Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 7th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/3
Possibly the first film of this genre was The Bat (1926), which is available from Alpha. It's a bit difficult to separate the spooky from the murder mystery in this genre, because most films have elements of both, so that it becomes a question of which aspect a particular viewer feels is dominant.
The Monster Walks is the only one from your list that I've seen, and I think it's what you are looking for. Haunted Spooks (1920), a Harold Lloyd short, also qualifies.
The Curse of the Cat People (1944) is very good. It's similar to The Uninvited, not a sequel to Cat People, although the lead actors are the same.

Probably not the most well-known, but I've always enjoyed One Frightened Night (1935) starring Uncle Henry from The Wizard of Oz.
And here's a 'best of' list someone compiled at the Internet Archive w/ streaming links:

If anyone else is looking for "Old Dark House" films I'd suggest The Monster from '25 with Lon Chaney.

Lots of Hong Kong horror is good for this challenge. My favorite would have to be Sammo Hung's ENCOUNTERS OF THE SPOOKY KIND (1980). Then there are the Mr. Vampire films and the Chinese Ghost Story trilogy. I have to dig those out.

You should really make it a quartet, with The Orphanage in there. I love The Devil's Backbone, but I love The Orphanage even more.

I *think* The Innocents is being shown on some channel during October, probably TCM. Anyway, I'm pretty sure I remember setting a recording for it. After work tonight, I'll try to remember to check my upcoming recordings and let you guys know if anyone is interested in recording it.

No, that's not the time I was thinking about. I just checked IMDB because it was bugging me and noticed it's going to be on tomorrow afternoon at 1:45. I think that's the recording I have scheduled. I've been looking through the guide for horror movies the last few weeks, so I forget it was actually still in September that it was being shown.

The SyFy channel is doing 31 days of Horror. I guess it's the stuff they normally show, like Halloween and Saw.

Forgot to post this last night, but here's a free 1 month of Hulu Plus for new subscribers:

Don't know if it's specific to Roku users or not. And the offer expires in 3 days.
Thank you, sir. I'll add that to the subset list and thread.

Since it's been removed from Netflix Instant, thought I'd mention for anyone doing the subset that you can stream Asylum (1972) at AMC.com.

They also have Parents, which is pretty good. It's set in the 50s like a Leave It To Beaver type family only the parents are cannibals. You don't even have to be a Plus member to watch it. http://www.hulu.com/parents?c=Horror-and-Suspense

Okay, here's one of possibly many last-minute announcements. And apologies in advance if these get annoying, but I just post as they pop in my head.
- Weekend Trivia question this Saturday.
Don't know how many there's gonna be this year. It all depends on how well it goes over the first go-around. And the questions can range from anywhere to easy as pie to not a chance in hell you're gonna correctly answer them all.
- Being today's National Coffee Day it's the perfect opportunity to remind you to stock up on your java stash for the month.
- I'll reveal the mystery sponsor later today. The banner is on my home computer and I wanna do it right.

^ Nice. I didn't even realize it was National Coffee Day today and just happened to place my regular coffee order this morning because I saw I was running low. Excited to hear about the identity of our mystery sponsor.

Any idea what time the question will be posted?
Syfy actually has a few movies I want to check out.

As much as I love the Vengeance Trilogy, I wouldn't classify them as horror. There are some nasty moments that are horrific, to be sure, but I don't see the overall tone of the films as one of horror. They're more tragic than anything else. But that's just my opinion which, as far as I know, is not a currency recognized by Forex.
Having said that, horror is in the eye of the beholder, and you've got three Wild Cards, so...use 'em if you want. Don't cost nothin'.
Thirst, on the other hand, is a different story entirely.

Planning on spinning the "Exorcist" series, but wondered:
Which one of the prequels do I watch? Watched both of them months apart from each other back when they came out on DVD and don't remember details enough to figure out if watching one (or both again) would "ruin" the continuity or storyline....
Am I reaching here or should I watch both?
