Omg horrid! That trailer looks like a spoof video instead of a trailer for an actual movie.

I'm in the same boat. I don't want to watch it at all. I think it is an abomination. In the same sense, curiosity usually gets the best of me... I saw Blues Brothers 2000 on opening weekend.

I am expecting to hate it, and I don't want to pay a single cent to see it. But I have a feeling that I will break before the end of the season. If I were a cat, I would be dead.

Haha yep. I see it for $3.99 rental on Amazon Instant. Guessing I'll do that.

This challenge is by far my favourite. Can't wait for it to start.

I've got a few of my favourites on BR now.

On the A Christmas Story 2 front, I expect it to be every bit as bad if not worse then Christmas Vacation 2, but I need to see it at least once.

I just now realized that the recent posts were about a Christmas Story sequel and not the horrid Christmas Vacation sequel. I just watched the trailer and threw up in my mouth a little bit.

Even though I've heard mixed reviews, I'm excited to finally check out "Silent Night, Deadly Night" since the original two movies are being re-released by Anchor Bay in their unrated, uncut versions. Have wanted to check these out for quite some time, but never wanted to pay the ridiculous OOP premium. Two articles and Amazon pre-order link below:

http://www.amazon.com/Silent-Night-D...t+deadly+night

The remake is also coming to limited theaters on November 30 and will be released on DVD/blu-ray on December 4. Trailer was released today:

I'll probably watching a lot of netflix or tv for this chalolenge, as the only Christmas DVDs I have are the He Man She Ra Christmas Special, 1951 Alastair Sim Christmas Carol, with the 1935 version included as bonus content, The man who Saved Christmas, and Santa Claus Conquers the Martians.

Re: It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like the 8th Annual Holiday Challenge (11/19 - 1/1)

Given the criteria, would a special episode of a TV series that is called "A Christmas Special" episode yet doesn't take place at Christmas count for this challenge? Fortunately, I can only think of one right now, but it occurs to me that several (UK) sitcoms produce reunion and special episodes to be shown at the peak family viewing time of Christmas/Boxing Day... and I'm not sure all of them would necessarily be set then... but they're sort of Christmassy in spirit.

Just a quick query/thought.

Argh! I've only just got my (rough) schedule put together for a month of comedy, and now I'm going to feel compelled to try and weave in holiday things through the last week and a half of November... ..or, I suppose, at least try and double up Holiday/Comedy.

Back to the drawing board, then.

Can somebody point me (us) in the direction of the lists that someone made up years ago of all of the TV shows that have Christmas specials?

That would be helpful, I agree. Surely it's close to being identical to a list of every show ever, though...!

(I'm genuinely struggling to think of a show - that I watch(ed), which is obviously a selection bias - that didn't have one.)

Numes did those and was talking about putting it/them in a Google Docs format for ease of editing by anyone but I don't think that happened.

Here are the links to what he put up most recently:

Thanksgiving List (Post 74)
Christmas List (Post 75)
New Years / Misc List (Post 76)

And Wezzo posted some updates to those lists that I don't believe got integrated.

Wezzo 2011 update to Numes' list

I was revisiting the discussion threads from 2010 and 2011 looking for title inspiration for this year and ran across this post from 2010:

Re: It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like the 8th Annual Holiday Challenge (11/19 - 1/1)

I was in a work meeting today and a couple people were debating whether there was a Charlie Brown TV special about Thanksgiving. One checked IMDb and announced as she read, "Yep, a short film from 1973." Other person: "I had no idea."

Yikes.
