I'd have no problem counting a ghost story (even if it wasn't trying to be scary).

For some reason I just got around to seeing this for the first time a few months ago on TCM. I think I was confusing it with other movies and thought it was going to be a silly comedy. And while there was some silliness, I wasn't expecting the emotional power the movie brought. Really great movie.

You're probably thinking of The Ghost and Mr. Chicken when you say you were expecting a silly comedy.

Wow, I just haven't been able to manage nearly that much. Congrats. I'm still probably a day from hitting 50. And I think my numbers will tail off a little in the second half of the month.

That's exactly the movie I was confusing it with! And that expectation probably made me lower my defenses to the onion cutting that this movie would ultimately bring.

I too hit the midway point with 60, by watching Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man. I found it interesting that I was able to recognize Bela easily through the monster makeup.

I love this flick though I wish we got a better fight between the two instead of the last 10 min or so.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 11th Annual October Horror Movie Challenge (Oct 1-31) Pt

my goal was 60, i'm about to start number 54 (Hills Have Eyes '77) plan on watching Hills Have Eyes 2 and a couple others today. There were two days I didn't get a chance to watch anything (16 hour work days) then a few others I only got to watch one due to Cubs baseball. My fiancee is going out of town the weekend before Halloween and my son is spending that weekend with his grandparents - so I plan on taking a few PH days from work and spending my entire weekend alone watching movies, eating pizza and drinking Red Bull.

Today so far I watched House, which I thought was a FTV but I know I've seen some of it before after watching it - I then suffered through House 2, might track down House IV later this month, just because I'm OCD about seeing entire series once I watch one.

I hit 50 today, so I'm on track to crack 100, with 47% FTVs so far.

There's a new Roku Channel called The Veil. It has all 13 episodes of the Boris Karloff tv series (commercial-free).

I definitely do not understand the hype for Starry Eyes. I still see it mentioned on lists, but found it to be smashing it's point over my head repeatedly without offerring anything new.

I'm surprised by the reactions I've been reading regarding Candyman. Sure, it's not a classic, but I saw it for the first time only recently and thought it was pretty solid.

So far, my favorite FTV so far is probably Death Spa. I can't believe I'd never even heard of that until recently.

Currently I'm at 56 with 96% FTVs, and only one forgotten title. I'm purposefully avoiding previous numbers to avoid being in competition with myself.

And Wolfcop had its flaws, but was good stupid fun. I also enjoyed it more on a second viewing.

You own some hospitals? That actually sounds like a lot of work to me.

I watched Hills Have Eyes 2 today, jesus, what a pile of shit. Maybe if I would have seen it in my youth I would have had some nostalgic connection to it, but I didn't, and it is terrible.

I'm watching my bootleg of Peanut Butter Solution with my son now, I wish this would get an official release, since their are ghosts I'm counting it as horror, I used to watch this daily, a blu-ray with extras would be amazing.

Reminded me too much of House of the Devil, and I think it's from the same people.

The highlight of last year's challenge for me.

On the same note I watched Gnaw: Food of the Gods II yesterday. Holy shit. Basically it takes the "mayor won't close the beach" plot of Jaws and replaces it with a Campus Dean and giant rats. Instead of giant chickens you get a giant 8-year-old kid. Instead of Ida Lupino you get some guy from Days of Our Lives. More exposed boom mic shots than I've witnessed to date, and you can even visibly see the hands of the effects people pumping ooze though syringes. I even have my suspicions that 28 Days Later lifted the opening animal activist scene from this. So much cheese.

On YouTube, although it looks to have a shorter run time than the DVD I watched.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 11th Annual October Horror Movie Challenge (Oct 1-31) Pt

Even if I just watch one movie this evening I'll be at 37 which is just about right for my goal of 75. I'm going to start hitting some Universal classics in the second half of the challenge. I usually only watch a few of these in any given challenge because I've already seen them so many times. I also have more Christopher Lee and Wes Craven lined up.

I'm thinking about watching Dead of Night for today's theme because it will be a FTV and I can get a Patrick Macnee check out of it. Not that I'm working on the checklist mind you. I just like to lay some groundwork when I can in case I decide to make a run for it later.

Having a hard time getting in the mood today. Inter company job interview tomorrow. Not much of a pay bump but in the positions after this one you start seeing decent increases.
