Wow, if I hadn't been forced to shut things down for the most part at the end of the month, I could have been the only member of the 75-99 club. :)

Thanks again for organizing the challenge. Still plenty of unwatched stuff for next year.

I'm impressed by Trevor with 150!! That's amazing!

Having gone over 100 with the SF challenge I can attest that to get a number like that takes dedication!

Well done, sir!

Great challenge. Unfortunately, real life interfered and I got too busy to hit my goal. There's always next year.

I ended up burning through my watch list must faster than I planned.

Re: August Animation Challenge 2010 - Results Thread

I was only 15 minutes away from my remaining TV temp list counting for an entry, and 25 minutes away from my remaining short films temp list counting. BobO'Link still would have come out ahead of me, though, so no big deal. If I had one sense of failure, it's that I only got to two movies from my Unwatched Pile; still, I re-visited several others that I hadn't seen since childhood that I probably ought to have included in my Unwatched list. Next year, I'm going to concentrate exclusively on things I haven't seen before. Still and all, it was a nice way to spend August. A very fun challenge! Congratulations to Trevor and the assorted prize winners, and thanks to Mister Peepers for hosting.

Re: August Animation Challenge 2010 - Results Thread

Here I thought I'd easily breeze through 10 Simpsons seasons when here I am just now in the process of finishing up season 3. Of course, every episode was viewed with and without commentary, so I guess that would be the equivalent of viewing roughly 6 seasons. And I was really hoping to at least put a dent in the unwatched pile ...specifically all the animation accumulated from Big Lots, but that wasn't in the cards. Looks like next year will involve plenty of Hanna-Barbera.

Another fun one.

Re: August Animation Challenge 2010 - Results Thread

One thing I learned in this challenge surprised me. My goal was to watch all the Disney Canon films, (that is, the official Disney Animated film series from Snow White to The Princess and the Frog,) which I managed to acquire over the years. In researching to see if I had them all, I discovered that they don't have a "canon" anymore. They no longer use the phrase "canon", and they've included Dinosaur on the list they do keep. They still keep films not done by Disney Animation Studios (like the TV movie and DTV stuff, like the Goofy movies, and the sequels) separate, but now they have de-emphasized the classic list they used to number.

I won something, really? This wasn't just an attempt to shut up my self-pity?

I certainly didn't watch as much as I planned, but I did take a couple things off the unwatched pile so that's a plus.

Ok guys, jmsmath and MinLShaw, your Thundercats sets went out today priority mail. I'd be real surprised if you don't see the this week, so keep your eyes open.

omike, your Dangermouse prize also went our priority mail today.

Congrats!

Wow! I won for "Top List." What does that mean? That I finished the checklist?

Defenders of the Earth! I've never even seen that show. I just looked it up and it's got Flash Gordon, the Phantom, Mandrake the Magician and Ming the Merciless. Awesome.

I'll PM you with my address.

Re: August Animation Challenge 2010 - Results Thread

Don't know how I missed this thread. Looks like Trevor had some stuff he hadn't totaled on his list when I last checked. Sorry I couldn't help you not "win" Trevor, lol. If I hadn't missed that one day when I moved stuff into my new apartment, I might have been able to, but it wasn't meant to be.

I really enjoyed the challenge and had a lot of fun with it. Cool that Ash Ketchum and I tied for Top List, thanks for the positive feedback everyone. Enjoyed looking at everyone's list and discussing and discovering animation. Congrats to all the winners and thanks to Mister Peepers for running the challenge.

I don't think I'll be able to watch as much next August as I'll (hopefully) have a real job, but am either going to try and watch Disney's entire film catalog (mostly canon stuff) or a Matt Groening Marathon, of The Simpsons and Futurama.

People sent me what they thought were the top 3 lists, however they wanted to determine it. It usually goes by formatting, what you watch, reviews, that sort of stuff.

Thanks GoldenWheels!

And thanks to everyone who donated prizes and participated. I think Mister Peepers did a great job with the results and running the show in general. This is only my third challenge but as far as sheer fun goes I can't image anything else topping this one.

Agreed in entirety!

Eddie Valiant might disagree with this.

I completely missed out on the request to submit any picks for this--I could have broken the tie! ;) I do appreciate the creative approach many take with their lists. I wish I had the skills (and time) to do more with mine, but I think they'll always have an ordinary look about them.

Yeah, I should have stopped watching that last day, but sadly couldn't think of anything better to do than watch Scooby Doo and South Park all day. But thanks for trying!

I enjoyed the variety in the formatting of the lists. Every Challenge I learn new and better ways to format my lists by watching all of you.

I'm definitely watching less next year. 100 per month is really the most I like to watch, but I like to break in each new Challenge by going crazy with my unwatched piles. Once I've gone "all out" on a Challenge once, I feel like I can relax the next year. This year has been bad for me with several first-time Challenges.

I also got my prize yesterday but I got home so late (work is hitting me hard this month) that I didn't even see it until this morning. Priority mail was a very classy thing to do in my book GoldenWheels. Thanks again.

I have fond memories of Dangermouse from when it was on TV and I hope to sneak a few episodes in before that thing in October gets going.

No sweat man...sorry it was packed so poorly...I couldn't find any bubble wrap and wanted to get it out that day!
