Okay, can we slow this thing down a bit? Were in double figure days now and it seems like this challenge just started yesterday.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 10th Annual October Horror Movie Challenge (Oct 1-31) Pt

In the interest of continuing to immerse myself in chainsaw mayhem while remaining oblivious of the original movie, I followed up yesterday's viewing of Texas Chainsaw with the 2003 remake. I liked this one less--the story was more cut and dried, and I'm not a fan of Jessica Biel. No points for nudity on this one either. Shit-ton of special features on this New Line Platinum disc--kinda makes me nostalgic for the old days of DVD features. Even so, I'm probably not going to watch these.

While I'm not a big horror watcher, I guess my theme of the month will be teen slashers.

Spoiler:
It's always fun when a big star shows up in a movie like this only to suffer a brutal death, as Minnie Driver did here!

Stage Fright is a really clever idea but not being a broadway fan I found the execution of horror elements downplayed much of the film. I wish someone would make a more horror oriented no holds barred musical, in addition to Poultrygeist.

I know! My "too watch" pile is growing faster than my viewed list. October needs to happen more often.

In college I'd go to a bar with some friends and play Buzztime Trivia. I'd sign in with my initials R-J-A. Someone asked, "who's the rja?" pronouncing it as a word and not spelling out like initials. So "the rja" sounded to us like a wu-tang name, and since wu-tang clan ain't notin' to fuck wit, it stuck.

Not to mention, you got to make room for the time when you're not in a horror mood. I've turned a couple of movies off when I thought, 'no let's watch something else for a change.'

I can do for 11 of the 12 Challenges pretty easily now, but not October. The OCD is even stronger than normal this time. My wife wanted to talk the other day and I held up my hand and said, "Save it for November."

I'm indecisive and it could change, but probably Mary, Mary, Bloody Mary, School of the Holy Beast and maybe something Franco.

I did catch Island of Death (76) early this morning and wow. It's basically the Eurotrash softcore version of Natural Born Killers. That poor goat.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 10th Annual October Horror Movie Challenge (Oct 1-31) Pt

Seeing "lesbians" and "prostitutes" in today's theme, (and since the IMDb didn't turn up anything 'horror+lesbians' on Amazon Prime), and since Zombie Strippers isn't at Amazon this year, I began with Stripperland. Which was low budget, slightly too long, but otherwise thoroughly bizarre and enjoyable. Lots of asides and amusing seconds strung together with cameos and stripper-zombies. Recommended.

Next, after Hulu told me that it, too, had no lesbians or prostitutes - and that searching "sexy horror" applied equally to daytime aerobics(!) and all their horror films.... - I re-watched Frankenhooker and much better appreciated the comedy this year. Hulu picked my next film, and Basket Case 2 was nowhere near as good, seemed to have a very conflicting message and prurience and sideshows, but was good enough.

Look for "The Karnstein Trilogy" from Hammer:

The Vampire Lovers (1970), featuring Polish born actress Ingrid Pitt as the lesbian vampire Mircalla Karnstein, aka Carmilla.

Lust for a Vampire (1971): a loose sequel to The Vampire Lovers, with a revived Countess Mircalla seducing and murdering her way through an exclusive girls' school.

Twins of Evil (1971): often considered a prequel as it appears to be set earlier in time than the other two films.

I don't think any are available on Amazon Prime but they *might* be on Hulu.

I watched that for Deserted Island Horror day. Very much a treat for my sick, perverted mind. One of the better video nasties methinks.

Had fun so far today with Video Murders and The Unholy. Should easily get at least one more in today. Tomorrow's Fangoria covers theme has so many possibilities. Love it.

I remember Entrails of a Virgin being a fun pinku movie, like japanese sex Evil Dead, when I saw it so sought out it's sequel Entrails of a Beautiful Woman; what a disappointment - meanspirited and although it has an epic monster there's too little too late aside from the softcore japanese flesh with all it's fog censored glory.

I enjoyed the hallucinatory soap opera pacing of nunsploitation Malibimba the Malicious Whore previously so checked out it's remake, Satan's Baby Doll, which was hammy with over the top actoring and more schlock but it's pacing was better and supernatural themes more pronounced... eurosleaze worth seeing for those inclined even if it's "cheaper" than the original.

I'm at about 27, so still on track to hit 100. On days when I want to slow down a bit and just watch one or two things, I just make up on weekends with horror marathons.

I watched Lust for a Vampire on StageVu earlier today. It had nekkid boobses and some lesbian vampire seduction, but the main lusting is hetero.

I really hope this is just a temporary forum search glitch, but a lot of the old list threads aren't coming up.

Sexy Killer (2008) is one of the most "fun" movies I've seen so far this year filled with meta humor, kinetic action, and light hearted dark humor (haha). It's like they out-Scream-ed Scream, faster paced and darker without as much "mystery."

Sounds like a great theme for May's Make-Your-Own Challenge, if you can wait till then. (Yes, I'm pimping a challenge I host, again.)

just watched Absentia and was reminded of this:

http://www.freddyinspace.com/2012/05...rk-latest.html

Man, a lot go workplace stress right now. I have got to find a new job. At least I have the horror challenge to relax with.

Anyone in Oklahoma hiring for midlevel management and/or similar non-skilled but common sense type job?

Also, damnit!

And tonights beers:

I sent this updated picture to Chad, but I've added a DVD to each of the Celluloid Terror prize packs. 2 winners will now receive these 3 dvds
