I started watching Supervixens. It's my first Russ Meyer film and so far I want to say that he's a sexploitation version of Michael Bay, replacing the shaky cam with more quick cuts.

If my grand son doesn't stay overnight I'm planning a 420 appropriate mini-thon starting early evening. Otherwise it'll be a film or two late night. Nice catch on "fry-day" - I missed that...

Forgot about 4/20. It's Clint Howard and my Evil Bong 3 set in 3D and smell-o-vision. Yes, it has a scratch and sniff card

As for his editing style, approach Beneath the Valley of the Ultra-Vixens with EXTREME caution. Russ couldn't hold a shot for no more than 2½ seconds in that one. As a result, I got the worst headache I've ever had from a movie.

If we're going to compare Russ Meyer to Michael Bay can we at least do it appropriately... Russ Meyer replaces explosions with giant tits.

Got around to finally seeing Friday the 13th: Part 2 (1981) (yes, I know that I'm a week late from the actual date).

Went to Pittsburgh Comicon today, and one of the dealers was a movie dealer. Picked up among some anime tiitles, the Uncut version of Five Deadly Venoms. Looking forward to watching it before the month is out.

Having never seen Count Yorga: Vampire before, all I can say is... wow! Tightly edited, wonderfully atmospheric, and with surprisingly believable characters, I found it to be a minor masterpiece. I was also unfamiliar with the sequel, but have that on tap for today.

Today is John Waters' birthday. Not sure how I missed that.

I wasn't even thinking about this when I picked TRUE ROMANCE to watch on Friday night, but, thanks to Floyd, Brad Pitt's pot-smoking character, it turned out to be a perfect movie for the occasion.

Count Yorga is good stuff!
I didn't get to watch anything yesterday due to being out the whole day. It was a nice break though and hopefully helps for a strong finish.

I have a question about how the Rotten Tomatoes rating works. I watched Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance today and then looked it up. The Tomatometer rating is only 17% but the audience rating is 33%, so does it qualify?

I know I'm in the minority for saying this, but I've really come to appreciate the soundtrack to Keoma. Yeah, on the initial impression it sounded like a cat being strangled and an old man gurgling as he's swallowing his tongue but, for whatever reason, it just started growing on me. Not that it's up there with Ennio Morricone's work, it just suited the film, IMO. And easily one of the better spaghetti westerns I've seen.

I would personally go by the Tomatometer. I don't know if there's an offical rule though.

In the past week I happened to watch three films for this challenge that all opened in New York in May 1969. One was Japanese and two were Italian and all had American stars and Italian leading ladies:
THE GREEN SLIME: Robert Horton, Richard Jaeckel, Luciana Paluzzi
ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST: Henry Fonda, Charles Bronson, Jason Robards, Claudia Cardinale
A FINE PAIR: Rock Hudson, Claudia Cardinale
The two Italian ones, in addition to sharing the same leading lady, also had the same composer, Ennio Morricone. Only one of the films used Ms. Cardinale's real voice in the English dubbing--A FINE PAIR.
I only saw one of them at the time they came out: ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST. It's still a great film, but I have to confess I was most impressed with GREEN SLIME this time.
P.S. I did see the trailers for GREEN SLIME and A FINE PAIR back in 1969, but had to wait till they came on TV in the '70s before I actually saw the films.
