The difference in quality between Godzilla and Godzilla, King of the Monsters is almost comical.

Nice, forgot that. I have a couple more Sea flicks in the queue, too. Love the subgenre, just haven't gotten around to it yet this challenge.

Watched Mad Monster Party and while I enjoyed it, I thought it was pretty slow. Maybe if I had found it when I was younger and had it be a traditional viewing... Glad to have watched it as I had never heard of it before this year, though.

Been watching a lot of TV specials. It's amazing what some artists can do to a pumpkin! And for something so transitional...I like carving pumpkins but I don't think I will ever have the skill to do any of the ones I've been seeing on TV.

Been having fun watching the cartoon Addams Family. I had forgotten all about it until Boom started reairing them. They're silly and fun and quirky. I love that John Astin voices Gomez again.

Shucks. I thought I could get today's zombie-theme out of the way earlier today with Route 666, but those guys appeared to be ghosts more than zombies (At least it was nice seeing Lori Petty again. I actually miss her!)

Anybody suggest any rubber suit horror for tomorrow's theme, especially stuff from the 1950's? I haven't seen much beyond the original Creature From the Black Lagoon. I'm open to hearing any favorites that might be easy to stream online.

And these are courtesy of Synapse:

- 42nd Street Forever (Blu-ray)
- Twins of Evil (Blu-ray)
- Red Scorpion (Blu-ray)

A Note:
Spoiler:
Yes, as I mentioned earlier in the thread we were supposed to get a similar arrangement of last year's donations (9 Blu-ray/DVDs, 3 titles, 3 copies of each title). The fact is I dealt with a new PR rep this year and she simply made a mistake. In her defense, she was literally swamped with work and other obligations. That said, it took 15 - 20 email interactions over the course of 5+ weeks to finally get these sent out, so please be happy with what you got.

I would be ecstatic to win any of those, Chad. I've been wanting to get the 42nd Street Forever and Twins of Evil Blu-rays for a while.

I just have to say that the 42nd Street Forever BD is freaking awesome and I hope they release many more volumes of it.

Astin didn't do Gomez for the cartoon series.

Thanks for sponsoring Synapse! Great prizes there.

I just got my Universal Monsters BD Coffin set in the mail, so it's Creature From the Black Lagoon in 3D for me!

If you have Amazon Prime, a few rubber suit films stream, including Yongary from 1967, and I guess Waxworks II counts. From the 1950s they have The Thing and Invisible Invaders which may count.

Wow... thanks to Synapse Films for the donation. I've been trying to figure out where to squeeze in Twins of Evil this challenge so far, it was cool of Synapse to include an isolated score/effects soundtrack.

Deadgirl was extremely disturbing. The undead element in the story is incidental; the film is a morality tale for teenagers, much like Bully or River's Edge. It also touches on the way that men in America treat women as objects to be used for gratification.

How is the Universal BD set? My legacy collection sets have begun to fall to the ravages of time with scratched discs and stuff. On another note, my backordered Army of Darkness BD that I ordered from the Deep Discount Halloween Sale finally arrived today.

Those of you looking for a quality Ozploitation film should check out Next of Kin - some excellent cinematography, great synth score, and a terrific ending.

Edit: Apparently, it only has an Australian DVD release. Worth tracking down online though.

True, but so does tomorrow's subset choice I guess. But yeah, I watched it anyway. Probably my favorite of the Blind Dead films.

Fourthed. Colin is a good film, but perhaps would have been a greater short.

I <3 Synapse Films!

Thank you Chad for all the work getting the prizes for the Challenge!

Going to try and take a short break to watch the Tigers/A's game tonight.

Does anyone know if the movie Muckman would be good for tomorrow's genre category of rubber suit? I can't tell from the advertising if he is wearing a rubber suit or if it is done some other way.

I'd watch it but don't yet own a copy (to be remedied soon) so I'm settling for Terror Beneath the Sea with Sonny Chiba.

I'm watching Creature tomorrow, the film that was recently released in theaters and is among the worst box office performers ever

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 8th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (Oct 1-31) P

Just finished Scar and it was beyond awful. People are trying to compare this to Saw and Hostel. It's just plain boring. None of the actors had any emotions and the director doesn't understand how to pace a film or how to effectively use music. You had chase scenes where the music is more suited to someone slowly making their way through a dark house but not close enough for anything to happen, more of the start of them making their way. Ineffective cheap scares that do nothing because you are bored. None of the actions that anyone does, makes any sense. I'm not talking about the old teenagers being stupid in horror films. It was just nothing anyone did had any logic to it. It just goes on and on because they forgot to put the horror in this "horror" film. It copies films like Saw, Hostel and Scream but it's just so incredibly poorly executed. There's a reason why the guy that directed this hasn't really done too much.

There's a review out there claiming a guy passed out and had the paramedics called. Entirely possible but it would have had nothing to do with this film.

I couldn't get this image out of my head the last hour of the film when I realized that this was as good as it was going to get
