It does have regular subtitles. For some odd reason the CC is the first option, if you hit the Subtitle button on your DVD/BD remote, you'll get the Subtitles.

I believe it's Option #2.

Thanks for the tip. I'll check again.

I just hit 100, with a Randolph Scott western on Encore Westerns, Gunfighters. Any thing else I get in today will be gravy.

Watching a Poison Ivy triple-bill. Alyssa Milano is definitely my favorite Ivy.

Typical of this genre, the nudity gets better as the movies get worse.

Don't watch the fourth one then! It might as well have been made-for-TV... maybe it was actually...

Just checked, and YES IT WAS! Stupid idea! I think I ranted about the fourth one before somewhere.....

It's better than the handful of Troma movies I own, like the Tox Box, where there's zero quality control when it comes to subtitles. So if you're looking at a subtitle file, it can look like this

Code:
1
00:02:17,440 --> 00:02:20,375
Senator, we're making
our final approach into Coruscant.

2
00:02:20,476 --> 00:02:22,501
Very good, Lieutenant.
In this case, the empty line indicates the end of the subtitle. What happens when you're doing subtitles at Troma? Somewhere in the middle of the movie you don't have that ending indicator, so what starts getting displayed on screen is things like

Senator, we're making our final approach into Coruscant. 00:02:20,476 --> 00:02:22,501
For today I'd like to finish 2 more movies to hit 45. Tenement: Game of Survival is next on my list and then I think a western is next on the pile.

Yeah, I rented that one once.

Actually, even worse: I rented it a SECOND time then realized I had already fast-forwarded through it a while before.

I had the same reaction when I popped in the Blu-Ray for the first time for this challenge (I had the DVD before).

Except for my reaction was 'What the fuck is this?'

Clicking through the available Subtitle options on my remote quickly fixed that.

I just used my first Wild Card. I was in the mood for some Star Wars tonight, and found a documentary called Jedi Junkies on Netflix. The reason I used a wild card for it, was it was close to the 20% on Rotten Tomatoes, but was just slightly over at 22%

The rules are kind of flexible. I have no problem fudging a couple percentage points.

Thanks for a great challenge, Caligula. I ended out with 103, with my goal as 100. I also had more than half of my entries being first time views, so I'm happy with my list.

Do we count May 1st for this or are we done? I might watch a couple I didn't get around to today.

Re: Sixth Annual Drive-in/Exploitation/B-movie Challenge April 1-30 2015

35 films watched, of which
32 were first time views
9 seen in a theater during the 2015 Calgary Underground Film Festival (17 seen there in total)
18 off of my unwatched pile
Finished the Cult Terror Cinema 12 film collection
Finally watched both films from the Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Essentials
Started on the Drive-In Cult Classics 200 set

Saw some highlights like Freaked, Rodan, the stunning Blu-ray of Gamera from Shout Factory and the 4 Cronenberg films on the big screen.

And some lowlights like Carnival of Crime... not too many disappointments, I guess!

All in all it was a good month for me!

Thanks Caligula!

And now onto my One Degree of Gyllenhaal challenge for May!

Re: Sixth Annual Drive-in/Exploitation/B-movie Challenge April 1-30 2015

I had a great time with the challenge! Thanks to Caligula for hosting! I finally took care of some blind-spots: Super Fly, Coffy, and Death Race 2000. I also watched my first real eurospy film as well as several sexploitation films that are outside my normal viewing tendencies.

Stats
53 watched movies
46 FTVs
11 movies out of my unwatched pile

3 movies about keeping brains alive
3 movies featuring Gamera
5 movies with predatory LGBT characters (1 just heavily implied)
1 movie with headache-inducing red
53 movies more enjoyable and watchable than Fifty Shades of Grey (which I also watched this month)

Favorite FTVs
1. The Apple
2. Flowers in the Attic / Petals on the Wind
3. Super Fly
4. Wing Chun
5. Coffy

Technically, we are done, but if you aren't participating in the May Challenge you can go ahead and continue today. We only stopped counting May 1 because of the May challenge.

Re: Sixth Annual Drive-in/Exploitation/B-movie Challenge April 1-30 2015

I didn't finish anything today. I started a western where the credits shows the guy riding into town on a wagon and when he gets there, he pulls down a wanted poster. So you know who he's going after. He walks into the bar where the wanted guy is and they talk to each other as is typical in that situation. Guns come out and the wanted guy ended up killing the guy that came for him, so nope, the movie sure isn't about him anymore.

My May challenge is westerns, so I'll pick it up again later tonight.

Re: Sixth Annual Drive-in/Exploitation/B-movie Challenge April 1-30 2015

Wrapped up my challenge with two beach movies (first time I've ever been able to work them into this challenge! and I'm double-counting them in the May MYOC challenge) and the 2008 Death Race remake, which is a little A-list but is carsploitation in prison, so how can it not count? Oddly, I've watched the two DTV sequels but never seen this before.

I could've done better (I took two weeks off around my vacation), but still hit a personal high for this challenge. I especially would've liked to fit in more Westerns, but there's always the historical challenge for that.

Ironically, one of the movies I didn't get to was Damnation Alley, my early mention of which created a rules change. I'll save it for July.

Thanks, Caligula!

Not to mention about Death Race, Jason Statham is on the safe list.

The only WANTED I can find is the one with Angelina Jolie and it sure ain't no western. Can you give me more info? Like, who's in it?

If you want some western suggestions, check out my post (#8) in the list thread for this challenge. I watched 19 westerns (out of 40 films) and most were pretty good.

Also, you can find lots of great westerns on YouTube, both Hollywood and Italian.

Re: Sixth Annual Drive-in/Exploitation/B-movie Challenge April 1-30 2015

Well didn't get anything in on the last day since I decided to go see the new Avengers movie. Overall my challenge was mostly a success as I hoped to get 50 movies in and I ended at 51. I didn't get to finish my Pinky Violence set but the last remaining film will likely be this weekend's viewing. Otherwise I could have probably hit 60 or so but I got busier than expected the last week. Great challenge as always and now I can't wait to go through and check out everybody else's lists!

My bad, I started to watch Wanted http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0062047/reference but then I switched it to Sartana in the Valley of Death http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0066333/reference because I'm Trevor and my OCD can't let me watch the first movie in the set, Buddy Goes West, and later jump to the 3rd movie on the menu.
