I never really "blind buy". If I read a favorable review on this site, I may add a movie to my wishlist. I'll buy it once I find a good price. A lot of us starting buying DVDs when they first came out. Hell, I remember when there were only about 100 different DVDs total!

Well many of us have collected for 10+ years. Also, as has been mentioned, cheap DVDs at pawn shops, clearance and Big Lots has helped increase totals. it's hard to get rid of movies I only paid 50 cents for unless I absolutely know I won't like it.

I am in the process though of weeding through some stuff and selling it, especially blind buys that have gone OOP. Sometimes it pays to blind buy :D. But just selling used DVDs is pretty much a waste of time since most don't fetch more than a couple of dollars. Even new DVDs aren't worth that much --- and much of the Big Lots stuff you bought for 3.00, you would be lucky to get that much back after fees. Many of the used DVDs though I do take out of their case and put them in individual sleeves so I can easily file them alphabetically. I store the inserts in a file cabinet. But I still have plastic tubs of DVDs from Big Lots that I just don't have room for on the shelves.

My profiler says around 7000 discs (I am behind in updating them and my "ordered" has everything I've ever bought for history purposes). So realistically it's probably between 7000-8000 discs with around 4000-5000 titles/TV seasons

Between 500 and 600. I don't think that I bought more than 15 disks last year.

I quit counting at over 500 several years ago. I also used to keep a list of all of them but now I have no idea as I have not bought a regular DVD in over 3 years except as a gift since converting to blu (however my number of them is less than 20). When they were worth something it mattered not now.

One of the funnier things is when I someone came over, saw a row of movies on the floor, and remarked "wow! you have a lot of movies!" he was floored when I told him "uh, that is my unwatched pile.. The movies that I own and have watched are over THERE!"

p.s. because I keep 99% of my movies in 8 DVD organizer binders, they only take up a small 2'x2' cubby hole space.. My unwatched pile actually takes up more space!!

Currently 469/804 according to DVD Profiler (don't like to count each disc of each season but DVDP does it, so there you are...). -kd5-

As much as you post, I thought you'd have at least 3000 discs. You must be a lot more selective than me.

I am. I already have most of what I've wanted and they're mostly limited to specific genres (SciFi/Fantasy/Horror, with a smattering of Action/Comedy/Drama), what I buy from here on in will probably be few and far between. You never know though...:shrug: -kd5-

I still have more movies to enter into my collection but I just hit 12,000 last night. It was the Turkish version of Psycho.

Do you count by discs or titles? Also how do you count TV seasons, by episode?

Count by titles and seasons unless it's something like a "complete series" type set. In that case I just count it as one.
