Mill Creek doesn't do captioning or subtitles, so if you need to watch them with the sound turned way down (toddlers taking naps, for instance), you may want to keep your current sets.

Not good, I have trouble making out dialog sometimes and depend on subtitles a lot, even when the little one isn't sleeping.

Hmmmm... interesting. I picked up the That's 70s Show box (which is designed VERY well) and discovered the show on DVD. Really enjoyed it.

I had no clue that the episodes were edited. I'll look at what Mill Creek puts out with interest. (Although, past experiences with the company have yielded several pros and many cons which lead me to question whether they will beat Fox's release.)

I just bought all of the grounded for life seasons used, but I got them for a good enough price and will not be upgrading.
They'll be same I believe.

I don't think That 70s Show or Grounded for life were edited. If you notice, on their covers it mentions nothing about being uncut, whereas on Roseanne and Third Rock From The Sun it does.

Part of the reason I always held off on Grounded For Life was the inconsistent packaging. As for Roseanne, the edits always had me putting off getting the first season, then I just never got around to picking up any of them. Really looking forward to finally picking these shows up.

I just bought season 1 of Roseanne. Each DVD is enclosed in a paper slipcase - pretty much guaranteed to cause scratches and fingerprints.

I plan to store these DVDs in regular storage cases.

Thanks for that link! I may order a few items from them for some larger sets. I'm really looking for 5-7 disk cases that are standard single disk width. Anyone have/know of a supplier of that type?

I only plan on double-dipping season 1, 8, and 9 of Roseanne - since those were the seasons "edited" for the original DVD release.

If everyone waited for the entire series to be released, and they all avoided buying the season 1 stand-alone release, then none of the later seasons would ever get released.

I bought season 1 of "One Day At A Time." None of the other seasons ever got released. But I'm still glad that I have the first season. I disagree with the "all or nothing" mentality. Having one season of a show that I love is better than having no seasons of it.
