Can anyone clarify for new viewings, is it first time viewing EVER, or just first time viewing as part of the Oct challenge?

Pretty sure most will be counting first time ever having watched a film.

Just finished High Tension which I went into knowing nothing about it. After watching the film, I couldn't help but look up a couple of threads here which discussed the very peculiar ending. In fact, I hadn't even realized it was one of the "daily thread" films selected for last year.

Just about to sneak in my first one of the challenge before work. Not sure what it'll be but I think I might knock out 'The Evil Dead'... decisions, decisions...

I went to bed last night with the original Amityville Horror in my DVD player for when I woke up this morning. However a little insomnia in the night meant I started earlier than I expected. 3 cheers for insomnia.

This is one of the very few movies where a terrible ending completely ruined everything prior to it for me. I was on board until the end. It's just sloppy and lazy.

We also watched the sequel which was the second time I viewed it. I find it much more enjoyable than the original, but it really is a completely different type of horror movie. There is one stretch that feels like it's dragging a little but other than that, it's fairly awesome the whole way through. I love the beginning scene on the bridge. Just amazing.

Then my wife wasn't feeling so good so we quit for the night but I'm hoping to get up early enough to get a good chunk under our belt, one of the very few benefits of being recently unemployed I guess. Overall, we had a pretty great opening night.
It's sad but I almost wish I was unemployed just for this month. I had just moved prior to last years challenge and still didn't have a job and it was an absolute blast to just have massive marathons without any responsibilities getting in the way.

The ending dropped it down from "great" to "good" for me.

My first "YAY" moment, I put on From Beyond this morning and my fiancee says... " Isn't that the guy from Re-Animator?"

Think I'm done with my month long near-sabbatical from DVDs and DVDTalk, and started things off last night by merging the two active Challenges and watching Criterion's The Blob (1958). I'm a sucker for that period and genre, so always love seeing it. Enjoy the remake as well, will have to search for that one.

The ending changed it for me too. It would have been just a slightly above-average slasher-type film in a sea of hundreds of similar films, but now it is something that I'll actually remember. Not saying I loved the ending, but at least it makes the film stand out a bit more.

I took the day off and am enjoying a re, re, re-viewing of Death Proof (in honor of Sally). I really need to head up the road and eat at the Texas Chili Parlor. I know reviews aren't friendly to this, but I love it. Pure cheese and nacho fun.

I managed to avoidmiss catching the new Nightmare on Elm Street when it was in theaters, but I'm sure my curiosity will eventually force me to check it out. It's like a sickness. I curse the remakes, but then feel compelled to watch them at least once.

I have very fond childhood memories of watching 1958's The Blob on the late night Creature Feature show, with my parents' lava lamp turned on nearby with the MiniBlobs floating around inside. It's been quite awhile since I've seen the remake, but it's on schedule for tonight!

It definitely makes it stand out, and I have to admit that it has been quite a while since my last viewing of it so its not the freshest in my mind. Maybe my opinion has changed on the ending a little... or maybe not haha

I finished up Killer Pad a few minutes ago... ugh. Not very good, a few laughs to make it bearable but overall pretty bad.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 6th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/3

Started the challenge last night at the movies. We went to see Hatchet 2. Danielle Harris was there at midnight to present the movie. She introduced the movie and sat with the audience.

As the starring credits rolled, the crowd was into it. They cheered and claped when they saw Danielle Harris name come on the screen. Maybe cause she was sitting there? Also nice cheers for Tony Todd and Kane Hodder.

This was a horror crowd for sure. They were cheering every time and was yelling oh's and ah's to the killing's Victor Crowley did. This also got me and my brother excited as well. Also there was a reference to Leslie Vernon and the crowd popped loud again.
By this time Danielle had left.

Overall I enjoyed my midnight viewing. The movie was great and had lots of blood and gore scenes. I don't wanna spoil it for those who will watch it this month. If you enjoyed the first one, you will like the 2nd. All of the elements of the first. Good way to start the challenge off.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 6th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/3

I'm usually much more organized for this thing. I just realized that I hadn't reserved my spot in the lists thread, and I still haven't watched a darn thing (I usually get a quick one in after midnight). Like last year, there will be a wedding during the month, but unlike last year, there won't be 3 of them (but I do have a houseguest through the weekend for the wedding). The other big change from last year? I'm out of a job. That just happened this week, which explains why my thoughts have been on other things, but I figure I'll likely be able to reach a higher number this year because of my jobless status. That's something I guess ...
