I've seen it a couple of times and I just don't care all that much for it. I like Bruce Campbell, but the movie really does nothing for me.

Four episodes from Dr Terrible's House of Horror - 'And Now the Fearing', 'Frenzy of Tongs', 'Curse of the Blood of the Lizard of Doom', 'Scream Satan Scream!'. I had forgotten what great parodies they were.

For anyone getting ready for next month's Criterion sale, I strongly recommend acquiring Kuroneko. From Kaneto Shindo, the director of another J-horror masterpiece, Onibaba, Kuroneko is a genuinely creepy horror movie, based on folk tales and set during the Heian era, that actually scared me. It is sooo on my list.

And we have a winner!
Congratulations to Undeadcow for getting all 32 films! You are the proud winner of Maniac cop on Blu-ray (courtesy of Synapse) and a yet-to-be-determined bonus prize.
Here's all the correct answers including the one I excluded (number 14):
1. Lifeforce (1985) The nude vampire woman riding the spaceship
2. Q (1982) The winged serpent carrying the woman
3. Circus of Horrors (1960) The trapeze lady hanging upside down and about to fall
4. Humongous (1982) The hanging mobile made of bones
5. Attack of the Crab Monsters (1957) Woman in bikini hanging from rope ...slightly altered
6. The Pit and the Pendulum (1961) The extremely sharp pendulum swinging
7. Diary of a Madman (1963) Vincent Price with light shining in his eyes
8. The Man with Nine Lives (1940) The green Boris Karloff
9. The Pit (1981) The boy with the funny haircut and bug eyes
10. The Mummy's Curse (1944) The green Lon Chaney Jr. mummy
11. Shock Waves (1977) The zombie Peter Cushing
12. The Screaming Skull (1958) The skull with the blood dripping from its mouth
13. Warlock Moon (1973) The bat man in the center
14. Bring Me the Vampire (Échenme al vampiro) (1963) The two small bats
15. Circus of Horrors (#2) (1960) The woman falling with the noose around her neck
16. The Castle of Fu Manchu (1969) The guy jumping off the tower with a sword in his right hand
17. The Toy Box (1971) The woman on top of the tower in chains about to get sliced in two
18. The Haunted Palace (1963) The tower ...slightly altered
19. Martin (1977) The horizontal hands reaching out from the left side ...slightly altered
20. Equinox (1970) The big blue giant
21. House on Haunted Hill (1959) The skeleton
22. Blood Bath (1966) The woman in the net being held by the skeleton
23. A Lizard in a Woman's Skin (1971) The bat with its claws out
24. Voodoo Woman (1957) The woman falling under the bat with the claws
25. Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers (1988) The woman with the chainsaw
26. Beast of Blood (1971) The zombie(?) carrying its own decapitated head
27. Wolf (1980s, from Thailand) The woman holding her gun holster on the tower stairs
28. Bloodthirsty Butchers (1970) The blood dripping from the tower ...repeat from last year
29. House of Horrors (1946) The woman cowering in the left corner from the blue giant
30. The Nesting (1981) The weapon being held by the skeleton
31. Mortuary (1983) The hand rising from the ground
32. Elvira: Mistress of the Dark (1988) Elvira tied to the pole on the tower
33. Ilsa the Wicked Warden (1977) The woman standing in front of the tower with the whip
34. The Grapes of Death (1978) The woman handcuffed to the right side of the tower NSFW
And especially nice job on getting Wolf and the dripping blood from Bloodthirsty Butchers, which was on last year's banner. Maybe I should've kept Bring Me the Vampire on the list after all.

I just watched the Mimic Blu-ray the other night, and the reviews are dead-on about the strong audio mix - there was several moments where I genuinely jumped from the sound cues, which I generally never do.

Nice , short write up. My favorite Hess film would be House on the Edge of the Park. A lot of friends think the movie is crap, but I enjoy it, and that's all that counts. Only thing that bothers me about Hess is that he is one hell of an ego maniac, and it truly shows on his website; if it's actually still up. I'm going to have to get Hitch-Hike , and check it out

One of the joys of this challenge is being exposed to movies that I might not have watched otherwise. Big ups to the DVDTalk community, and to tarfrimmer for suggesting Premonition. Holy crap, what a great, scary movie!
Congrats to undeadcow!

Think my final entries for today will be some Masters of Horror Episodes. I bought both of the Argento ones on DVD, but never watched them.

Wild Zero lived up to it's cult status; crazy movie there with some zany twists. I think Wild Zero counts as a musical for the checklist but am not sure.
Premonition was excellent. I got it at a Hollywood Video store closing and it's been sitting in my unwatched pile because the story always sounded bland. It turned out much better than the synopsis makes it sound.
Speaking of Argento, I'm going in for Three Mothers Trilogy now.

For some reason, I thought today's movie was Mighty Peking Man, and I watched that one, not Premonition. I guess Mighty Peking Man still satisfies the Asian theme requirement, though that's probably not the best representation of Asian horror.

Just finished watching Pelts. Not many things in Horror make me cringe, but there were a lot of cringe-worthy moments in that film. Surprisingly graphic for what I was expecting.
I know a lot of people hated it but I thought Mother of Tears was fun.

I still haven't ever seen Mother of Tears so am looking forward to first time viewing of it. Same with Survival of the Dead. Not sure why I stayed away from hotly contested sequels for so long but this year I am all in.

Well, after posting my blog entry that I was done watching I realized i didn't hit the day's theme... so I struggled to stay awake during Snake Woman's Curse before crashing. Now it is 4:40am and I've been up for an hour hunting for jobs already after no more than 3 hours of sleep. Ugh.

Just watched Amer! It wasn't really what I was expecting. Anyone going into this expecting a giallo is going to be awfully disappointed (though the posters strongly suggest that). Yeah, it's an homage to Bava and Argento ... but there's nothing resembling a horror-thriller until the very end (though it has a creepy unsettling mood throughout). So while the visuals and music are giallo-like, the movie itself is an experimental art film. More along the lines of Bergman movies like Persona - where the point of the movie isn't to tell a story, but rather to take a surrealistic dive into a character's psyche. I found it intriguing and it certainly has me thinking about hours after watching. Though it's a movie you have to be in the right frame of mind for - I can also see people falling asleep while trying to watch

I love Bubba Ho-Tep too (probably beyond all objectivity) and it's one I can watch over and over. The historical stuff about JFK and Elvis, the dark tone, and Ossie Davis's performance are all terrific. Also, I think Campbell is the best Presley ever.

Just enjoyed Tombs of the Blind Dead for today's theme. It's such a good movie, and I just love the look and music of it all. It's fantastic.
I may try to watch a new movie to go with the theme later today, but I do seem to be falling into watching old favorites this month.
