Don't worry, you have nothing to worry about judging by your list and comments in this thread.

Damn, looks like I fucked up by pre-ordering Amityville. I seem to always pick the titles that go on sale for better right after they are released.

Oh... maybe one person's 'plunge your eyes out before watching again' trash is another one's treasure.

Absolutely haha. I'm not judging anyone's taste on it. Just glad that since you've seen it you didn't have the reaction I did ha! I wouldn't wish the reaction it gave me on anyone

Did you really call You're Next great? That had some horrible actors and put me to sleep. So disappointed in that film. No idea how it got such a high rating.

What is everyone doing for today's theme? Going to check out Cannibal Holocaust.

I loved You're Next. I loved the actors actually and the death scenes were awesome and it was funny. And I love 'Looking For the Magic', what a great song.

Upon queuing the film up I never imagined that I would possibly say this, and I feel a bit dirty in doing so, but the best film of the Challenge for me so far is Dahmer.

I'm at work, so I can't do it now but could anyone give me the satisfaction of making a drink called The Hemorrhaging Brain, post a pic and then drink and give a review?

In a double shot glass:
Add 1 shot peach schnapps
Gently pour in a 1/2 shot of Bailey's Irish Cream
Top with grenadine for the blood

I don't sound like a drunk, do I? I just read about it and want to try it so bad but I'd be satisfied living through someone else for now.

For anyone looking to maximize the T&A in a movie, the first 20 minutes of Virgin Witch has had almost non stop boobs and butts.

Death scenes were cool, but outside the main actress, this was just awful.

Huge recommendation for Nightmare Factory, the super in-depth documentary on K.N.B. Effects. I thought with all the FX-related shows on TV like Making Monsters, Monster Man, Face Off, etc. it might diminish its appeal somewhat, but no. Only complaint is there's no involvement from Robert Kurtzman. It's playing on Epix 10/30.

And don't think it's been mentioned before - Nicotero's The United Monster Talent Agency (aka my new favorite short):

But only when you throw in blue curacao.

I used to make a drink called The Yoda.

8 oz OJ
4 oz rum
1 oz vanilla schnapps
1 oz blue curacao
1 oz triple sec
1 oz peach schnapps

I'd blend it and it would be a nice bright green color. It was sweet, as can be imagined.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 9th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (Oct 1-31) P

Had a great 7 movie day yesterday. I'll be lucky if I fit more than 2 in today.

Woke up and started Shakma. My 13 month old daughter woke up about 25 minutes in and it's been chaos ever since. She was covered in blood, having apparently bit her lip in her sleep. Doctors office, ER visit, 2 stitches and a well deserved nap after, I'm finally finishing up Shakma. She's perfectly fine, eating ice cream now, and I'm thinking it might be a late night energy drink kind of viewing night for me.

Theme Night suggestion for next year "Don't Watch That Film!" (Sinister, V/H/S, 8mm, The Ring, ect)

I suspect you're referring to the Jess Franco helmer 1980 video nasty Devil Hunter, in which case I'm even more curious to hear your thoughts (or on whatever else repelled you so much). Regardless I found it a 4/10... overly long with some sloppy production but also hypnotic with soft wide shots of jungle landscapes or tribal randomness without much dialogue (even limited plot). Slow but interesting in it's exploitative and frequently first person perspective composition, a cheesy shamelessly exploitative fever dream with a cheap looking villain.

Regarding Jess Franco in general, I think he has some ability but gets a bad rap because he lacks artistic integrity often agreeing to tackle soft porn type exploitation shamelessly. I wouldn't put him in the same sentence as Argento (well... before Dracula 3D) or Fulci (who has his share of duds) but I do think Franco's under-rated and has some surreal films that tackle mature themes in an interesting way.

Wow. That sounds like something straight out of a horror movie. One of the creepiest things is kids wondering around my house surprising me in the middle of the night (nevermind bloody kids). That's intense to bite your own lip sever enough to require stitches in your sleep.

I second this... and add Videodrome, Fear Dot Com, The Hills Run Red to examples.

The only semi-decent thing I've seen from Jess Franco was Faceless which I watched in last year's challenge. Otherwise, blech. I do have 'El Canibal' lined up this month, which I'm not looking forward to.

Anyway, after another fairly mediocre day, I ended with The Woman in Black which I quite enjoyed. Doesn't quite make it to 'favourite' status, but it was a good end to the day. It was a lot better than I was expecting and there were a couple of scenes that were kinda creepy.

Nope, Franco is all over the map but I've never found anything he's done to be that bad. I'll post the blog entry up later tonight when I'm done with tonight's viewings. It'll be around 1130 or so.

That's the thing, normally they've got some piece of garbage horror franchise that releases something in October, and makes a killing. People love seeing something scary around Halloween, so I'm really surprised they didn't hold Insidious 2 back until October. Friday the 13th, meh, maybe, works well for a slasher, but closer to Halloween people just get in the mood for something spooky. Of course it still made plenty of money so it all worked out.

It wasn't nearly as good as The Conjuring or Insidious 2, but I thought it was an entertaining throwback to 80s slashers. It felt a lot more like an 80s slasher than any of the recent remake/reboots of the 80s horror movies. The acting didn't really bother me.

I thought it had a great tone, with some brutal kills and effective dark comedy. I liked the vulnerability of the killers, editing, and soundtrack. Some of the supporting characters were underwhelming, one character was introduced and killed off while I was in the bathroom. However I think the movie makes up for that with one of the most likable horror heroines in years.

I've seen a lot of wildly varying opinions about all kinds of movies in this thread, I don't see what's so shocking that some of us might have enjoyed You're Next.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 9th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (Oct 1-31) P

Work is finally starting to catch up with me. These next couple of days are going to be really rough. We've been having some big issues at work that I've been having to deal with, which has kept me at the office much later than I would like. As for tomorrow, I have to go to an interview at 4:45 in the morning! Ugh. I guess that's just part of the job. It wouldn't be so bad if we were given comp time for that or allowed to come in late or leave early, but that's not how it works. I will still be expected to be at work by 8 and work a full day until 5.

I'm at least managing to get in today's theme movie, and a friend is coming over to watch American Horror Story, even though I'd rather just go to sleep. It will be a long day tomorrow. I know I'll be exhausted, but I'll do everything I can to at least watch the daily movie. I will really need to push things on the weekend to make 100 this year.

You're evil! Why are you tempting me like this? Why?!

The only thing that makes me a little iffy on ordering it is the fact that it says it usually take 2 1/2 weeks for delivery. That leaves it pretty late in the month. Plus, I have already been gorging on Shout Factory stuff with those daily deals. I don't know if I'll have a chance to get all of those in this month.
