Re: October Horror Movie Challenge 6: The Results
Congratualtions to everyone who participated and all winners. Once again, I've gone out of my box to watch horror. I think I'm starting to like it now...
Thanks to Chad for setting this up every year. You do a phenomenal job. Please don't stop! Can't wait for next year's challenge!! |
Re: October Horror Movie Challenge 6: The Results
Awesome work again Chad... you out did yourself.

Re: October Horror Movie Challenge 6: The Results
Thanks for another successful horror challenge.

Re: October Horror Movie Challenge 6: The Results
Yay! This was fun! I can't wait for next year.

Re: October Horror Movie Challenge 6: The Results
Just an amazing job. Thank you Chad, and congratulations to all that one.
I have to say this was probably the most enjoyable year yet on here, even with my limited time available for it. The conversations were engaging without any type of drama, even with the "controversial" move of allowing tv shows in the count. I remember one year was so full of bickering that I gave up even coming to the site for the rest of the month and I can't tell you how happy I am that things have progressed so far so shortly. Congratulations all around on a truly wonderful horror season and I can't wait for next year. |
Re: October Horror Movie Challenge 6: The Results
All right, all the prizes from Hamilton's are packed and hitting the priority mail this afternoon.
So llandros (Slumber Party Massacre), asianxcore (Evil/Twice Dead), Gobear (Cabinet of Dr. Caligari), tarfrimmer (Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde) and Trevor (Franco's Count Dracula), keep your eyes open, you should definitely see those this week. Congrats to everyone who won a prize and to those who just participated...I am constantly amazed by the devotion you guys have! So long as Chad will have us, we'll see you next October for Horror Movie Challenge #7. Rich Hamilton |
Re: October Horror Movie Challenge 6: The Results
Wow, I wound up doing way better than I thought. Hats off to the winners and anyone who else met their goals. I'll probably never be able to hit 100, but I have fun and that's what matters to me. Can't wait til next year!

Re: October Horror Movie Challenge 6: The Results
A very well-organized challenge, and the results thread was a great read in itself. Thanks Chad!

Re: October Horror Movie Challenge 6: The Results
Congratulations to everybody who took part and a big "Way to GO!" to all the winners. Of course, a HUGE thanks to Chad who ran a very smooth challenge and provided an amazing results list. Chad, you obviously put in a ton of work from way before the challenge began to way after it ended and it really was a ton of fun! I had a great time and I'll be back next year.

Re: October Horror Movie Challenge 6: The Results
Wow. You really outdid yourself Chad. Amazing work! Well, at least the first 13 listings are great. I can't read past that due to your numbering errors. ;)

woohoo.... 4th place. How Trevor can watch that many movies is beyond me.... that's absolutely insane!
And I only did 13 hours a day. Pretty easy when you have no kids, only worked 10 days in October, can watch films at work, and change your voicemail to "call me in November".

Re: October Horror Movie Challenge 6: The Results
Forgot to thank Chad for getting some awesome prizes for this year's Challenge. My first time ever winning anything on this site :)
Also wanted to thank everyone who participated. The discussions of nothing but Horror for a month straight is always fun. |

So is their any chance of making our little horror club an undead zombie, and bringing it back to life?

Re: October Horror Movie Challenge 6: The Results
Woohoo 65th! :)
Thanks for all the hard work Chad! It's always fun and I can't wait for next year. And I know the list isn't completely totally finished since as you said it'd take until Christmas to post it. So I'll just add that I did watch 2 Laserdiscs in the month for the formats I viewed various films on. But don't worry about correcting that, you've done enough work as it is, more than enough, so take a break until next year. :) |
Re: October Horror Movie Challenge 6: The Results
Haha, and those were the only three I ended up watching the whole month. Was busy moving and whatnot. I'll give it a way better go next year.

Re: October Horror Movie Challenge 6: The Results
My copy of The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari arrived today! Thanks again Chad and Hamilton Book!

Re: October Horror Movie Challenge 6: The Results
Forgot to mention all the SWV and Full Moon titles (minus 2 awaiting PMs) were sent out today.

One question - you said that the most popular title was "too close to call"? Was there a tie or something?

Yes. I think. Maybe. Honestly, all I can remember is starting a few weeks ago, moving on to something else with the intention of doing it last, forget and eventually said to hell with it. :D Yeah, I was planning on next week. And come to think of it we could use some fresh title suggestions. |
Re: October Horror Movie Challenge 6: The Results
Thanks for your work on the challenge, Chad, and thanks to all the participants for keeping it civil this year.
I had a lot of fun with this challenge again this year, and I'm looking forward to next year, although I've finally realized that I don't need to save anything for the next challenge. I expect that I'll always have plenty of options, between new movies that I pick up, favorites to revisit, and movies that my kids want to watch that I've decided that they are ready for. |

Re: October Horror Movie Challenge 6: The Results
I'll add to the kudos for Chad and this year's challenge. There seemed to be so much more discussion about the actual movies, which is why we're here, right? I loved the recommendations on movies I would not have known about, and the ones I didn't get to will be on the list for next year. It became more of a community and less of a competition, and for the first time we actually recognized the idea that reaching 100 was something that we could all celebrate.
So Chad, whatever you put in the water this year, I hope you'll continue it! And my two cents: I don't care if we allow TV, or TV-movies, or whatever, as long as we can enjoy the month and the challenge. |
Re: October Horror Movie Challenge 6: The Results
My prize arrived today!
I'm looking at the package (a amazon box) thinking: "That's an odd address label for amazon... what in the world is *this* one - I don't remember anything missing that's shown to have shipped... looks like a marketplace vendor label but in an amazon box... very odd... didn't know amazon provides boxes for marketplace vendors unless they fulfill the order..." (I've ordered 15-20 DVDs from amazon and asst. marketplace vendors over the past couple of weeks). Still thinking the same thing as I unwrapped the inner paper from the DVD to find: "Oblivion" - at which point I know what it is! It was like opening an early Christmas gift! :) Thanks again to all the sponsors and especially Chad for running this! I'm already looking forward to next year! |
