Here're my picks, the days/themes that they go with, and their streaming availability (in order of preference):
October 23rd--Noroi: The Curse (Asian Buffet of Horrors), available on YouTube
October 22nd--The Night Strangler (Inspired by Richard Matheson), available on YouTube
October 17th--2LDK (Apartment Horror), available on YouTube
And let me just throw out one selfish plea: PLEASE PLEASE nobody suggest C.H.U.D. for the "Subterranean Horror" day! Please?

Hi all, this is my second year participating in the challenge and this year I'm on early haven't participated in discussion regarding subsets before so I wanted to ask are we nominating movies that we've seen that we love and would recommend or movies that we want to see the most to discuss?

Either/or.
For instance, A Tale of Two Sisters has been mentioned for the Asian Horror day. That's one of my favorite films of all time, and I never tire of seeing it. However, I suggested Noroi: The Curse, since I've never seen it and it's garnered some positive comments in years past. Either film would be fine by me.
Personally, I like to recommend (and like recommendations of) movies that not everyone has seen or even heard of. My favorite part of the Challenge is discovering new favorites.

Out of the three subset films I suggested earlier, Fearless Vampire Killers would fit on October 2nd (1960's Horror Cinema), I'm not sure that Captain Kronos - Vampire Killer would fit anywhere, and House of Dark Shadows would be a very long shot to fit on October 8th (my birthday!) (Remakes vs. Sequels). I'll be glad to give others to choose from if it's needed.

My recommendations:
- Night Of The Demon/Curse Of The Demon (not sure which title it goes by? from 1957) for the demonic theme night.
- Popcorn (1991) for the slasher theme night or teen screams (maybe also scream queens?).
- Road Games (1981) for road horror theme night.
- The Eye (2002) for asian horror theme night.
- The Cabin In The Woods (2011) for meta horror theme night.
- Mother's Day (2010) not sure which category this falls under, slasher?.
Hopefully I didn't repeat anything from the past years' lists. All these movies sound intriguing I plan to watch these anyways but thought it might be a good idea to suggest for subsets.

My subset recommendation is Creature From the Black Lagoon (1954) which fits rubber suit theme night. As back-ups consider The Brain that Wouldn't Die (1962) which matches medical horror, 1960s, and rubber suit theme nights (maybe Frankenstein too). Dead Heat (1982) which fits zombie. If nothing else Fascination (1979) fits exploitation, All are Netflix streaming

If someone actually chooses C.H.U.D. II I'm overdosing on pain meds.
Yeah, I was planning on doing the same with the subset list.
Well, not all thrillers anyway. Although, I'd definitely argue in favor of quite a few psychological (Psycho), religious (The Ninth Gate) and supernatural (The Others) thrillers.
Have yet to see it, but have the Criterion Blu and was planning on including it. After reading "Shock Value: How a Few Eccentric Outsiders Gave Us Nightmares, Conquered Hollywood, and Invented Modern Horror", the author pretty much made it out to be one of De Palma's great contributions to the genre. If not the case, I'll use a wildcard.
Most definitely. My selections from the past couple or so years were chosen based solely on stellar reviews given ...and were the most well-received of those I've given.

Has the checklist been made yet and I missed it, or still in pre-production?

Queen of Blood and Planet of the Vampires are both on Netflix streaming but not The Sorcerers or Eye of the Devil. The Sorcerers (1967) appears available on youtube.

Yes, there are definitely thrillers that do qualify. I just wanted to caution that just because a movie is classified as a thriller does not mean it would be eligible.

For October 6th, my pick would be "Colin" (2008) It's available on Netflix streaming, it's a different kind of take on a zombie flick, and it's one of the best movies I watched last year. I didn't make it in time for the challenge, but I watched it in November and loved it.
For the 14th, I think "Buried" (2010) would be a good one. It's more of a thriller than a horror flick, but with its "buried alive" theme it fits right in with something Poe would have written, I think, plus it's in the horror section of the store I work at, which is a highly scientific way of deciding whether something is a horror movie. It's available on Netflix streaming also.

So, Chad...
Can we assume that the checklist is locked down now and that there will be no further changes? Just wondering, as I'm trying to finalize my possibilities.

I only have one pick, Dead of Night (1945), simply because it's great and I can't think of anything else to top it. It fits as an anthology and possibly psychological.

Got my list format mostly finalized, let the wife pick out the color scheme so let me know around the start of the challenge when it is posted if it makes you want to spoon your eyes out and I can make it less garish if need be.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 8th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/3
For the past few days I've been wondering if I should participate or not. After telling my family about this and getting their opinion I've decided that yes, I will indeed be participating. The goal for me is 101, and whether I reach it or not I'm really looking forward to it!
I'd like some advice though. 100 movies in 31 days is a lot. 101 movies in 31 days is a lot plus 1. How do you get through it without getting burnout? I'm going to try to make it 101 movies that I have not seen so I think that might keep things fresh. Any tips?

Love horror, and change it up... Don't watch similar movies without sprinkling something in between...
