Car 54 where are you- season 1- releases Tues 4/12/11
 

Here is a thread I found regarding the plans of releasing all episodes starting early next year- I hope this is true and is the case as this is a classic TV show that needs the attention it deserves- great classic TV at it's best- Just curious how many fans would purchase this?- It's long over due- I purchased the series on Ioffer years ago from someone who taped them off TV Land but I would love a complete clean collection without all the TV Land bugs on them.

I'm in for this also. I haven't seen this since I was very young, but i'll welcome the release with a release day purchase. This will go well with my Sgt. Bilko ( Phil Silvers ) series.

They don't really need to use that color photo on the cover, as it shows their police car painted white with red, which they did at the request of the NYPD to avoid confusion with the real police cars, which were black and white. The red photographed black on B&W film; people were never intended to see the show's police car(s) in color.

Aside from that, I will definitely buy :)

look at how young Fred Gwyne was, man. Don't understand the color cover since the show was in black and white.
I always thought that AL Lewis was his partner in this.

t's just a publicity photo, I'm sure. It may have been taken in color, but when printed in magazines or newspapers at the time, was probably printed in B&W only. See my post (#9) above about the inappropriateness of seeing the red and white police car in a color photo. I have no problems with a vintage color photo on the cover, but they should nix the car (or tweak the color to change the red to the "correct" black).
Joe E. Ross was partner Gunther Toody; Al Lewis was a regular (Officer Schnauser), but not Muldoon's partner.

Just curious about something regarding this series...isn't the guy that plays opposite Fred Gwynne the same man who played Rupert Ritzick on Bilko? He looks familiar.

You are correct sir. Another TV series Joe E. Ross co-starred in was the mid-60s show It's About Time about 2 astronauts who crash-land back into the prehistoric past. Joe E Ross played the caveman Grunt . Another show I would look forward to obtaining
