Fellows, I will get on those prizes this week. Some good choices there.

(But Exotic Time Machine....oh my goodness).

EDIT: Oh and...I am happy to give out some Final Countdown. But man do I think that move STINKS! Luckily the customer does not agree with me.

K.

BTW, Michael Carver's weekly OOP thread says that the Blu of the 1960 Time Machine has gone out of print. Good thing I already bought it.

I have most of the movies (and at least one of the books) suggested (including The Final Countdown). The Exotic Time Machine 1 & 2 were the only ones out of the movies I don't have that I want.

Trevor - how do you want us to vote for favorites? PMs like we did with the Comedy Challenge, or in this thread? In the thread might get messy since we're also using the thread for our lists. Oh, and how many should we pick?

Good picks. I bought that book from Hamilton Books in one of my most recent orders (along with the Mammoth Dracula book and a couple of Mammoth Zombie books).

My orders are too big and come in large boxes.

Rich hasn't said, and might not know yet, how many prizes. But I guess go ahead and PM me your top three choices everyone. I'll tally them and let Rich know.

Also, if anyone else has any prizes to donate, or has any company contacts they'd like to hit up, please go for it!

I had a dream last night where I time travelled back into the old west and discovered a site of uranium. Lots of shootouts before I made it back to my own time, because I was mistaken for a gunslinger too.

I normally give a 50-60$ budget total by the values on the site. I'm not worried about the number of winners myself, though less overall is easier for me (as these are handpacked by yours truly, so I'd rather not mail 15 packages! ).

(I think many challenges do 5 winners?)

Thanks again! I think most of our choices so far are fairly cheap, so 5 winners would be sweet!

And thanks for the people who have sent in votes. I'll tally them up in a few days and send them to Rich.

Re: DVDTalk's Second Quadrennial Leap Day Challenge - dusk 2/27/16 to dawn 3/2/16

So, has anyone come up with any more Academy Award nominated films that deal with time travel? I'm looking for triple(!) Challenge credit films to watch the night of the 27th. So far, we have Star Trek (2009).

The original Time Machine got an Oscar nod, I believe.

Star Trek IV (the one with the whales) received 4 Academy Award nominations
Portrait of Jennie won the Best Special Effects Award in 1949
Somewhere in Time, nominated for Best Costume Design
Back to the Future won, and BTTF II nominated for Best Visual Effects
Midnight in Paris, four nominations, one win for Best Original Screenplay

I'm in. Not sure what I'll get to, but it might be time to revisit Star Trek IV. Any LDS anyone?

Thanks guys, although a couple of those won't count for Action/Adventure I'm pretty sure.

Looks like you'll have to wait until the night of the 28th for triple credit.

Dates: Sunset on February 28th to sunrise on April 1st.

We have three overlapping Challenges this year, so plan those days accordingly if you wish "double credit" (or even "triple credit"!). The Academy Award Challenge runs through February 28th, so we have some overlap there. What you watch from dusk on March 30th to dawn on April 1st could also count for the annual April B-Movie/Exploitation Challenge. And our Second Quadrennial Leap Day Challenge runs from dusk on February 27th until dawn on March 2nd.

I recall seeing on the Wikipedia link of time travel movies, Superman the Movie counted, and that is also eligible for triple credit.

True on a couple, but Portrait of Jennie is classified as a mystery by IMDb.

But somewhere else I have it where anything you watch from the beginning of the Leap Day Challenge gets the bonus 24 hour head start to also count in the Action/A/C/M Challenge, but only if it is also A/A/C/M.

Awesome, but I already watched that earlier this month.
