Police Academy 5?

6 has a zero on Rotten Tomatoes and 7 is on the IMDB bottom 100...

I'm a light touch. This being the first one without Steve Guttenberg kind of gives it some uber-bad film cache.

"Det våras för Frankenstein". Google is too smart. I translated this and it said Young Frankenstein. When I took Frankenstein away, it said "Dawn of...". When I took away för, it translated Det våras as "springtime".

It's twuuu. It's twuuu. Springtime for Hitler...Springtime for the Sheriff...

I watched 27 films on VHS so far for this challenge, most of them retrieved from boxes in a closet, and all but one played fine. And these were cheap, often p.d., tapes to begin with, purchased over 20 years ago.

BLAZING SADDLES was originally released in Germany under the title "WHAT'S UP SHERIFF?" an attempt to make it seem like a sequel to WHAT"S UP DOC?

That is odd. I understand Springtime for the Sheriff, but that's just strange.

Can anyone with someone formatting knowledge help me out on something?

I am not sure why my grid list is starting so far from the top of my post. Anyone have any ideas?

I dunno, but the same thing happened to me when I tried to reverse engineer Chad's challenge so I gave up.

Working on a holiday horror theme currently, starting with "New Year's Evil" and ending with "Santa's Slay" but I'm having trouble finding anything holiday related for July, August & September. Any suggestions? (preferably on Nexflix instant)

July - Uncle Sam

August has a couple choices, for me anyway. National Watermelon Day in which you can play the race card and watch a blaxploitation film, like Dolemite. The 7th is Sea Serpent day. I'd go with a local* movie, The Crater Lake Monster.

September has National Grandparents Day, so I'd go with Rabid Grannies.

*Local as in it's supposed to take place at a lake local to me but was instead filmed in another state.

i read that because of the popularity of Django in Germany after its relaease basically every movie with Franco Nero in it gets Django added to its title.
I heartily recommend Django Kill (If You Live, Shoot). The underrated Tomas Milian stars as "Django", and, of course, the film has nothing to do with the original movie. But it's an absolute blast to watch--not only is the violence absurd and over-the-top, but it also features a gang of fascist, gay cowboys (not that there's anything wrong with that)! Blue Underground had a good DVD release of this a few years ago, so it should still be readily available. Well worth seeing.

Thanks for the suggestions.
Uncle Sam isn't on Netflix but I did find it on youtube (but I have to watch in 10-15 minute segments).
My birthday is in August so I might watch "Happy Birthday To Me" if I can't think of anything else.
I actually have the "Rabid Grannies" DVD unwatched and unopened, that'll be perfect for September.

Re: Second Annual Drive-In/Exploitation/B-Movie Challenge March 31-April 30 2011

Stats:

With two weeks left in the challenge I tabulated a few stats -
As of April 17 (based on what people have posted)
There are 44 people in the challenge.
A total of 1307 movies have been watched
for an average of 29.7 per person
or 72.6 movies by the group watched every day
or 1.65 movies watched per person per day.

To be on pace for 100 you should have 58 movies watched by April 17.
3 people are at or ahead of that pace.
5 others are at 48 or over and could make 100 with 4 movies per day.

I wanted to join in, but have some problems with my Blu-Ray player (it decided that it didn't want to play Blu-Rays, CDs and certain DVDs).
We got a new player, but found that our cables were inconpatiable and we are waiting for the replacements to arrive.

Welcome to the challenge. Still time for a Kung Fu or Blaxploitation movie (my personal favorite exploitation genre).

If I knew you were doing stats, I would've updated my list. I just went from 20 movies to 44.

^Same here. I've now successfully managed to neglect my list for the 3rd or 4th consecutive challenge. Writing reviews is apparently my Kryptonite. Honestly, I envy anyone who can maintain a long list while continually managing to write such thorough ones.

I've got major catching up to do, but fully intend to. And it's a definite possibility since today kicked off my vacation for the remainder of the month.

What the hell? I had a 44 movie spaghetti western box set sitting right next to me that has a handful of movies I rented elsewhere because I didn't know I already owned them.

This one, to be exact http://www.amazon.com/Spaghetti-West...3176713&sr=8-1

Re: Second Annual Drive-In/Exploitation/B-Movie Challenge March 31-April 30 2011

I just sat through Titanic II - shouldn't I get extra credit for that one?! All kinds of bad on this one but I haven't laughed that hard in a while, so I guess I can't complain too much. Still, when it got to the 'emotional impact moment' I thought I was gonna hyper-ventilate from laughing - such a SHAMELESS ripoff of The Abyss.

God bless The Asylum and all their awfulness!
