Single layer at this time, although there was a blurb recently in an interview that suggested that the Warner Archive would be shifting to dual.

can you provide the link ?

I think it is absolutely pathetic they are using single layer discs for 1 major reason they are releasing tv shows and movies with run times over 2 hours per disc, which means crappy bit-rates and crappy video quality

warner should re-release all in dual layer and people who bought the single layer should get copies for free

You do realize that most catalog title dvds are single layer? Also, on newer movies or special editions, with other language tracks, commentaries, before menu previews, and special features, the movie is compressed to where it will fit on a single layer. About the only time dual layer is utilized for actually giving a better quality picture due to lower compression is 2-disc editions with a movie only disc and one extra language track or commentary.

Beyond all that, keep in mind that we're talking about burnt discs here. As finicky as a single layer burnt disc can be in some players, the dual layer burnt discs can be significantly worse in a much wider variety of machines.

I agree dual layer burnt media is a bad idea and should be avoided. I don't think they will go to dual layer because the extra care necessary in authoring and the higher cost of blanks.
