Also, we got Synapse back as a sponsor this year:

Don't know what they're donating yet, but will post as soon as I find out.

Great news about Synapse coming back; also belated thanks to Seth and Celluloid Terror for again sponsoring challenge prizes!

Really epic to see the subsets posted; now to go about acquiring a few of the harder to find ones - anyone have hints on The Midnight Hours or Zombies of Mass Destruction?

The Midnight Hour is streaming on YouTube; Zombies of Mass Destruction can be bought used at GoHastings.com for around $3 shipped if you use the code CHICKENMONTH and buy another used something. I picked up Cold Prey for the same price--got 'em both shipped for less than $6. If ZoMD is the only DVD you buy, it'll still run you less than $4.

For what it's worth the sequel to Cold Prey is continuos from the first and, I think 2 is superior - if it can be found cheaply it's worth marathoning with the first (part 3 not so much).

Thanks--I'll be on the lookout for it. GoHastings is sold out.

One week to go, and champing at the bit. Getting harder and harder to keep from watching horror. I think I might watch some, but only list it under my What Are You Watching List just to whet my appetite. I'm even thinking of starting to put out my Halloween masks. My favorite is a very nice Don Post Creature From the Black lagoon mask.

I'm avoiding horror films until the 1st. But I *did* go through all my unwatched piles and pulled the horror titles into a couple of stacks to make 'em easier to find! I'll go through them again this weekend just to make sure I've not missed anything as I *have* missed stuff I'd wanted to watch in prior years only "discovering" it after the challenge is over.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 11th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/

I just found out about this boxset and some of you horror soundtrack fans may not know about it either. Limited to 2000 copies.

https://www.varesesarabande.com/prod...t-8-cd-box-set

This deluxe package contains all 8 soundtracks from the original series, over 8 hours of music including almost 3 hours of bonus tracks!

New artwork has been commissioned for the set by artist Shawn Conn, and assembling the CD sleeves next to one another forms a larger piece of art. The pictures above include a sample of an individual sleeve from the front and back, as well as the larger piece of art that is created when all 8 sleeves are placed alongside each other. Before you have any nightmares, please don’t worry … the original Matthew Joseph Peak creations are included in the accompanying booklet. The set is then completed with a knitted Freddy sweater encasing the outer box! A truly unique item that ensures the A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET - 8 CD BOX SET will stand out on any shelf.

The world was introduced to Wes Craven’s Freddy Krueger, (portrayed by Robert Englund), in 1984 with A Nightmare on Elm Street. Krueger was a former child killer seeking revenge against the parents who burned him by haunting the dreams of their teenage children and killing them in their dreams. The series has earned almost half a billion dollars worldwide, and boasts some of the most beloved nightmarish themes from composers including: Charles Bernstein (Wes Craven’s A Nightmare On Elm Street), Christopher Young (A Nightmare On Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge), Angelo Badalamenti (A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors), Craig Safan (A Nightmare On Elm Street 4: The Dream Master), Jay Ferguson (A Nightmare On Elm Street 5: The Dream Child), Brian May (Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare), J. Peter Robinson, (Wes Craven’s New Nightmare) and Graeme Revell (Freddy Vs. Jason).

Also included in this set is a suite from the video game featured in the film Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare and the theme from Harry Manfredini’s FRIDAY THE 13TH series, as heard in the film Freddy Vs. Jason (with performances by the band Machine Head).

Only 2000 copies of this deluxe package will be sold! Get yours today!
Also note that Dark Delicacies currently has it available for the same price all signed up which is where I bought my copy. http://www.darkdel.com/store/p248/Ni...THE_EVENT.html

Never bought anything from them before but I ended up going thru their site and buying a few other signed soundtracks that are hard to find: Crystal Lake Memories soundtrack, Jason Goes To Hell soundtrack, Beautiful Darkness: Leviathan Story Of Hellraiser soundtrack, and Night Of The Demons soundtrack!

I'm -trying- to avoid horror, but almost every night I find myself on the verge of putting some on, only to stop myself. It doesn't help that everywhere I look it seems like Halloween, which also happens to be my favorite holiday.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 11th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/

I've just been on Netflix, looking at my DVD queue. I've got 5 or 6 movies lined up so far, including some old Universal films. I also moved Dreamcatchers up toward the top of my queue to hopefully get to it in October. I don't know if I'll get Demon Knight however, as there is a very long wait for that. It must be a popular movie.

I'm very excited to start the challenge - one of my favorite fall traditions.

I just found BobO'Link's terrific Universal Horror list, and I think one of my goals will be to conquer it. Second goal, of course, to watch as much Wes Craven as I can fit in.

From my 2008 Horror Challenge Annual Awards post:

Imagine My Surprise! (aka "holy shit, I actually enjoyed that!")
Tales from the Crypt-Demon Knight-I've never heard one peep about this movie since it's existence, but I'm surprised it doesn't have a bigger following. I was shocked at how much fun I had with this.

Might have to take a look at that. There's some early stuff in this massive list that I was planning on checking off.

I definitely know what know the feeling of wanting to watch horror. I usually hold off until October 1, but I might just cave and start at dusk of September 30 and do the Criterion Crossover...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 11th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/

I plan to have a bounced back year from last. My numbers and viewing wasn't great. I did have a good time going to movies and meeting the Soska Sisters (Ameican Mary, See no evil 2) which the pic I will use now to put up on my spot on the list.

Plan is to watch as many films I can..have company like friends and family over, go to the movies for a horror film or 2, meet horror celebs, dress up for Halloween and just have all around fun.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 11th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/

I was going to watch Halloween tonight, since it would have been eligible for the Criterion Challenge, but plans changed. We recently moved furniture around in our house, and I think my copy temporarily got lost in the shuffle. So I fired up my PlayStation 3, and got one of my villains to level 20 on DC Universe Online. May watch some horror now.

The Nicholas Cage "Wicker Man" is not set in Scotland, so it wouldn't qualify for this category.

dont want to get too comfortable in binging watching movies and read comics so im making it a point to walk one mile for every movie I watch. I need to get in better shape and started recently but a 100 movie marathon wont help. so im slowly working on being able to walk on a treadmill without holding on for dear life and luckily ill be able to walk while i watch!

I just found BobO'Link's terrific Universal Horror list, and I think one of my goals will be to conquer it. Second goal, of course, to watch as much Wes Craven as I can fit in.

Might have to take a look at that. There's some early stuff in this massive list that I was planning on checking off.
Added both next to mightysparks list on the first post under 'Noteworthy Lists'.

Plan is to watch as many films I can..have company like friends and family over, go to the movies for a horror film or 2, meet horror celebs, dress up for Halloween and just have all around fun.
