Regarding markings/numbers/colored circles on Region 2 DVD's

Anyone or any Brits,(with respect), know what the colored circles with different numbers on them mean on the DVD's I get from the UK? I asked Amazon UK but they couldn't answer me!!!-screwy- Any info would be appreciated. I'm just curious about them???

They're age ratings- the number is the age that the content is considered 'appropriate' for.
