Spinning multimedia tower for DVD storage - Options?
 

I'm looking into buying a spinning multimedia tower for storing my DVDs and Blu-rays to save some space in my bedroom. Here is an Amazon listing for what I'm looking at. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with these and could recommend a model for me. I would like it to store a decent amount of DVDs and blu-rays and be able to hold box sets/special packaging without too much trouble. Thanks in advance.

That is pretty nice, although the $300 pricetag is a little steep. But at 756 DVDs, it could hold almost my entire collection. I'll keep it in mind. How is it with box sets and blu-rays?

I think I like those spinners. Getting ready to move, this may be a good time to revamp my set-up.

That spinner is NICE. For the person who doesn't already have a shelving arrangement in place and has the $$$ to spare, one or more of them would be a decent alternative, as long as they're sturdy (it had better be for $300). -kd5-

I have no problem with it holding box sets or blu-rays. Since blu-ray cases are slimmer than DVDs, it will hold even more. For Box sets that would take up almost an entire shelf by itself (complete TV series), I just put those on top of the unit.
Mine are very sturdy. Although, I have to say that you might have to put more effort into spinning one that is not evenly loaded with stuff on both sides.

To give you an idea, here is my collection, currently at 2619 titles.

The collection is contained into a little less than 4 of these units. I have a 5th one on the way.

Oh, I really like those. I have a couple of smaller spinning shelves for CDs but not as nice, or as expensive, as those. I might bite on these for DVDs. I keep mine in slimline CD cases so that would double the number of discs.

RevengeFan, I know it's 2 feet square, but how much space does it really need to spin freely and not bump into something?

Over $100 for these units? I'm satisfied with the standard shelf I built, that holds well over 600 standard DVDs, for about $40 or so. They may not look the best, but in the end who sees it besides yourself or your family? If you care so much about what your friends/relatives think, then don't show them, and that would avoid the whole "can I borrow this" question.

When you spin it, it's around 3 feet from corner to corner. I'll give you some precise measurements later, but I think I keep these about 6 inches apart from the wall and each other. Keep in mind, if I keep them 6 inches apart, I can only spin one at a time. It's not a problem, but worth mentioning.

I understand the spinning one at a time. That's how I have my smaller ones set up. They're a little over a foot square. I had gotten them from Ikea many years ago. They've long stopped making them.

After measuring one of them, they measure 33 3/4 inches from corner to corner. I have mine 6 inches away from the walls and each other.
