Hopefully Worse Case Scenario still sees the light of day.

I watched Slashers earlier and thought it was pretty good, especially for a 'video movie'. Was pretty entertaining overall, but it did have some boring bits due to the actors not being that great.

yesterday read the short story and watched the feature length movie version of 'Rawhead Rex' - the movie was pretty bad and was surprised that the water sports scene was retained, but the explicit gore wasn't. Even though Barker did the screenplay his retinkering of the ending really was pathetic when compared to the original short story.

I haven't seen the B&W myself, but the director intended it to only be B&W, and I hear it's the preferred version.
Today I was browsing YouTube's horror movie selection, and I came across a wonderful little silent film called Wolf Blood. After some research I learned that this is considered the earliest surviving werewolf movie. I can't believe I hadn't heard of it before (probably had, just didn't register).
So, problem is that IMDb and the others list it as Drama and Fantasy. I'm thinking due to it's place in werewolf history that I'll count it as horror. But wanted to get opinions as well. Could always go Wild Card. Thoughts?
Some more info.

today watched 'Nightmares in Red, White and Blue: The Evolution of the American Horror Film' - pretty good, but it sort of just scratched the surface of the topic. Question - there's a bevy of scenes from a boatload of films, there's one that has David Cronenberg (or someone who looks him) getting a large pole thrown into the back of him and out his stomach - what's THAT film. I also liked the editing of select scenes/kills from the Friday the 13th movies under three minutes (and surprising to see the full unedited gory as sin bisection of the naked chick in the tent from 'Jason Goes to Hell' - hence why I think this film does not have a MPAA rating)

Tonight I returned to my traditional favorite double feature: Nosferatu and Shadow of the Vampire. It amazes me how creepy Nosferatu is, even on repeat viewings, and Shadow has such great performances (particularly Willem Dafoe).

Speaking of Universal Horror... I found a error in my chronological release date listing I posted here.
Basically the film The Last Performance I had with a 1929 release was originally released in the US in 1927. The 1929 date is a rerelease. I corrected that original post.
Here it is again for any interested parties who don't want to go back:

Spoiler:
I watched The Last Performance last night. It is primarily a melodrama, but after Erik's (Conrad Veidt) romantic hopes are dashed, it veers toward horror. As usual, Veidt gave a great performance, and Mary Philbin was beautiful as always (she also starred in The Phantom of the Opera with Lon Chaney and The Man Who Laughs with Veidt, both horror classics that I would recommend).
The plot is similar to Laugh, Clown, Laugh, but they diverge after the young woman chooses a younger lover over her patron. Interestingly, Lon Chaney's tormented, self-sacrificing clown in Laugh, Clown, Laugh is the sort of role that Conrad Veidt excelled at, while Veidt's vengeful magician in The Last Performance is a role that seems tailor-made for Chaney.

Not feeling too well tonight. Got a pounding headache, so I'm taking the opportunity to veg out on the couch and marathon horror. I'm on my 4th title of the evening. So far tonight I've watched one ep of Walking Dead, 1 Godzilla movie, Rodan, and now I'm watching another ep of Walking Dead.

None. I'm trying to decide whether to personally justify finally buying Repo! and hoping there's a commentary, or picking a Universal Monster. And if the latter, whether I should watch it 'properly' first or not, in my own vague chronological attempt. (Which was such a great idea I borrowed it...)
EDIT:
Oh.
I wrote a big long piece about just how good Repo! is, and apparently it didn't post. Anyway, it's really good: the whole cast does an excellent job - even Paris Hilton, playing Paris Hilton - and the music is by turns both operatic, rock-y, satirical and cleverly-awful. The whole thing works on every level, and probably now ranks in my personal top ten in every one of it's multi-genres: horror, sci-fi, satire, spoof, musical, family drama... It even breaks the meta- barrier at the end, when most of the cast wind up on stage at the finale of an opera, partly singing about how operatic their own lives are!
Anthony Stewart Head is a great flawed hero/antihero/hero/villain, torn by his "secret, Repo life!" and his familial duties. Alexa Vega as his daughter gets to do full opera, mock-opera, rock and pathos and handles them all well. Some of the lines in many of the songs are just brilliantly awful but my impression is that they are pointedly and deliberately so. The plot is by turns ludicrous and believable; crazy and worryingly accurate.. this could well seem like a musical documentary in a few years' time. Paul Sorvino is an excellent pater familias and main villain, while the whole occasional fade-to-comic-strip allows all the different aspects and genres to mesh really well and allows the backstory to be easily interpolated during the main story.
It's a very good film. Excellent social satire, great "body horror" (which I don't enjoy, but this is both restrained and briefly comedically over-the-top so it never crosses over into nastiness. And the music is great. Mad, but great.

The Shining is playing Oct 27 and 30 at a lot of Cinemark (and I think some AMC) theaters across the country. Has anyone been to any of these Classic Series screenings? How is the presentation?

I've continued to waste more time, though this partly had to do with all the time it took to see if I was affected by WBShop being compromised. According to my statements I thankfully haven't been, but anyone that has used WBShop should see if they are. You can find out more about that in the threads in the DVD and Blu-Ray bargain sections.
I was going to do what Shack is doing and watch Nosferatu and Shadow Of The Vampire. I've never seen the original Nosferatu, just the remake which I still have in a clamshell VHS case. I have seen Shadow Of The Vampire and have it on DVD, but I haven't watched it for years. The version of the original Nosferatu I have is in one of the Mill Creek packs, but if I like it maybe I'll upgrade.
I also have The Mist as one of the movies I'm going to watch. I have the two disc DVD and I even have the Stephen King short story book it's in, but I haven't read it yet. Maybe I should read the book first, but I think I'm going to watch the movie in black and white like you advised.
And then I need to start on the Hammer horror movies I haven't watched yet. I still need to print out a list of their chronology. Because WB, Universal, Anchor Bay, and Sony have rights to different sequels I'm going to have to keep going back and forth between sets. I'm looking forward to it though, and if I finish the movies I'm going to get to Hammer House Of Horror!
Only 7 movies watched so far and it's October 8. I better get watching or else there's no way I'll be able to catch up. I'll check back in on Friday with hopefully more to say than how I need to watch more.

Over the last couple years I have seen MANY. They look fantastic! There's nothing like seeing movies on the big screen. When I saw Jaws twice last year (a movie I've seen a million times, of course) it was like seeing it again for the first time! I think I had tears in my eyes! Get a ticket for both nights!

Watched X-Ray (on Blu Ray, lol).
I dunno....was this supposed to be camp at times or comedic? Or was it just...weird? And kinda bad?

Watched The Thing From Another World for the B&W theme night. (Couldn't find the subset film streaming anywhere here in Canada.) Now to find an appropriate night to watch the John Carpenter masterpiece and the prequel.
