This should be fun. I'm off to spend the weekend in a cabin in the middle of the woods. No high def or blu-ray there or I would have brought Evil Dead with me. Bringing the WDTV with me and several hard drives full of movies. No computer or internet either unless I can get some coverage with my droid.

I'm finally done with the move and can start watching again! I have a marathon day planned with some friends tomorrow and hopefully can put about 4 or 5 on the list. Time to make up for lost viewing time

Any way to use more than 25 images in a post?
This is making me sad that I am going to have to change my list so much.

Even if I do 1 picture of all titles for the day it would still be 31!

You could just do what I did last year and make multiple posts.

Definitely. The film is ridiculously fun. I might have to add it to mine this year as well.

I never thought I'd be saying this, but Cannibal Ferox bored me to death. It mirrored all the elements of Cannibal Holocaust, but without being interesting.

Solid gore set-pieces though.

I thought The Hands of Orlac wasn't that great. I get why it's popular for starting the whole getting limbs from a dead killer attached to someone and now the parts are turning the good guy into a killer but the obsession with the girl never really seemed to go very far the entire movie yet seemed to take up about half the story.

after a couple of Hammer films, now I'm ready for a mind numbing midnight double feature of Bloody Moon and The Forest!

I checked out the Masters of Horror Sick Girl episode and the ending is one of the most memorable so far this challenge. It starts off more as a romantic comedy but that ending is a kicker, great imagery. Misty Mundae's acting is surprisingly good but her talents are under utilized. Bonus points for avoiding CGI.

Seeing Sick Girl [Masters of Horror] reminded me how much I appreciate Angela Bettis' eccentric characters so I am looking forward to May later. I remember really enjoying May but it's been a while ...but on the McGee/Bettis subject I wasn't fond of the Toolbox Murders remake (2004).

Now to The Gorgon on the tail end of TCM's Hammer Horror marathon.

I think to myself, I'm tired from Orlac but The Black Pit of Dr. M should wait me up. That made Orlac seem interesting.

I agree on all counts. Just watched Ferox and found it pretty tedious.

It's not awful, but it lacks a lot of the personal stories/experiences I like to hear in documentaries like that. Seriously, half of the documentary is dedicated to each actor summarizing what each film is about and then going on to talk about Jason as a character/person. It just gets dull until some of the personal stories come out.

I watched it for the challenge
Yeah, mediocre doc but about a subject I enjoy. Did you watch the other features, they seriously left the best stories out of the main event!

I didn't watch the other features. I'm definitely going to go back to that once the Challenge is over.

I agree, I love the F13 series as well and $5 was a no-brainer, but it looks like slop compared to something like Never Sleep Again (which Daniel Farrands and Thommy Hutson also worked on)

Had to head to the parents house for the weekend to help with some work on their house. Means not as many movies as I wanted, actually I forgot to bring any, so I have to settle for what I can find on cable. Watching the Hammer marathon on AMC right now. So at least I'll get a couple movies in.

Keeping the theme for the 9th in mind. Do you guys think Thriller would count in the challenge? Initially I wouldn't think so but it is very similar to I Spit on Your Grave, and the wife seems to like rape/revenge flicks.

After seeing the ads on the site, I am firing up Nightmares in Red White and Blue to cap off this early morn.

imdb lists it as a horror movie. I don't see why you shouldn't count it.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 6th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (Oct 1-31) P

Tonight I viewed the Troma masterpiece Terror Firmer in it's R rated version on vhs. How does one take one of the most disgusting graphic films ever made and get an R rating? Well rather than just chopping the hell out of the film, which they do. Lloyd has some fun with the MPAA and does various bits explaining what's missing and comically re-enacting some of the material. Also their is censor bar galore, obviously different voice dubbing over some language, and even inserting a photo of a cat to obscure a vagina. It's actually pretty damn amusing and had me laughing out loud at some moments.

Other than The Toxic Avenger, this is one of Troma's best films and is actually a well done satire on low budget film making. Lloyd is hilarious as the blind director, the energy level of the film is high and the rest of the cast does a good job, and it's a lot of twisted fun.

I ended up getting Terror Firmer (DVD) as a clearance rental from Hastings and was shocked to find it was the edited R-rated version. I haven't checked it out yet but might do so. I heard the cut version was hilarious ...but would really prefer the unrated cut. Good review, now I'm curious... thanks.

Edit: 500th post!
