Guys, I'm pretty sure it is Bloodeaters... but it also could be Toxic Zombies.

Every challenge it's inevitable I watch a movie thought to be a first time view that wasn't. This year it was Fulci's Aenigma. Didn't realize until 15 minutes in, and made the unfortunate decision to keep watching. Grating on the nerves, it was.
Lost after Dark wasn't a bad homage to 80's slashers, although it's forgettable, and I'll probably never revisit it. When are the makers of these retro recreations going to realize you're supposed to cast thirtysomethings, and not actual teenagers? And that 'Missing Reel' shit needs to stop. Now.

The first thing that popped into my mind was The Beach, with Leonardo DiCaprio. Could that be what you're thinking of? Not a horror film, but a really good film nonetheless.

Jeez i wonder if I am mixing the Beach up with another movie...I could SWEAR what I was thinking about was about a bunch of guys who deliberately go to rip off a grow operation.
That is some kick ass Toxic Zombies art btw!

There are just too many marijuana field raiding zombie movies to narrow it down...

Today, October 20, would have been Bela Lugosi's 133rd birthday, so do yourself a favor and find a Bela film to watch. I just finished watching one of this movies that I'd never seen before: BOWERY AT MIDNIGHT (1942), in which his character leads a triple life: as a renowned psychology professor, as the head of a Bowery mission and as a criminal mastermind. It's pretty wild and has a great cast, including Dave O'Brien, Vince Barnett, Bernard Gorcey, Pat Costello, and Tom Neal, of DETOUR fame. And it's got a pretty gruesome ending that recalls FREAKS. I have it on tape, but it's probably easily found on YouTube.

I Spit On Your Grave III: Vengeance is Mine veers away from the franchise's established formula. Torture porn fans will likely be disappointed, only one or two scenes really deliver what they've come to expect from this franchise. I guess you would consider this movie horror, though it is probably more accurate to call it a very dark thriller.

And for all we know, GoldenWheels is misremembering. Maybe he and his buddy were just watching a regular zombie movie ... after raiding a field for some marijuana to smoke during the movie.

For today's theme I watched my Blu-Ray of Daybreakers, which fits both the vampire and apocalyptic horror categories. If you haven't seen it, it stars Ethan Hawke, Willem Dafoe, and Sam Neill in a world where most of the population are vampires dependent on a human blood supply that is rapidly disappearing, leaving vampire civilization on the brink of collapse. It's by the Spierig brothers who also wrote and directed Undead and Predestination.

I watched The Thaw, which I guess fits the apocalyptic theme, and it was decent. Nothing terribly original, but more entertaining moments than I expected.
Then watched one of my favorite all-time films that fits both themes today, Lifeforce.
Getting ready to watch the sunset pick here momentarily.

Well, crap. Nightly News reminded me I need to watch Back to the Future tomorrow. Not sure I can skip that, seeing as tomorrow is the "day."

Someone care to do me a quick favor that goes back to trivia question 2?
I'm about to send the results in to John Sinnott, but nothing was said about...
A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)
Suspiria (1977)
I just need the "Write a sentence or three about why you feel it's a good horror movie, or why it's great to watch on Halloween." treatment on each.
