What is the Best Version of The Day of the Triffids (1962)?

I'm looking for the best version of The Day of the Triffids (1962) with Howard Keel. Every release I've read a review on says the transfers are terrible and non-anamorphic.

Was this ever given a decent release anywhere? Overseas maybe?

Thanks.

I'd be interested in that too. I have one of the existing DVD's, it is ok and I'm thankful to have a copy in my collection, but I'd really like a higher quality disc.

I have been search for a quality version (DVD or Blu) of the 1962 version since the format began (1997). To day, we have quality versions of the 1981 TV series, and the 2009 TV series (even in Blu-ray), but what the hell's the hold up on the classic 1962 version?

If the rights still reside with Allied Artists, who released it theatrically, it will be a Warner Archive if released. I seem to remember several different VHS versions from different PD companies. My tape was Goodtimes. Really hard to tell who controls it for sure.

I had the laserdisc years ago, i burned it to a dvd-r. It's widescreen but i wish someone would put out a high quality blu-ray.

From what I read it seems the best version is the DVD from Cheesyflicks. It's WS but *not* anamorphic.

I've got the Cheesyflicks disc. It is indeed non-anamorphic widescreen. The picture quality for the most part is quite acceptable.

Disappointing news overall. I'll check out the Cheesyflicks version.

Thanks for the input, everyone.
