What are some of your finds at yard sales, swap meets, etc?

I came across these three today, like new, for five bucks. It's great when people have no idea what they're selling.

The Outer Limits seasons 1 and 2, both seasons for 5 bucks. That's $2.50 a season. Bought at a swap meet.
The Wizard of Oz DVD - 3 disc edition with loads of memorabilia reproductions (movie program, postcards, movie ticket, etc.) - bought brand new and sealed for 3 bucks at a swap meet.

My biggest find was all four complete series of the"Next Generation" (That's The Next Generation, Deep Space None, Voyager and Enterprise for those of you in Rio Linda!) on DVD at a yard sale in Ormond Beach, Florida a couple of years ago. The Owner had three of them tagged at $40.00 and the fourth for $30.00. I offered $100.00 and he accepted my bid, and I took em away! :D

When I lived in Florida, there was a pawn shop in town where I would find a lot of classic and some not so classic horror films for $2 each.

Pawn shops are the way to go. You have to dig through tons of crap, but sometimes you can find a gem or two. A beginner collector would be nuts not to start at pawn shops.

A few months ago, I picked up Amarcord Criterion for a buck. Last weekend I found the four DVD version of Blade Runner for a dollar.

I check Pawn Shops myself and find a bargain from time to time. Recently I got Mill Creek's Highway to Heaven for $10.00 off from "The Big River" by hocking the old A&E sets before ordering the new set. :D On the funny side a Trailer Park a couple of miles from my house who's having their semi-annual neighborhood wide yard sale this weekend. As usual one family is selling their B*****g DVDs including Song of the South, Amos and Andy, The Hawaii Five-O Bored, She Hung Herself episode among a boatload of others. They've been doing this for AT LEAST nine years, and the feds have not shown up to bust them. rotfl

Apparently the Feds don't care about such small time crooks such as these. They also dont apparently care about people that sell illegal goods at State Fairs, or at Comic-Con.

I have no issue with purchasing used but most DVDs I find at yard sales are just beat to hell or are mainly titles that they're getting rid of for a reason.

I do remember finding the Casablanca 2 disc set for $3 many years ago. But I'm far more likely to get them from used music/book stores than at yard sales.

As much as I enjoy looking for and buying crap, I've never found ANYTHING at any yard sale I've stopped at. Of course I still stop at them because the first one I don't stop at will end up having my holy grail.

Yeah, I only stop a few times a year, and often buy little things like DVDs or BDs for $1, but I've never found a truly amazing deal.

Well, I got a pretty decent deal today at a garage sale: Time Bandits Criterion & This is Spinal Tap Criterion. $2 each.

It's like finding a damned Mickey Mantle baseball card. Best. Find. Ever.

If you want to see the craigslist posting for it, while it's still up: https://denver.craigslist.org/gms/5760663797.html

If you look to the right, just below the radio, in between the Royal Tenenbaums and Capote.....there sits the little beauty!

Several years ago, I found My Favorite Year on DVD for a buck. It was a blind buy, but I figured with Peter O'Toole and Cousin Larry Appleton, why not? The movie was mediocre, but it was also OOP and I flipped it on eBay for about $50. So that's the reigning champion of my yard sale finds.
