Que Sera, Sera, it's time to watch The Man Who Knew Too Much.

I'm not sure why it took me so long to watch Bonnie and Clyde as I've owned it for a long time, but I'm glad I finally did. I was surprised to see Gene Wilder in a small part that looks to have been one of his first movie roles.

I watched Best in Show and it wasn't my favorite but it was okay. Some of the scenes were funny but then some of the characters were very annoying. I'm glad I watched it so I can check it off my list but I don't know if I'll be viewing it again any time soon.

Re: The Neverending Watch The Movies You Should Have Already Seen Challenge

I'd watch The Paperboy. It was weird as hell and definitely worth watching at least once.

I watched One Flew Over and though it was pretty great. So depressing and hilarious at the same time. Great stuff.

Blade Runner (1982)
Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior (1981)
Taxi Driver (1976)
Vertigo (1958)
Cape Fear (1991)
Rear Window (1954)
A Beautiful Mind (2001)
The Apartment (1960)
Adaptation (2002)
Fury (2014)

Movies I've watched

Get a can of Coke and a Cornetto and watch Shaun of the Dead.

The Man Who Knew Too Much is the first Hitchcock I've watched for this challenge that I truly enjoyed. It's different than the original but not in a bad way. Seeing Day in a serious role was nice. I read that she initially refused to sing "Que Sera, Sera" calling it "a forgettable children's song." Funny how that worked out for her!

While watching this one I *did* realize just what it is about most Hitchcock films I don't care for. He constantly uses rear screen for scenes where location would be better and frequently cuts from a scene on location to a closeup using rear projection. There's a market scene in this one where he does that every other scene. It's very distracting and every time this is done I'm taken out of the film just a little.

Re: The Neverending Watch The Movies You Should Have Already Seen Challenge

BobO'Link, you get to watch The Searchers. Great movie with a great cast and story!

I finally watched The Good The Bad The Weird

Writer-Director Jee-woon Kim is obviously a fan of Sergio Leone and John Woo as this kimchi Western set in Manchuria during the Japanese occupation has a bounty hunter, a gunfighter and a thief pursuing each other and the classic MacGuffin of a treasure map purportedly leading to a buried treasure of the Qing Dynasty. Naturally the Japanese army want the map too as the 4th party in this bloody action comedy. This is not a remake of The Good, The Band and the Ugly. Instead it's more of a tribute. I really enjoyed it.

I watched the Korean version of the movie from a region 3 special edition DVD that includes a slightly shorter international version as well. If anyone wants to comment on which version is best, be my guest.

My updated list now includes Rene Clair's It Happened Tomorrow:

1. My Winnipeg
2. Massacre Gun
3. The Hunger Games
4. Head
5. Advise and Consent
6. The Cars That Ate Paris
7. From Up On Poppy Hill
8. It Happened Tomorrow
9. Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion
10. Things to Come

I've watched it several times hoping to come away with a greater appreciation but so far it's not happened. It *does* have some impressive effects and shots but Wells' dialogue seems to constantly be 'author's message' speechifying fare pushing Wells' pacifism ideas. I also find the acting to be somewhat disjointed. Maybe it'll work better for you.

I grew up in a time when John Wayne films were seemingly a dime-a-dozen and never really watched any of them, frequently avoiding them. I've been remedying that the past few years by picking up lots of his films and have been somewhat surprised that I enjoy most of them. The Searchers is no exception. It's a highly enjoyable revenge/quest type film that surprises in the end by not being as much about revenge as it first seems. It's directed by John Ford, whose work I've come to greatly appreciate. My copy is in a John Wayne/John Ford box set I picked up several years ago and I've enjoyed all the films I've seen in that set.

Shaun of the Dead wasn't as funny as I expected it to be. The mom was the funniest one to watch just because she seemed a little crazy already. I did like the way it ended though. I thought that was a neat idea for a zombie movie.

lrend, I find it INCONCEIVABLE you've not seen The Princess Bride!

Maybe you really need to be a 80s kid and have watched the cartoons to truly like Transformers (2007). I'm not (my son is) and found much of the film to be quite laughable due mostly to the dialog (maybe I was *supposed* to find the dialog laughable?). The CGI was frequently distracting for me and I felt it could have stood to have had roughly 30 minutes cut from the run time to tighten things up a bit. With a shorter run time and tighter story it would have worked better. That said it *is* the best film directed by Michael Bay that I've seen, but that's not saying much...

I watched Things To Come...

I did like the movie better than BobO'Link, but I will agree that the acting was stiff. It's always interesting for me to see a science fiction movie as old as this because of the opportunity to see what filmmakers thought the future might look like decades ago. This for me was really more historic than good, and I enjoyed it on that level.

I watched Heavenly Creatures and it was interesting to say the least. I had heard about this case before on a true crime show so I thought the movie would be interesting. It was odd to me how they created this whole fantasy for the movie when I think they were really just two crazy girls. I don't think I'll be recommending this movie to anyone.

I didn't care for Lolita. I started off trying to watch the trailer and couldn't finish it. I am not a fan of the many films from that decade dealing with a bunch of guys going crazy over some girl. Since this wasn't completely like that, I like it a bit better than all those other ones. Thank god this wasn't in color. I absolutely detest how brightly colored these types of films always seem to be. I couldn't tell if I was supposed to find Peter Sellers funny or not (I didn't find him amusing). That being said, it's still a fairly solid film. I just didn't care for it and it was much better than that horrible trailer.

Leon: The Professional was an okay movie. My friend recommended it to me and said it was really good but I thought it was a little blah. Yes the storyline was good but something was just missing for me...I'm not sure what though. At times the little girl got on my nerves and I didn't really care for the ending.

I watched An American Werewolf in London on your recommendation and can see why it is now a cult classic. It wasn't what I expected, I found it a lot more humorous than I thought I was going to.

JAX036 I choose The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel because I've heard great things about it. Let me know your thoughts on it.

I watched Lawless and I enjoyed it. It had enough action and a good story behind it. I'm glad I finally watched it and I may watch it again in the future. I liked the storyline between the brothers. I could've done without seeing Guy Pierce with the weird hair and bleached eyebrows. It kinda freaked me out.

The Hunger Games was certainly interesting. I had put this one off because I had previously seen the similar Japanese movie Battle Royale on an imported DVD and I preferred it to The Hunger Games. Both movies have sequels that I haven't seen and they could end up on my list eventually.

My updated list now includes Dr. Zhivago because I've already seen Lawrence of Arabia and I wanted to pay tribute to Omar Sharif.

3. Dr. Zhivago
4. Head
5. Advise and Consent

Watchmen was a bit long (and I only watched the theatrical cut) and had a few pacing issues, but overall, I enjoyed it very much. At some point, I will likely seek out the graphic novel and director's cut. Since I didn't really know anything about the movie going in, I had to go back and watch the opening credits again after I finished watching the movie. Some of the scenes made more sense to me at that point.
  • Timecrimes (2007)
  • Godzilla (1954)
  • Empire of the Sun (1987)
  • Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937)
  • Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (2011)
  • True Grit (2010)
  • Super 8 (2011)
  • In Time (2011)
  • American Gangster (2007)

Re: The Neverending Watch The Movies You Should Have Already Seen Challenge

hbsvb I choose I Am Legend (2007) for your viewing pleasure. I think it is a great movie considering how small the cast is.

I watched The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2011). I thought the cast was outstanding. They did a wonderful job getting you to invest in a wide range of characters, some of which had quirks to their personalities which most would people would frown upon at the start of the movie, but by the end you cared for almost every character. I am very much looking forward to checking out the sequel.

1. Ecstacy (2011)
2. The Bang Bang Club (2010)
3. Endless Love (2014)
4. Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)
5. Coherence (2013)
6. Conan the Barbarian (1982)
7. Conan the Barbarian (2011)
8. Contraband (2012)
9. Date and Switch (2014)
10. The Debt (2010)

Movies I have watched:
Spoiler:

1. An American Werewolf in London (1981)
2. The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2011)

JAX036 it's time to watch Captain America: The First Avenger. This one is ok but the sequel is better.

I watched Star Trek Into Darkness and it was good. I liked that they had Spock showing emotion in this film.

I have had to change my list since I last posted over a month ago due to having my DVR completely wiped thanks to a power surge and from watching most of the rest of it without even thinking about the challenge! I was unable to watch Her because of the DVR wipe so I'll have to get my hands on that later and watch it! I figured now is a good time to get back into it. So without further ado...
