Re: Your Most Valuable DVD
Vice Squad (1982) - 50$ used at Amazon. I would list it for sale but I like the movie too much.

Re: Your Most Valuable DVD
Which one would get me the most money if I sold it? No idea.
Which one would I grab if there were a fire? Easy: http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i1...psfee30cc0.jpg Sorry, cats! The DVD set doesn't puke all over the carpet. |
Re: Your Most Valuable DVD
i have that Greatest American Hero Tin as well, but couldn't even tell you where it is or what condition it is in now. i used to keep my DVD's and sets pristine, now, i just don't care about them as i once used to. i much prefer my Blu's. sad really...

Re: Your Most Valuable DVD
In case anyone on here is interested, there is a brand new and sealed Greatest American Hero Deluxe Collector's Tin DVD set available on ebay right now for a 'buy it now' price of $156.00 (including shipping). The seller has over 3,800 transactions on ebay with a 100% feedback rating.

Love that movie. My copy is still sealed, but I might let it go for $900 on Amazon if someone really wants it ...

Rare and in-demand DVDs tend to collapse in price once a better alternative becomes available or goes back into print. |

I suspect the prices will continue to fall as the series is coming out on Blu-ray...in Japan.

Thanks for the heads up regarding the Japan GAH blu-ray releases. I'm such a huge fan of the series yet I had no idea this was in the works. Just checked Amazon.jp and it lists the entire series as being released in four separate volumes with the final volume released in August. Hope we'll see a Region 1 blu-ray release someday...

Re: Your Most Valuable DVD
If you have "Drop Dead Gorgeous" in your collection - apparently that's worth some big bucks on Amazon.
|
Re: Your Most Valuable DVD
Mine used to be "Seven Samurai" Criterion first printing, but now it's probably "Serial Experiments Lain" lunchbox set.
|
Re: Your Most Valuable DVD
The first one that comes to mind is Unearthed Films' release of the Guinea Pig series.
I bought it for $50-60 at Best Buy back in 2005 and it goes for about $120-150 at the moment. |

Re: Your Most Valuable DVD
A lot of the Filmation Shows BCI released prior to going out of business also go for a pretty penny. Good luck in finding Flash Gordon, Secrets of Isis & Ark II, among others for under $40.00. rotfl

Re: Your Most Valuable DVD
First one that comes to mind is Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD, the Best Buy exclusive DVD of the TV movie starring David Hasselhoff. The cheapest one on Amazon right now is >$50, but I'm too much of a Marvel whore to get rid of it. And I've never even gotten around to watching it!
I actually just sold my Anchor Bay Horror of Frankenstein because I found out it was rare, got $40 for it on Amazon. Like others, I have the Anchor Bay multi-disc sets for Supergirl, Army of Darkness and House 1/2. |
Re: Your Most Valuable DVD
Here's another Wallet Buster, The Gerry Anderson "Supermarionation" series [B]Stingray[/B.] The Big River wants a little over $108.00 for a USED Set and almost $245.00 for a new set. :jawdrop:
I got my copy along with Supercar and Fireball XL 5 for $20.00 at a Yard Sale a couple of years ago. :D |

Re: Your Most Valuable DVD
Wow- Drop Dead Gorgeous was one of the first "bargain-priced" DVDs after it had been out for a while- got mine for about 5 bucks which was dirt-cheap at the time. That was one of those discs almost everyone had just because it was cheap.

Re: Your Most Valuable DVD
Looking back on my Amazon titles I've sold in the last few years, I realize I've got rid of mine too cheap. Maybe I need now to go through my current inventory and mark many up.
www.amazon.com/shops/thth70 Maybe even mark a couple down. |
Re: Your Most Valuable DVD
Classic Serials Megapack, which one could get for $5.00 at Uncle Wally's a few years ago, now sells for almost $80.00 for a new set (A Used one sells for about $25.00). rotfl

For me, I'm thinking 101 Dalmatians (animated), since it was released back in 1999 and has not been re-released.

Re: Your Most Valuable DVD
I don`t have any idea what it's worth but I have a leather boxset of Troy that came from the Philippines. It was a gift I never opened since I didn't like the movie in the first place. I also have the Japanese Kill Bill boxsets. I see they're readily available on ebay.
