I'll suggest Ivan Rasimov for actors

I keep thinking of possible actors and then refer to the list and realize we've already used them! It must be from the couple of times I didn't attempt the checklist.

Claude Rains is an old-timer, I'm surprised we never did him though he has only 4 movies but at least 3 of them were significant.

It also seems reasonable to reuse some of the classic ones that have bunches of movies to choose from (like Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff or Vincent Price).

The only person that I could find so far that wasn't used that has a good selection of horror films is Jeffrey Combs which also matches up with some of the other checklist items/theme nights. Most of the others I found only had a small selection of horror films behind their belt.

I have bought mystery lots on ebay, but this wasn't really a mystery lot. It was just some lot I bought a long time ago and never opened until last night. It was cool to find it all horror and Halloween related!

Have we done Angus Scrimm?

Also, it seems like perhaps there aren't enough choices in the "choose 35 of these ..." list at only 41 if I count correctly. Perhaps separate a couple of them out, like horror host, or add some from past checklists?

And maybe add the missing rarer ratings like M and GP?

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 9th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/3

Added Jefferey Combs, Ivan Rasimov -or- Robert Quarry, Brinke Stevens and Ray Milland. And that covers 12 spots.

Definitely. I was just focusing on getting at least 10 first-timers on the list.

Added him yesterday.

That was next on the agenda. Any suggestions for returning or new entries?

Or perhaps instead of choosing 35, we could choose only 30.

Oh, and feel free to throw out suggestions for returning actors. We still have 8 more spots to fill.

Either's fine by me. This method would definitely speed things up.

Returning actors are Danielle Harris, Tony Todd, Robert England, and Bill Mosley. All of them have somewhat new movies out too.

Was wondering, what are some awesome horror news websites. If someone can DM me a list, that would be awesome.

Suspiria is the first DVD I'm having sent from Netflix.

I'll probably be starting with Blood for Dracula or Flesh for Frankenstein. Probably.

Planning on getting at least one of the individual Universal horror blu-rays this weekend., so I may open with that, probably the wolfman. But I have to go buy it first, which I haven't done yet.

Katherine Isabelle would be a worthy actress to include in the checklist. Ginger Snaps, American Mary, Freddy Vs Jason, Carrie TV remake, etc... http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0410622/

Derek Mears (aka new Jason) would be another choice pick - Hatchet III, Predators, Hills Have Eyes II (remake), Cursed, etc. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0575216/

Sheri Moon Zombie is another option (we've already got Lords of Salem on subset pick so might as well) - Halloween remakes, Toolbox Murders remake, Devil's Rejects, etc. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0600667/

Instead of naming a specific actor/actress maybe listing a category for them would work; i.e. "starring a musician."

I've frequented Dread Central, Horror Digital, and Arrow In the Head before. I don't know how cutting edge they are in terms of horror news but there's some enjoyable banter and occassional announcements.

Well I like to play video games in my spare time, so to coincide with the challenge I'm going to focus just on horror video games for the month of October, I was just curious if any others were doing the same. Playing a game like Dead Space can be just as pure of a terrifying experience as watching a horror movie. Thanks for the heads up on the checklist having a MST3k item, I always love an opportunity to watch one of my favorites like the Touch of Satan or Manos.

I am planning on starting the challenge with Rosemary's Baby, to coincide with the Criterion Collection theme night.

I hope to do this when I have some time but not enough for a movie. but retro-style: Ghouls and Ghosts, Devil's Crush, etc.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 9th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/3

Given the emphasis on having as many of the subset films available via streaming as possible, in the interest of helping out those that might not have easy access to some of the movies, I decided to try out a (fairly) new site I'd heard about called Stream Nation. It allows you to upload videos (and/or grab them from sites like YouTube and Dailymotion) that can then be streamed through the site -- but only you and your designated friends can view them; they're not public.

I've got about 2/3 of the subset films up on my page already and should have the rest up before the end of the month. If anyone is interested, shoot me a PM with your email address and I can send you an invite to access the collection.

Nice, I don't have any retro games available, but I recently got Dead Space 3 and Amnesia: The Dark Descent, so I'll spend some time playing those in October.

That's a great idea. Last year it was a big issue for me getting DVD copies of all of the subset films in time, as I only have one disc out from Netflix at a time, and a lot of the subset choices we had were listed as a wait(probably because of the challenge ). This would be a great solution. I will send you a PM and try it out!

I'm planning to play Alan Wake during December. Depending on my time (and just how obsessed I get with finishing GTA4), I may also finally finish BioShock. I didn't start gaming again until a couple of years ago, so there is a cornucopia of fantastic games to fill my time!

Not sure if I'm going to watch anything for the Criterion crossover. I plan to watch Rosemary's Baby for movie night with friends. I know that Blood for Dracula and Flesh for Frankenstein are both available through Netflix, but they look... odd. And since I'm never watching Salo, the completist in me know I'll never watch everything Criterion has to offer.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 9th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/3

I'm happily getting together my list of films and television to watch in October. I'm got about fourteen qualifying films in my unwatched pile. I also have a backlog of Supernatural, True Blood, and The Vampire Diaries to watch. If I had a Primer-esque time machine, I would contemplate rewatching some Buffy and Angel.

Perhaps, I need to use this challenge to push myself into more uncomfortable areas of film. I've been getting better about watching bloody and gory films, but my threshold is still pretty low.
