Thanks for keeping this challenge so active. My goal is to be atop the third tier challenges (Horror and Sci-fi being the biggies)

Plus it's a work phone (I personally do not own, nor want, a cell phone) with no data plan so it's never used on the internet. I have a work assigned/provided iPad but from my experience it's essentially a iPhone that can't make calls and is a horrible device for doing *work* on the internet having a "browser" that crashes if you open more than a couple of tabs. IMHO, it's good for not much more than those "finger twitch" "games" and as a partially passable eBook reader (screen glare is horrible - my granddaughter's low end Kindle is a far better device). Based on that and my daughter's constant complaining about the "sluggishness" of her phone (android - smart girl) on the internet, and watching my son take 3-4 times longer on his phone doing the same stuff I do on a computer I suspect most "smart phones" are not much better.
I happily use only real computers (desktop and laptop) for internet activities.

Yes. If I'm sick during a challenge and I manage to actually select something specific I rarely enjoy it even if it's a title I've anticipated viewing. That's assuming I stay awake long enough to watch it. I'll usually just find a tolerable channel on the TV having qualifying content (sometimes that's almost impossible) and cat-nap through that.

I remember in my pre-challenge days being sick for a few days and plowing through a whole box of previously unseen kung fu tapes one after the other. It was pretty surreal.

Yeah, being sick sucks. I ended up nodding off during Cat o'Nine Tails and had to start the whole thing over.

OK, I'm finally getting to some actual exploitation. I was flipping through Youtube and found a flick called Escort Girl from 1941. It starts out as a fairly routine tale of an agency hiring young women and men as "escorts" and then about 14 minutes in, WOW, we get an insert of a burlesque dancer baring her breasts, covered only by glittery pasties on the nipples! Finally, a sin and sorrow flick that delivers the goods! That's all there is, but at least it livened up the film.

I woke up early this morning and couldn't get back to sleep so I popped in Creepozoids. Set six years after an atomic war, five survivors take refuge in an abandoned research facility when an acid rain storm hits. Then the trouble starts.
An Alien clone, this is chocked full of cheesy bad movie insanity from obviously stuffed giant rats to the out of left field ending. There is even a Linnea Quigley shower scene (which brightened up my morning quite a bit). A classic so bad it's good movie which I had a great time watching.
It also got me thinking, shouldn't director David DeCoteau be on the safe list?

Every challenge I try to fit in at least one movie serial, so due to my love of all things robotic I went with The Vanishing Shadow. And this one has what's probably the clunkiest monstrosity ever committed to celluloid:
These lesser known serials remind me of lower-tier giallos and spaghetti westerns in that you can't really differentiate one from the other after you've viewed your share of them, and they end up as one big continuous blur in your mind. In fact, some of the plot was later recycled for Bela Lugosi's "Phantom Creeps". Still, tons of fun.

This Grindhouse Blu-ray of Massacre Mafia Style looks amazing. Way better than it has any right to. Enjoying it better this time. At least it doesn't seem like it was made up as it went along like Gone with the Pope did.

Supersoul Brother aka The Six Thousand Dollar Ni**er may be the most black blaxploitation movie I've ever seen.

I've been using my phone mostly. It's a little harder to post with but very convenient to check while sitting on the couch.

Today was a good day for the challenge. This challenge (along with the October's horror extravaganza) really makes me watch genres and films that I'm not naturally drawn to.
This morning I watched Viva Las Vegas while checking library books for defects (my job is super boring). I'm a sucker for musicals and cheese. There is a bland earnestness to Elvis's acting, and you can tell that he's just waiting to film the next musical number. As usual, Ann-Margerat is absolutely stunning (that hair! those clothes!), and the ensemble is pretty decent.
When I got home, I rewatched Island of Lost Souls. I'm a big fan of the film and like to pop it in from time to time. This time I was really struck by how wonderful the set is. Charles Laughton is fiendishly malicious, and his fate is pure pre-Code gold!
I just got done viewing Brotherhood of Death on Netflix. It's my first blaxploitation film of the challenge, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a genre that I'm not too familiar with it, and I'm hoping to get to some more well known films such as Super Fly and Coffy later this month. The film is overtly political, and several of the speeches could be used today with only a few moderations. Also, I'm pretty sure that it's no accident that the ill-fated sympathetic sheriff looked a lot like Andy Griffith. There's a prevailing sense that whatever genial quaintness the South possessed has been irrevocably destroyed.

I love Japanese Exploitation flicks from the 70s!
Bohachi Bushido: Code Of The Forgotten Eight (1973) was no exception.

Have most of the day off once I run a few vital errands. Plan on starting it off with a Bronson/Winner film I PVR'd last night...The Mechanic. Watched the main title opening during breakfast and I'm already feeling the love, hard.

I can now say I've watched my first ever Troma film. I saw The Toxic Avenger was on Epix Drive In, so I thought, why not?. I have to say I enjoyed it quite a bit.

The movies they produce are still genuinely funny and carry on the torch pretty well I think. Things like Poultrygeist and Return to Nuke 'Em High are great. The stuff they distribute on video are mostly bottom of the barrel crap though.

I watched Shock Treatment, the sorta-but-not-really sequel to The Rocky Horror Picture Show. As a showbiz satire, it's not as successful as it could be, but the songs are first-rate, and Jessica Harper is fantastic as always.
I'm planning to get to 60s youthquake flicks designed to separate teenagers from their allowances, like The TAMI Show; Head, and A Hard Day's Night, intended to exploit the popularity of some British Invasion pop group that was destined to fade into obscurity.

There's a point where it's better to just walk away than trying to polish a turd over and over. One of the few movies I never completed, I turned this off when before the last, or one of the last, stories was about to being. Lloyd is presenting all of them and he's goes "the twist to this story is blah blah blah". It was awful up to that point but screw sitting through the rest of it after that.

I'll concur they are better now than they were in the 2000s. They're at least doing better stuff now than Full Moons doing, my example being Gingerdead Man vs Evil Bong. I finished it thinking that they never really had a battle between each other. The first 10-15 minutes I was wondering what any of that was about. Padding it out I guess.
