit of forward thinking. Wish I had it in me to watch more tv shows, but I'm a movie guy. haha

Anyone examine the theme days and see which one it most fits? Or are there any Irish holidays in October?
Edit to add: last Monday in October is a national holiday there

Leprechaun fits travel (October 11), unconventional monster (October 12), and Comedy Crossover (November 1 before dawn) themes... I think it could also fit curses (October 25th) if we see the Leprachaun's gold as 'cursed.'

I'm in too (reluctantly).

I got the ok from Internet Brands to promote the challenge on the Hamilton Book facebook page--maybe I can point some casuals over here and get some new participants.

I am working up the prize packs now, hope to have some pics for Chad by next week.

There's nothing wrong with the one in space. I appreciate other cultures and what certain cultures do to put a death sentence on someone.

Some time back, I was trying to figure out whether to go with the Leprechaun set or the Ghoulies set. Unfortunately, I went with Ghoulies. I noticed the Leprechaun set is ~14 at BN (marketplace seller).

What Ghoulies set is this? The double feature or something that has all of them?

Even Jennifer Aniston cannot save the first Leprechaun movie... but I suspect they're suppose to be intentionally bad.

Excellent, thanks for everything Hamilton Books does to support these challenges! A storefront banner is excellent!

I got the ok from Internet Brands to promote the challenge on the Hamilton Book facebook page--maybe I can point some casuals over here and get some new participants.

I am working up the prize packs now, hope to have some pics for Chad by next week.
Thanks so much for everything you do for the Challenges (and us)! Something on your facebook page is great advertising. I'm particularly interested in your prize packs (even though I am unlucky so often, sigh). Maybe a Leprechaun can help me out...

That's fantastic news. I'm glad they were in favor with your idea, and not embarrassed to be associated with us.

And you have a PM, BTW.

I personally prefer the less tame part 2. The original only has notoriety because of you know who. That's followed by the two Brian-Trenchard Smith ones (3 & 4) because they're just dumb fun. Really wanted to like the Ice-T two-fer, but they're terrible. Take the remake, kill it, and burn it with fire.
