Help needed from other DVD sellers
 

HI, I have sold on amazon and Ebay for over 14 years. I would sell a few used DVDS etc that I would find -but never in any kind of bulk. We are adding to our wholesale sources and we have found some sources that appear reputable. We have put the DVDS through checks (i.e. opening one of each batch); buying like DVDS off of Walmart.com or going and buying one at Best buy etc. We have sold them and received only good feedback on the DVDS.

WE trust our source but if you read on the internet--a ton of people claim they were kicked off of AMazon for selling bootleg dvds that appeared real--or they felt were real.. Is there any kind of a system to be 100% sure of any DVD(i.e Warner brothers--or boxed sets). We have called Disney a few times on some DVDS to see if they were real, but we aren't sure how to verify 100% on the major movie studio Boxed sets. I read about a program that is supposed to be able to tell if a DVD was copied--but I wasn't sure if it was a reputable Application to download.

The best solution would be to buy direct from the studios--but we aren't that big yet and haven't seen any decent markup there--So we are left to buy from distributors. We are also checking out Ingram (I've bought books from them in the past); Super D etc. --Thanks for any help in Advance.

It can be tough if the Asian bootlegger (almost all DVD counterfeiting comes out of China) uses best practices and clones an original, studio-issued DVD. The counterfeits tend to fall into certain genres more than others. Disney and big box sets are fairly common targets (high-value items with wide appeal). I ended up with an Elementary Season One DVD set off of eBay that I'm fairly sure is a bootleg, though it is virtually indistinguishable from the real deal. Most of the time an experienced DVD buyer will recognize the differences upon opening the item and inspecting it closely. Few bootleggers are sitting around and counterfeiting catalog titles, for example.

I don't believe there are software tools to assess pirated copies.
