The Living Skeleton (1968), Genocide (1968)) isn't going to be released in time for the challenge. Hausu (House) (1977) is available, though. It's pretty trippy too.

I haven't seen any of the films in the Eclipse set but I'm extremely excited about it being released. I will definitely pick it up during the first 50% off sale it falls under. Hausu is an incredible mind trip into horror and nonsense. It is one of my favorite Criterion releases.

I just grabbed the Prophecy 5 film set out of the $5 bin at Wal Mart. I've never seen any so I'll definitely at least check out the first.

Yeah, it seems the Youtube channel that had Haunted-ween, HorrorU4Got, has apparently been shut down.

Goke and The X From Outer Space are both an absolute blast to watch. Great looking films too, so it's unfortunate there won't be a separate Blu release.

Ever since Chris Alexander took over as Fango editor a couple years back it's been better than ever and one of the few magazines I read cover to cover. Also, Candy Corn Oreo's.
Looks pretty good, i may have to look for this one myself.

Just, FYI, the films in the Shochiku Horror box are currently available on Hulu+.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 8th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/3

Last year watched my first two Bava films. Hope to finish all the horror films in the Bava sets 1&2 this year.

So which is the better cut of the film to watch, Lisa and the Devil or House of Exorcism?

The first three Prophecy films are worth checking out. The third is less worthy. I will be curious to see what you think of them.

Lisa & the Devil is Bava's intended cut but was a commerical flop; House of Exorcism is the result of a producer twisting Bava's project into a botched Exorcist rip off cash grab.

Those Oreos are exclusive to Target apparently. I need to get some to try.

I definitely want to watch the first 2 at least so I guess I'll make sure the 3rd is in there too.

And Undeadcow is correct about L&TD. I've never even watched HoE because it just looks so awful

I really like Hausu as well, but I put it on for a couple friends one time and it absolutely flopped with them. I guess it's not for all tastes or someone has to be in the right mood.

The Synapse Story, a short (~30 minute) documentary about Synapse Films, is on YouTube and worth a watch in anticipation of the challenge. It's got some interesting perspective on home video releases from laserdisc to modern day.

Apparently there are also "candy corn" M&Ms (white chocolate) and "pumpkin spice" Hershey's Kisses.

If you have haven't picked up the 2 disc Zombie blu-ray, now might be the time to do it. They're re-releasing it soon as a single disc, so the double might be going OOP. Same deal with Maniac.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 8th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/3

So I've got some good news and bad news regarding sponsors...

The good news is sort of an odd situation. I just got an email confirmation that a package from Full Moon has been shipped my way, yet I haven't even asked them to sponsor us yet (plan to soon). I think they've mistook me for a reviewer and are sending a screener DVD because the same thing happened a few months back. So I've saved that DVD and will do the same for whatever's on its way for challenge giveaways and regardless whether they agree to sponsor us again, well, they're gonna be a sponsor either way. I guess at this point that makes them unofficial sponsors, so I'll wait until they actually confirm their sponsorship status before putting their logo on the main post.

The bad news:

Unfortunately we're going to have to decline participating in the movie challenge at DVD Talk this year. We're extremely busy launching our internet television channel on www.digidev.com and don't have much time to do additional projects at this time.
We wish you the best with your event and take care.

I guess there's a first time for everything. At least they were nice enough to actually respond back as opposed to flat out ignoring me.

The elusive The Town That Dreaded Sunlight (1976) is showing on TCM (+HD) on 09/22/12 at 1:15am-3am CST.

Went on a Candy Corn Oreo hunt today, apparently my Target did not put them out yet...

Shame on Something Weird Video...

A local Target about 30 minutes north from where I live had an entire endcap full of these already!

I haven't checked the one closest to me, which is about 10 minutes away. I'll have to do that soon, since myself and one of my closest friends wants to try them!

I've wanted to take part in one of these for the longest time. Being home most of the time now finally lets me think I can pull one off.

You can do iiitttt!

I couldn't hold off on Hammer House Of Horror and longer and busted in to it tonight. I figured the review would be buried among challenge updates at my blog and I didn't want to wait until a month after it came out to review the set. I watched the first 2 episodes tonight and will hopefully have the review up by this time next week. This is a nice appetizer for October's main course.

Thinking of attempting the Theme Nights this year, but for the themes like 'Nether vs Norwegian' and the Bela & Bram one, are we supposed to watch one of each or can we just choose one of them?

I know beggars shouldn't be choosy, and no company has a duty to comply with or even answer all requests for freebies; but at least give an honest answer.

You don't have time to participate Something Weird? What time is involved? In the time it took you to send that email you could have thrown a DVD or two in an envelope, ending your time commitment. Be honest next time and tell us you're too cheap or too broke.

They make someone burn the DVD-R prizes upon request. At least that's what I saw on my packing slip they sent me. Then they also crossed out the one DVD I requested, after they said they were going to send it.

Full Moon just ignored me altogether this year.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 8th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/3

We have a good amount of SWV and Full Moon (including the new Grindhouse titles) at Hamilton's. If you guys want to fill in those gaps from us just so far as including them as publishers it is OK by me, we'll still provide other stuff. If there is one challenge I will really up the prize ante for it is this one.

I have some Shout! stuff all ready to go now...Halloween II Blu and Halloween 2 DVD, RL Stines The Haunting Hour Vols 1 + 2, I am sure I could dig up some more Shout!.

Would like to toss in our DVD only exclusive versions of Twins of Evil and Frankenhooker too, even though the good gentleman at Synapse are already involved.

We just got some of the new Kino Bavas and Rollins, etc (Hatchet for a Honeymoon WILL be going home with me for the challenge!). Check out the site and feel free to make prize recommendations. I'm about as open to suggestions as it gets.
