No. post #62 in the discussion thread. And all three lists [when complete] will be available on post #2 of the discussion post, and in the first post of the list thread.

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 12: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl

A note, and a question:

The note: The link to The House of Seven Corpses takes you to the IMDB entry for The Wicker Man.

The question: I can't find a source anywhere that lists Summer Camp Nightmare as a horror film. There's even a user review on IMDB that has the title "Note: Not a horror." I'm not trying to raise a ruckus or anything, but can someone just vouch that it IS a horror film before we all end up watching a drama in October? If it's horror, there's no issue, but I think that we need to make sure that it is. As always, just my two cents' worth of opinion.

Google lists it as Drama/Horror. And at Rotten Tomatoes it's Drama/Horror/Mystery & Suspense. I haven't seen it, so I don't know. But based on the description, it sounds like one of those 70's teen delinquent movies.

Is Summer Camp Nightmare available anywhere? I can't find it on DVD or streaming.

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 12: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl

Some quick questions regarding the subset:

Aren't there different cuts of The Exorcist III? If so, which cut?

I could have sworn we had Killer Klowns as a subset list entry before but maybe I imagined it.

I am only in the lower 300's on the Dark Shadows TV show. How does the movie House Of Dark Shadows roll? Does it give away spoilers from the TV show? Is it placed within the time frame of the TV shows (between certain episodes?)? Does it have anything to do with Night Of Dark Shadows (the other "movie" around that time)?

I believe it was last year that the group ended up voting on which of my two subset selections would make the list. Killer Klowns was one of those suggestions. Maybe that's what you're thinking about.

I have similar questions/worries regarding the Dark Shadows movie because I've never even watched the show.

And on a side note, now I'm kicking myself for snoozing on that Synapse sale.

I think that, until Shout releases their version of Exorcist III, there's only the one cut on Blu-ray and DVD at the moment.

I remember watching Killer Klowns for the Challenge a few years back, but I don't think that it was a subset pick. Clckworang is probably on target with his explanation.

House of Dark Shadows doesn't fit "between" episodes of Dark Shadows, the TV show; it's a loose retelling of the first year or so of the Barnabas storyline. That should put it as having roughly the same basic plot of episodes 210 through 350 or so. Bear in mind that the movie had to have an ending, which the TV show didn't have at that point, so naturally it veers off into new territory near the end. I don't think that you'll encounter any spoilers, even if you've never seen the show and want to watch it afterwards. The movie has a completely different feel to it than the TV show. Where the TV show feels somewhat cramped and stage-bound and cheap, the movie, at least to me, feels more expansive, with all the flubs of the TV show gone and the ability to show a lot more blood. I'm not ashamed to say that it's my favorite vampire movie, the reasons for which I'll delve into during the discussion about the film when that day comes.

So don't worry--if you've seen through the early 300s, there are no major spoilers heading your way from the movie.

Oops--I forgot to answer your Night of Dark Shadows question. It has characters from the show, but it's a brand-new plot and isn't related to any of the events or characters that show up in House of Dark Shadows.

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 12: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl

Awesome! Thanks for the info on Dark Shadows rbrown498!

I figured Scream's Exorcist III would be out by early October but it appears the release date is 10-25 so not many may have it by the end of the month. I have the original version in my Exorcist Anthology so I haven't decided yet if I want Scream's version or not. It's been years since I have seen the movie and I remember nothing about it.

I should be up near the 350's or so on Dark Shadows by the middle of October so I feel better now. I just didn't want to ruin anything.

I really liked Krampus, but am very forgiving of holiday horror.

For subset and checklist purposes, I think we've always been that any cut counts.

Some of the links are still from last year, I'm sure Chad just has a lot of cut and pasting left to do.

Speaking of which, to help Chad, perhaps a couple of us can be delegated the formatting and linking of the theme post and subset post next year. And one of us could even do all the Review subforum threads again too. It's not that Chad can't handle it of course, but why not take care of a couple of the dozens of hours that he puts into this?

It's on YouTube, for the moment at least. But yeah, it doesn't appear to be streaming anywhere else and dvds of it are rare.

The only DVD copies I've seen look like bootleg DVD-Rs. Has there been an official release on DVD or BD?

I'm also having a hard time finding Satan's Blood (1978) aka "Don't Panic". Looks like the DVD release is out of print and rare. Copies are selling for $50+. And I can't find it streaming. Is it maybe available under a different title?

So can anyone here who has seen it confirm it has enough horror eligibility to qualify?

All I can tell you is Google and Wikipedia list it as such. And a recent list from Blumhouse does the same. Also popular on USA Up All Night from what I hear.

Just trying to work in all decades like always. Unfortunately there's no 1940's this year, just like there was no 1930's last year.

Consider the current table the workprint edition. All errors will be fixed.

I wouldn't object to that.

This is the cut being used, and it's taken from the LaserDisc. It's been up since 12/14.

It is being released on Region B(?) Blu-ray from Screenbound (formerly Odeon) on 9/19. Not sure beyond that.

Does anybody know where I could get a copy of The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue on BD? It looks like it might be OOP.

Can I do the Review subforum subset threads for you this year? You can send me your template, or I'm sure I can just figure it out from last year's threads. I'm off for the next 6 days so have plenty of time.

I think the Review subforum subset threads might have been my original baby anyway, I never should have put that work back on you.

I presume I still need to pick my subset? Chronological Horror Years Faceoff - 1966 (Gold) Vs. 1991 (Silver) from what I see on my PM.

My apologies again for not being around.
Whoops, meant to post this over here. I blame the drugs.

Thanks for the well wishes, Trevor!

I can't help but think back to our Thriller discussion right before I disappeared, and Silence of the Lambs immediately comes to mind as a 1991 subset pick. Any opinions?

Bear in mind that the movie had to have an ending, which the TV show didn't have at that point, so naturally it veers off into new territory near the end. I don't think that you'll encounter any spoilers, even if you've never seen the show and want to watch it afterwards.
There's a bit of a spoiler with
Spoiler:
the advanced aging
.

It's closer to what was originally going to happen to Barnabas, with a plot line similar to Dracula and him being killed off.

Is Summer Camp Nightmare available anywhere? I can't find it on DVD or streaming.
I get the feeling they renamed it from The Butterfly Revolution to market it as a horror.

That's weird. Not only OOP but the amazon product page was deleted
http://www.blue-underground.com/product.php?product=179

From a bit of research, it looks like it might have been deleted around the start of the year.

I got burned by a MOD movie last night. I ordered Brainscan from Barnes & Noble months ago. The format was, and is still listed, as DVD but the recent reissue of it is DVD-R. I think if companies are doing this, they should at least indicate it on the case and not continue to use the DVD logo.

It's past the refund period, so I guess I get to buy the movie again. There's a 4 movie set at a decent price that includes it but I'm still ticked off about it.

I had a similar situation earlier this year with an Amazon marketplace seller listing MOD discs on a product page for DVD and not MOD. Thankfully I opened it when I got it. That was a real cheap looking MOD and I got my money back and for whatever reason, they sent me another MOD copy.

It's been used before.

But great minds think alike, I think I picked it a couple years back.

Here you go, Dick:

The previously used titles.

The links from theme nights for ideas:

I appreciate it, but I can get it this time. I killed some time by getting all the posters and everything ready to go early. Tried a different approach by creating individual notebook files for each thread, inputting the necessary info beforehand, so you copy/paste the whole thing. That, as opposed to individually adding the posters, links, etc. and using the template as you go along. Much faster.
