what is THE most expensive horror DVD/BR
 

i see a lot of horrors go for a lot, a lot in the $50+ area. what are some pricey horror movies. my most so far is Evils of the night.

Rawhead Rex, going for anywhere between $81.00 and $370.00 + shipping. At that rate I'll never own it because I'll never pay that much for this DVD. Scalpers are insane.

I had not realized how expensive the Hammers had all become. It might be time to sell off my entire collection of them, all bought when they were new releases. I did get lucky on that Count Yorga double feature, I was able to snag one for under $10 just a couple of years ago.

So odd that these Hammer Titles go for so much when they are almost all readily available in very good Region 2 packages. For the prices those are going for someone could buy a good all region DVD player AND the Region 2 disc, and have enough left over for a burger.

I dunno, since Hammer films are from the UK, do they have their own transfers rather than using NTSC ones?

A lot of them are on BD now, so PAL speed up would never be an issue, and for the most part decent all region players do a nice job converting. I've very rarely noticed PAL speed up issues. The Russ Meyer's R2 discs had it and it bugged me, and some things with video masters did, but for the most part, not an issue.

Twilight Time's Blu-ray of Fright Night typically sells for well over $120.

With a German BD soon coming out and Twilight Time announcing they are producing another run, there is little need to pay that kind of extortion.

The Hammers just don't seem to sell, even in the UK. Some of their UK distributors are sitting on HD transfers while they get released in Australia.

I've seen the original DVD-R of 'Snuff 102' (2007) go for $200-400. I saw an auction for a copy last year where the seller declined an offer of $500.

These were limited copies made by the Director and only sold a few online outlets, namely Xploited Cinema.

Even though Massacre Video has re-released the film in a new 2-Disc set, the original DVD-R is still highly sought after.

You had to of bought these when they were released years ago to get them at a regular price. I don't know why they are so expensive now. But I was lucky enough to buy most of these when they were at an affordable price years ago. Not looking to give them up either. One of these DR. Jeckyl and Sister Hyde was one that I wanted but never bought. I probably never will now. I'm not paying those high prices.

If I'm not mistaken, a lot of those titles have licenses or distribution rights that have changed hands since.

I don't think Anchor Bay has the rights to any of the Hammer titles as many of those are being released on DVD & Blu-Ray over in the UK by a few different companies.

Yes, I do remember some of these from Anchor Bay. I still have a lot of the original Hammer releases.
