MIght get the Wire set as the re-sale value could be quite good.
Was waiting for the complete set and the box design is quite nice.
Seen all the Deadwoods so not after that set.

I'm on the fence about these. I own all the seasons already, and I don't think I'm ready to give HBO another $350 of my money for stuff I already own. Maybe i'll wait for a good sale.

The Future Shop website says they are all $54.99, but whenever I go to the store the seasons are priced at $29.99. It will be cheaper if you buy the seasons separately if you don't already own them. It's the same with Best Buy.

Why, you already have all five seasons. The only difference here is packaging and disc art.

Is this final? I figured like The Sopranos set, there will be the music CDs, and a book on the series included.

Someone also mentioned that Deadwood would have a bonus disc of features.

I could have sworn when this set was first mentioned (back with all the other WB collector's sets), that it was said that there were going to be some extras added.

Regardless, I haven't bought any of the season sets yet, so like I said before, this will be going on my Christmas list this year.

I'm interested in Deadwood but I only caught the first season. I know the series was cut short and the movies never panned out so can someone tell me if the series just abruptly ends or is there a sense of finality to it?

I don't want to spend a ton of money on a series that has no conclusion.

I never watched The Wire but I heard many good things about it. I may get it some time down the road.

I haven't heard anything about exclusive bonus material on The Wire set as opposed to The Sopranos set, where HBO emphasized that there would be deleted scenes and documentaries and whatnot months before there was a press release (Don't know about Deadwood, as I never really got into the show.)

On the other hand, if that link is correct and the set is 23 discs, that would allow room for bonus material (20 discs for the show, I guess 2 more discs for the soundtracks--both of which are great, btw--and another disc of supplements). I guess we'll find out shortly.

I also want to say how much I like the design of the box: simple, logical, to the point, with a definite eye-catching look and heft, but nothing too elaborate.

i will probably look into getting deadwood also, unfortunately, not at that price point. HBO prices always annoy me since they seem to hardly go on sale.

I keep hearing The Wire is an excellent show. I may have to get the CS set once it drops in price a bit.

I'll definitely get the Deadwood set. Been wanting to have that show on DVD for a while now.

Unless there's anything exclusive to the set for "The Wire" I'll just keep my individual releases. This packaging is really bland, and by the look of things, the five individual seasons will take up just as little space.

It does end...but it was really rushed...it was like he was trying to tie up all the loose ends in one episode which would have normally taken at least five. It left a bad taste in my mouth...but I guess not enough where I don't plan on picking this set up one day.

Since the retail is going to be 179 bucks, do think it might be 99.99 on release week?

$97.97 with 30% of Warner coupon preorder won't get a better deal then that unless you wait it out for like a year or two.

Listening to the audio commentary from the creator on the final episode is heartbreaking. You can tell he put his heart and soul into the project, and it was taken from him without his approval.

Regardless of how it ended, the show is brilliant from the pilot to the finale. For newcomers, don't let that be a factor in buying the seasons/box set. It simply must be watched to understand the greatness of it all.

"Deadwood Complete Series Set" -- Did HBO finally pony up for a fourth season?

No? Then fuck'em.

Might a suggest a new slogan -- "It's not HBO. It's Showtime."

I tried to get into "The Wire" but for some reason I couldn't. I did really like the first 5/6 episodes of "Deadwood" I watched on HBO back in the day so considering the set will probably be around $130 on release day, I might bite on that.
