Still without my system after 10 days and didn't even finish the second season of Chuck. At least I can start the next challenge watching standard DVDs.

Awesome! Thanks a lot to DimensionX (PM Sent) for hosting the Challenge and HamiltonBooks for the prizes. The Challenge was a lot of fun and it's nice to check something off my Wish List as a result.

Re: May 2011 Make-Your-Own Challenge Discussion Thread

Congratulations to the winners and a big Thank You to Dimension X for hosting this challenge. I wasn't able to make either of my modest goals but on the other hand I watched stuff that I wouldn't have and really enjoyed everything I watched so I can still call this a successful challenge.

Also thanks to all the participants. I had a lot of fun looking over the lists. It was great to see such a wide range of interests.

Thanks so much for hosting the challenge! I didn't even update my last viewing as I've been out of town, and fell well short of even one season!

Re: May 2011 Make-Your-Own Challenge Discussion Thread

I didn't get to watch as many movies as I would have liked, but still had a great time. I certainly re-discoverd some old favorites. I actually think I might just keep the "80's flashback" theme next March. I certainly appreciate the time & effort of those who put these challenges together.

Thanks for hosting the challenge Dimension X! And thanks to Hamilton Books for the prizes!

I enjoyed my movie serials challenge so much that I have a dozen or so in various wish lists to eventually add to the collection!

Still here.

The mods generally only sticky one Challenge list thread at a time, so this one is no longer stickied.

to DimensionX for running this.

Also, thanks to the folks who gave me suggestions for my challenge. I didn't get around to watching much, though.

Thanks for running the challenge - I had to bow out due to moving which was absolute hell - still in boxes and not happy about it. Loved the challenge I did and will try again next year.

Re: May 2011 Make-Your-Own Challenge Discussion Thread

All in all, I was happy with the way my Vincent Price Challenge worked out. I had intended to view more films that I hadn't seen, but instead found myself re-visiting some major Price films that I hadn't seen in years. Didn't get to view everything I planned, but I'll be able to continue watching Price films in the History, Halloween, Holiday, and maybe SciFi if I decide to participate. Adding the radio and video recordings really added to the Challenge for me, and I would encourage mods of other challenges to consider making them allowable for their challenges as well.

I found out that May 26, 2013 will be the 100th anniversary of the birth of Peter Cushing, so I've already got my theme for the May 2013 challenge.

Composer Bernard Herrmann's centennial is coming up on June 29. I'm thinking of watching whatever films of his fit in the Historical and Sci-fi challenges.

Historical:
CITIZEN KANE
THE DEVIL AND DANIEL WEBSTER
JANE EYRE
ANNA AND THE KING OF SIAM
THE SNOWS OF KILIMANJARO
GARDEN OF EVIL
KING OF THE KHYBER RIFLES
PRINCE OF PLAYERS
THE KENTUCKIAN
THE NAKED AND THE DEAD
TENDER IS THE NIGHT
THE BATTLE OF NERETVA

Sci-fi/Fantasy:
THE GHOST AND MRS. MUIR
THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL
THE SEVENTH VOYAGE OF SINBAD
JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH
THE THREE WORLDS OF GULLIVER
MYSTERIOUS ISLAND
JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS
"Twilight Zone" episodes
FAHRENHEIT 451

And I'm sure I'm forgetting a few.
