I can't give you the exact dates, since we haven't officially released the info on them.
Until then, I invite you to enjoy some of the films from our Kitten Party line. http://www.amazon.com/Kitten-Party-H...3041321&sr=8-2 |

Your best hope for releases of these films is in MOD programs. Neighbors will undoubtedly come from Columbia soon enough.
Up the Creek, Humongous, Curtains, The Incredible Melting Man, and Hunter's Blood might make an appearance in the MGM MOD program. |
Re: When will these movies come to DVD/BLU RAY.???

I'd love to see The Incredible Melting Man and Neighbors get DVD releases. I remember seeing Neighbors several times at the theater. Oh, well. |

Melting Man already has an R2 release.

Hey, he asked when they'd come out on DVD or Blu-ray, not fake discs. ;)

Oh, well. Other than MOD, your options are pretty much limited to a handful of Criterion releases (for quality films) and releases from specialty houses like Shout Factory, Synapse, and Scorpion which specialize in cult films (often with lots of extras on the discs). The major studios have abandoned catalogue releases other than countless re-releases and repackagings (in 3 or 4 packs) of existing titles. Paramount's Legend Pictures licensing deal failed. The future of their Olive Pictures deal (at street prices close to $20 for a barebones title) remains to be seen. Sony's Martini Movies failed. On the other hand, Warner has over 600 titles out on the archive, including later seasons of TV shows whose early seasons came out on pressed DVDs. With DVD-R, as long as the studio feels there's a market for a few hundred sales nationwide, they can release them profitably. |

DVD-R discs like the Warner Archive program are not "fake" discs.
and don't take my comment so seriously. I put a winky after it to soften the blow. |

Re: When will these movies come to DVD/BLU RAY.???
At least we finally got The African Queen on Blu-Ray. If that had gone to MOD, I would have had to hurt someone.
The sad truth is that the vast majority of Americans don't watch TCM or Sundance and have zero interest in anything made before 1990, let alone silent films or pre-Code classics. The return on investment just isn't there for the studios to invest tens of thousands of dollars to restore and release vintage cinema. I was born in the 60s so I think mine is the last cohort ever to grow up watching B/W films on late night TV. Kids today have no interest in anything that isn't bright and colorful. We are lucky to have the films that the studios released when they opened the floodgates for a few years in the early 2000s. Do you think that movies like The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T or The Bad Seed would have seen the light of day in today's economic climate? With the MOD programs I have the chance to own copies of films that sadly missed the window of opportunity to be released on real discs, like Who's Killing the Great Chefs of Europe? and Don't Be Afraid of the Dark. Still waiting on : The Wind The Crowd (c'mon, the lack of Vidor is criminal) Electric Dreams Dr.Terror's House of Horrors (available in R2, but have you seen the exchange rate between the dollar and the pound?) The Reincarnation of Peter Proud Arnold Where Have All The People Gone? Killdozer The Addiction The Keep The Devil Rides Out The Honey Pot Platinum Blonde (where's the Jean Harlow box set you promised in the last HTF chat?-Oh right, that was 2007) Employees Entrance The Locked Door Million Dollar Legs International House Island of Lost Souls Seven Footprints to Satan Humanity and Paper Balloons The Life of Oharu (available in R2, but this is America, dammit!) The Boy Friend Lisztomania And of course, THE DEVILS!!! |

Re: When will these movies come to DVD/BLU RAY.???
I guess they will be released eventually through an "on demand" type arrangement like other obscure/semi-obscure films. Up The Creek is a pretty decent comedy, but I suspect would difficult one because of music that would have to be licensed for it.
