Well, since I mentioned My Big Fat Greek Life independent of knowing you have it in your library, it seems pretty clear that God wants you to watch that.

I've never seen the series My Big Fat Greek Life but it *can't* be as good as Firefly. I almost purchased a copy of MBFGL at BL some time ago (I think it was $3 or possibly $5) but didn't based on IMDB ratings. Of course as both are rather short series, especially MBGGL, you should be able to watch both before the end of the month. So... based on IMDB I'd watch MBFGL first saving Firefly for last just in case the ratings turn out to be accurate.

Got in 4 or 5 viewings so far this morning and this afternoon before sleep took a hold of me and I took a nap in front of the tv on the couch, but now I am refreshed and am ready for another few hours of viewings. Headache hasn't really went away though.

Just some basic extrapolation based on her previously stated fondness of sci-fi. If God wants her to watch MBFGL then who am I to interfere?

Me... I'm currently watching S4 of Big Bang Theory. I stopped watching the broadcasts during S3 and am just now catching up on the series. It remains one of my favorite programs of the past 10 years.

Just caught my first episode of Being Human, the US version on SyFy, not the UK version. Didn't seem like that bad of a show, but I have to wonder, do all the episodes end on a cliffhanger ending? Or is it just because next week is the season premiere?

LoL! Ok, guys, it's ok! I'll watch both if I get around to them! I need to finish Kids in the Hall first, but I think I'm going with MBFGL first as I've always enjoyed the movie and it'll be a good excuse to watch it again. I have heard bad things about the TV show as well. I picked it up at Big Lots anyway.
I agree, it was meant to be if it was mentioned randomly and I have it!

Please take this comment in the jovial manner in which it was intended, but how on earth do some of you find the time to watch the amount of TV that you do? I guess that some of you have it on in the background whilst you are doing other stuff, but I can't do that, I like to focus on what I'm watching!

I need a site administrator to change my user name to The Prophet MinLShaw.
Insomnia, major health problems and unemployment are the big three reasons. Not having the responsibilities of parenthood, or at least having older children who don't need as much attention, also helps. Our healthy, hard-working family people tend to not watch nearly as much in any given challenge. They have to console themselves that they're healthy, employed and have families.

I've found that the TV on DVD challenge is perfect if you have kids/family. I just completed the first season of The Andy Griffith Show and the kids enjoyed it as much as I did. And the challenge being in January works well with the time off school for a few days at the beginning of the month.

Just caught my first episode of Arrow. This seems to be a lot different than the Green Arrow that I was used to on Smallville.

So far I've finished Family Guy Vol. 9 and South Park Season 15.
Working on Futurama Vol. 7 and the entire In Search Of series. So far I've finished season 1 and 7 of that. I think I'll have the rest of it finished by the end of the month.

Re: Tune in to the TV on DVD* Challenge: same Bat-time, same Bat-forum!
Decided last night to revisit Aqua Teen Hunger Force Volume One.
It's been a while since I last saw any ATHF (or its subsequent incarnations), but it was always my favorite [adult swim] series. Master Shake cracks me up and I love Meatwad. Carl's fun, too. There's something about the flash fiction/non sequitar format of the series that really works. It's absurdity at its finest, really. In the beginning, they were loosely presented as detectives but that was to mollify Cartoon Network executives who couldn't wrap their heads around three anthropomorphic fast food items hanging out and doing nothing all day. Because, apparently, those executives hadn't heard of Seinfeld.
Being the earliest shows, these are the ones I've seen most in reruns, plus I've watched this DVD set at least twice over the years. I was afraid that familiarity would lessen my enjoyment but I found instead that there was a sense of reconnecting with old friends. Lots of dialog from this series has entered into the lexicon of my friends, so it was amusing to hear them spoken in their original context again. Plus there are two episodes with the Mooninites and two with the Plutonians, and those are great guest characters.
My favorite episode in the collection remains "Bus of the Dead", where Shake is convinced that the school bus occupied by Mothmonsterman is actually Dracula. Just the idea of them watching a movie called Assisted Living Dracula alone cracks me up! "Dumber Dolls" is another favorite, where Frylock gets Meatwad the Happy Time Harry doll, which turns out to be the most depressing toy of all time. There's a local family owned heating and air business, and I swear whenever I see their commercials I think the middle-aged son looks like Happy Time Harry.
As far as the DVD package is concerned, I'm glad Warner Bros. made it a 2-disc set instead of a flipper. There's not much in the way of bonus content, though. We get the original cut of the pilot "Rabbot" and a 3:50 clip that was produced for the 2002 San Diego Comic-Con. There are three commentary tracks; one for the original cut of "Rabbot" and one for "Mayhem of the Mooninites" - both of which are excruciatingly dull. The third is for "Space Conflict from Beyond Pluto" and it features several of the voice cast. It's actually a lot of fun because after a few minutes they quit talking about the episode at all and just start screwing off, culminating in a jam session where they sing in character. Good stuff.

I'm about half way through My Big Fat Greek Life. Wow. Totally understand why this didn't last long. It is getting better as the season goes on, but they could have definitely lost the laugh track. I like that the characters are mostly the same (all but the husband). I think if they had more time, they may have worked out the kinks and lasted longer...
Every once in a while, I laugh, so it was definitely worth the $3 I spent at Big Lots! This last episode is the best, so far, with Yanni.

Re: Tune in to the TV on DVD* Challenge: same Bat-time, same Bat-forum!
I'm feeling pretty scattershot right now. In addition to my usual rolling TV shows, I'm in the middle of a few series:
Buffy: Ongoing project dating back to last TV challenge, working on season 2
The Walking Dead: I've watched the first two seasons on disc and made season 2 part of the horror challenge, but I'm watching season 3 on Amazon video for the first time (used Black Friday credits for the half-season). If I catch up by next month, I can watch the show live for the first time.
Body of Proof: Watching season 2 with family--my kids are Castle fans and have latched onto this show as well
Downton Abbey: The first episode was not a hit with the wife but I'll either continue by myself or force her to watch another. I hate to have a lot of stuff that I'm keeping up with on my own, though.
Cheers viewing club: I haven't started this yet and it's hanging over my head.
This is when it's useful to have the challenge list so I can keep track of things.
Unfortunately tonight I had two small increments of time so I did first-time viewings of Portlandia (season 3 ep 1) and Parks and Rec (pilot), both of which had a similar quirky tone (though I don't think Portlandia was mockumentary style). I laughed some but aren't making these a priority for future viewing.

I should hopefully finish Season 2 of SG-1 today. The show certainly improved as time went on even though there were some some irksome continuity issues. The writers do a good job of setting up story threads that will last for six more seasons but they do drop some rather interesting ones.
I'll switch gears and watch S2 of TNG because having unwatched DVDs bothers me after awhile so I want to remove it from the unwatched pile.

Finished with My Big Fat Greek Life, really short episodes, only 20 mins on average. Really goes to show how much of actual TV show has been cut through the years to make room for commercials. I rarely watch things live anymore unless it's late at night and I have nothing else to watch. DVR all the way to be able to fast forward.
Firefly, as soon as I pull it out, is probably next.
