This is great as I really wanted to include CLM in my viewing for this challenge, but the 6+ hours was a bit daunting. Fair play in this case.

Just a FYI if you haven't been following the CLM thread, but the bonus disc is only available thru tomorrow night if you order directly from the website.

Hey guys, I haven't been around in a while, but October always makes me think of the 100 Horror Movie Challenge, so I decided to drop by and see if that was still a thing. Glad to see I wasn't disappointed.

Holy Crap GW, what an amazing lineup of prizes! I feel bad I haven't been able to confirm what I'm donating yet, I was hoping to before the start of the challenge but I don't want to commit to it until it is in hand.

What is everyone starting with as their first movie?

I'm kicking off with Night of the Scarecrow. I tried to watch it a few months back and dozed off. It's been on my entertainment center ever since.

Nice. I'm debating what I want to start with, I was going to pick something that goes along with the day's theme but the only thing in my never watched pile has a runtime of almost 2.5 hours and that isn't working out tomorrow night haha

My work schedule has changed so I'm working a bit later than usual for the challenge this year. Runtimes are going to play a big part in what I watch on those days where free time is more limited.

The challenge starts on a Movie Night, and I believe the person who is selecting the films for the evening is going with Sleepy Hollow and The Ghost and Mr. Chicken.

Ah good, I just ordered this one recently (because of that damn 4 hr bonus disc) and was almost thinking about not including it due to length to entry ratio.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 9th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/3

I was formatting my list earlier this evening in preparation for October 1, when it occurred to me that I haven't made my yearly plug for TV horror host Svengoolie (Rich Koz). Svengoolie airs nationally Saturday evenings on MeTV. The original Svengoolie (Jerry G. Bishop) actually passed away this month, and I'm dedicating my viewings to his memory this year. MeTV also broadcasts several horror-related programs, such as Night Gallery, Thriller and The Twilight Zone.

Starting with Rosemary's Baby, a classy choice to kick off the challenge.

My Criterion pick, Godzilla:KOTM. I've already checked out the Japanese cut in a previous challenge. So I'm doing the Raymond Burr version this time around (I'm excluding my annual bodycount-tally for this particular title)

Be *very* careful with that imdb list! Many titles listed are not "horror" and a quite a few were not produced by Universal! Island of Lost Souls, for example, was produced by Paramount. Universal simply holds some distribution rights.
I expect to be mostly filling in movies from this era that I have on DVD or blu ray but haven't watched my copies of yet, so the list is helpful in checking whether I had missed anything, and I'll utilize your list for the same purpose.

I love so many of the horror movies of the Hollywood studio era.

Really impressive prize packages. I wasn't even aware of the Hands of the Ripper DVD/blu ray release (I may have read about it in advance and forgot). I know that it is a movie that has a dedicated following. I should keep up with upcoming releases better.

I'm starting with Kyûketsu dokuro-sen (1968) just coz it's basically the only Criterion horror film I haven't seen (there is also Empire of Senses, but I think that's going to be scary in a different and more unpleasant way).

Probably "The Fields," which I won last year after the challenge. I've been waiting a year to see it! I also have "Black Waters of Echoes Pond" and "Sinister" to watch that day that have been waiting since my birthday thanks to EdTheRipper. I'm stoked to see all of these.
