Haunted House of Horror (1969 - at least ten years too late with that schlocky Castle-esque title) was 90 minutes of pure tedium interrupted only by the jolt (and joy) of seeing Frankie Avalon
Spoiler:
suffer a fatal knife wound to the groin!
In retrospect, the film was surprisingly gory for the time and the rating (PG), but that's precious little to recommend it by.

I'm leaning towards Halloween 1, 4, and/or 5; possibly Night of the Demons for Halloween.

With respect to those involved in the storm, no government has the power to postpone Halloween. I'd take my kids trick 'r treating on the 31st and pass out candy if I had to do it on a canoe and from the rooftop. Where do you live?

its happened here a few times...last year they postponed it a couple days bc of a bad snow storm

one town over always has it the friday before halloween if it doesn't fall on a fri-sat. which whatever as a kid i got to go out twice, but not celebrating on the day was wierd last year. we still gave out candy for the ones that did show up.

I guess I will join the crowd by watching my 100th tonight. I'll be watching Witchfinder General (or Conqueror Worm if you prefer) for the milestone. This will be my first time to hit 100 on any of the challenges!

I hadn't watched Trick or Treat (1986) in a few years, but now I wonder why not because I just love that movie. It's such a good time, and I love the music. Wish we could get a blu of that one, but I guess that's never going to happen.

After a doctor's appointment in the early morning, I should be having one last major blast. This is gonna be my last chance to cram in all the stuff I've been putting off.

Wow, I won something. How cool is that? Thanks for the congrats everyone.

Watching a horrid movie called Blood of Dracula (1957). Awful. Will be glad to get that thing off my DVR!

So how many of you took off tomorrow for a last hurrah of movie watching?

Can't believe we're already nearing the end of the challenge the time flew by! I watched dracula along with other classics and such today for the first time and it was highly enjoyable. Congrats to everyone that has won the trivia questions as well as completing their goals and to those who still will. I should be able to reach my goal by the end of tomorrow for the checklist and theme nights as well as the number I wanted to watch so that's a relief as I almost couldn't. Hope that everyone has a great halloween and enjoys their time and hope those dealing with hurricane sandy are safe.

Never say never; the oddest things have been turning up on Blu lately. I watched it last year, and I loved it. Hadn't seen it since it was in theaters, and it still held up pretty well.

Just saw Target air a Christmas commercial. Just ...stop.

Tonight I'm gonna give the first time viewings a rest and go with a 1980's double-feature favorite of mine, One Dark Night and The Entity.

As for Halloween viewings I'll probably play it safe with the usual viewings - Halloween 1 - 4, Mad Monster Party?, Trick 'r Treat and whatever else. And might throw in something like NOTLD '90 to mix things up a bit.

from impulse put on Halloween Night *streaming* its an Asylum film but its decent typical slasher type film and the females in it are cute so that always helps.

happy halloween everyone!

Woohoo, when I hit 100 tonight I also passed 150 hours watched. That's the kind of stat that makes people look crossways at you, even though it is really only the equivalent of six days of continuous watching and a bunch of you probably go past 250 hours routinely.

Watching my Horror Movie Empire "sorry we couldn't fulfill your order" consolation DVD Leathal Obsession. Looks like it is going to be pretty shitty.

#5, awesome. Getting that empty feeling creeping up, as the challenge winds down. How is it the 31st already?

Agree. This definetly felt like the fastest-moving horror challenge I've participated in.

I should've gotten to my netflix rental by now, but I'm about to check out NBC's special on Sandy. Thoughts go out to all those who got hit badly by it.

Passed 200 earlier. Still got 2 left to go in the checklist (I'll have 'em done by tomorrow) but the 31st is always a low-count day for me as far as movies go. I'm always watching specials & TV shows (Thank god I brought back the "Extras" category for my list) But I still bet I'll get enough movies in....Hopefully.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 8th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (Oct 1-31) P

Phew, just reached 300, and completed the theme nights, with Satan's Little Helper, which I thought was pretty fun. Had a pretty bad run the last couple of days. I hadn't watched much awful stuff overall, but it seems like I've saved them for the end.

I first found out about this challenge because Mister Peepers had mentioned elsewhere about him watching 300-odd movies in a month - and didn't even win! At the time I felt pretty hardcore for having an average of 30 movies in a month, so I had no clue how 300 would even be possible. Glad I've managed to do it once in my life, it was an interesting and fun experience. Though I'll be lucky if I reach 1/10th of that next year

Still have a few movies lined up for the rest of the day though. We don't celebrate Halloween in Australia, so horror movie marathons are always a good alternative.

I just don't know how anyone could watch movies for over twelve hours a day, thirty-one days in a row to reach 300. It seems like I have the TV on nonstop and I'm still under 100. Not casting doubts, I'm just amazed at how it can be done. I'm guessing regular No-Doze and espresso injections.

I stand behind what I said a couple of weeks ago. I just don't get the point in such insane amounts. There's no possible way you're retaining stuff from every movie at that point. I love the horror genre and I want to be able to have some recollection of what I've watched, not a massive blur of images that I can't quite place.

This year's total for me will be the second lowest in all the years I've been participating. I just got off to too slow of a start and didn't get back on track until the last week and a half or so. It's settled....I've decided that next year I'm going to have to get injured and take the month of October off from work.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 8th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (Oct 1-31) P

Admittedly, the forgettable ones I tend to forget, but I do that no matter how many movies I'm watching. A forgettable movie is a forgettable movie no matter how films you're watching a day

My amount of recollection is the same as it usually is, the only difference I've noticed between this month and a regular month is that I haven't had any time for video games in between and I don't hang around annoying my mum asking when dinner is going to be ready (I just wait til she calls me and duck back into my room). I wasn't originally aiming so high, but I was enjoying myself. A few times I was sick of it by the end of the day and just didn't watch another one before bed. But as mentioned before, I really didn't change much to my usual lifestyle to fit in the challenge. I was just replacing random classic films, TV shows, and Skyrim for horror movies. I'm fairly attentive anyway, but when I'm enjoying myself, my mind is fully on the film. If it's boring, I tend to doze off.

My daily schedule was like this:
0900 - Wake up
0930 - 2 movies - I watch these 2 back to back, the others usually have 5-10 minute breaks in between
1230 - make lunch, start 3rd movie
1400 - do 1 hour [40-50 mins] exercise + 5-10 min shower
1500 - 4th movie
1630 - 5th movie
1800 - 6th movie
1930 - 7th movie
2100 - 8th movie
2230 - 9th movie
0000 - 10th movie
0130 - 11th movie - usually a one hour movie if I'm up to it
0230 - Bed

Although it depended on how long the films went for (some days only 9 movies, I got to 12 once by watching a few 1 hour films). I planned it so that mostly I was sleeping 6/7 hours, watching 15 hours, and 2 hours for exercise and breaks. Won't be doing it again though, I really started to miss gaming and general sitting around doing nothing. My usual lifestyle involves a rotation of movies, video games, TV shows and occasional work. I never go out besides work. Here's my entire film log for the year, to compare to my regular viewing: http://www.listology.com/mightyspark.../2012-film-log. And that's how you watch 300 movies in a month

Happy halloween everyone.

For my halloween night picks, I am debating between halloween 1 and 3, or maybe a horror comedy to double dip with the comedy challenge, perhaps Ghostbusters.
