THE "RULES" | ||
Since its inception in 2005 the goal of this challenge has been to reach 100 horror films in a month's time. Obviously that's not an attainable goal for everyone, so your personal goal is of your choosing. Whether it's achieved, surpassed or beyond your reach, the ultimate goal here is to enjoy yourself while conversing with fellow genre fans.
As always, there will be a separate list thread posted roughly 2 weeks prior to the October 1st start date. Be creative and personalize your list however you wish - give reviews, post pics, link to your blog or start one on your page, provide IMDB links with your titles, add YouTube videos, include running times, etc. The forum software now allows for unlimited post length, although you're still welcome to post it in a weekly or biweekly format due to the beyond annoying 25(?!) image limit. It's also highly recommended that you provide a link to the list in your signature for easier access. The only mandatory rule here is NUMBER YOUR LISTS!
If you're uncertain of the title's genre classification the IMDB and AllRovi (formerly allmovie.com) are the go-to sources for determining its potential horror movie status. Need more confirmation? A third and fourth option exists and that is FlickChart (requires free sign up) and TMDB. Of course, any site is prone to the occasional error and if you feel that's the case asking in the discussion thread is advised. Just keep in mind that the #1 deciding factor regarding what counts is you and you alone.
Every facet of horror counts: Horror-comedies, Sci-Fi horror, wretchedly bad horror [Insert Current Remake Here], kiddie horror, creature features, erotic / XXX horror, Masters of Horror, silents, made-for-TV movies, etc.
The formats and how you watch them is strictly your call -- Blu-ray, DVD, Netflix Watch Instantly, HD DVD, at the theater, on television, public domain downloads (links provided below), VHS, Laserdisc, Video On Demand, Netflix disc-by-mail, UMD, MiniDV, CED, Amazon Instant Video, through your neighbor's window, Apple TV, a Boxee Box, Hulu, Youtube, Payperview, Betamax, via laptop, netbook, VCD, a smartphone, a tablet ...you name it. And yes, that even includes the pan & scan, edited-for-television movies that air on TBS with multiple pop-ups and commercial interruptions (NOT recommended!). Just make sure the film is viewed in it's entirety.
Someday something important will reside here.
You're welcome to include non-genre titles viewed during the month in your list, but please keep them separate from your qualifying entries and don't number them.
Sometime in November there will be a results thread posted. If you wish to be included in the stats provided (aside from your number ranking), please include the following in your list: - First time viewings. The ☼ thing is a commonly used symbol. - Formats viewed. (BD, DVD, NWI, etc.) - Your personal goal ...even if it happens to be the challenge's goal of 100.
Keep it civil. The intention here is to have fun, so please don't take this event started by a guy with just a little too much time on his hands that seriously. |

Four parts already, wow! I'm working on the I Know What You Did Last Summer trilogy today, man I didn't realize how bad these movies were until this year.

Yeah, first time we've made it to a fourth thread. Although, in the past I did occasionally let a thread or two slip past 1,000 posts. But it's definitely looking like we'll break the record for the most ever posts.

We'll have one final trivia question on Wednesday.

And since we're at the final(!) week a couple of early reminders:
- Don't forget to PM me your votes for your top 3 favorite lists. There's a lot of good ones this year so please don't forget to vote.
- When you've completed your list please mark it as complete. I'll give the usual one week to finish it once the challenge ends.
- If you haven't already, number your list(s).
The last two make my job so much easier.

But since I post so often, I kind of figured that some people hate seeing my long signature so often, and figured I'd turn every other one or so off.

I was thinking I was probably going to watch the original Hills Have Eyes tonight, but I was trying to think of less obvious mutant titles and am starting to consider Mimic. Of course, *that* could change by the time I get off work as well.
And I thought you were really dedicated to this challenge.

Really disappointed in myself, it's my first Challenge and I'm only up to #48. I started out guns blazing but then life caught up with me. In retrospect I should not have attached the Godzilla movies to this month.

Has any of the peeps here heard of Nine Dead? Well if your into movies like Saw this has the same flow. 9 people wake up trap in a place not knowing how they got there. A maniac tells them they have 10 minutes to figure out why they are there. Every minute he will kill someone until he gets the right answer. Very kool movie to watch now. I saw it last month. Can't put it to me list.

I watched A Haunting in Connecticut last night off of ScyFy. Average, ok movie i guess. But they say that the documentary is more spooky and creepy that the film. Is that true? If it is, I may have to get this DVD just to find out.
Also, where is the bluray of Twins of Evil? Last i heard it was to be released in November / December but there still is no word or even a trace of it being released soon. Been checking Amazon to see if it shows up there but no luck yet.

For more fun, although I can't claim to have seen it, here's The Dead Project
Fan-edit movie combing Dawn Of The Dead (1978), Day Of The Dead (1985), and Night Of The Living Dead (1990) into one movie. Using clips from other films to enhance scenes and story, such as:

Just finished Dan Curtis' Dracula. It was as good as I remembered. I have to pick up The Dan Curtis Macabre Collection for next year.
