I'm thinking either Christine, or perhaps Amityville Horror, either the original or remake as I own them both.

Well, the last couple of years I started a tradition of kicking it off with really cheesy '80s flicks like Night of the Comet and Chopping Mall. I'll probably do the same this year, that is, if I can find something I haven't actually seen.

I'm thinking either "Fear No Evil" or maybe a midnight showing of "Let Me In".

Nothing puts me in a Halloween mood more than gothic horror so I'll be watching something from TCMs first Hammer Horror marathon. Dracula theme for October 1st.

Make sure it's widely available through Netflix, online retailers, etc. and not on the verge of going OOP. And at least have the intention of participating in some discussion ...especially for your own pick. Obviously I'm not one to talk being that I haven't exactly done so in the past myself. We'll probably have one pick per person, that is, if we can get enough people.

And as far as the selection itself, try to pick something that's really worthy of some discussion and just an all around good film. This has always been a great resource for finding hidden gems, so you might consider picking an underrated film you feel deserves more recognition. It can be mainstream or obscure just, again, make sure it's easily obtainable. And if we get more than 31 picks (from just as many people) we'll have to decide as a group which selections will make the cut.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 6th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/3

These were my suggestions:

The Seventh Victim (1943), The Black Cat (1934), The Tingler (1959), Tourist Trap (1979)
And the others were just random streaming horror titles from Netflix that I posted, they're not films I'm suggesting:

Hatchet for the Honeymoon (1988), The Call of Cthulhu (2005), Body Snatcher (1993)
One final suggestion: It's Alive!

I'd like to throw in: Horror Hotel (1960)

And to commemorate the new dvd set: The Slumber Party Massacre (1982)

After a brief perusal of the remake's IMDB page, I think I'm going to continue to forget it.

Last year I segued from watching an unwatched Criterion LD to watching some unwatched horror LDs, so I guess I'll be somewhat consistent and take advantage of the new Criterion Exception this year. Not sure yet what movie I'll be watching though.

I may go for The Howling first or The Last Man on Earth- Vincent Price.

Fright Night from 1985 would be a good addition to the 2010 31 Films subset.

I know my list of suggestions is long but I'd be content if Monster Squad made it. I'd love to have a chat about that great flick.

Birddemic, too, would be a laugh.

Okay, here's my last few in before the list suggestions:

The Incredible 2-Headed Transplant (1971)
Maniac (1934)
Night of the Lepus (1972)
The Bird with the Crystal Plumage (1970)
Blood and Black Lace (1964)

I might start with the original House On Haunted Hill, since I've never seen it before. However it all depends how I'm feeling, since I've planned to watch various movies in the past challenges and never got around to them. So I'm going to try to mainly watch what I haven't watched in the challenge yet. Then if I'm in the mood and have time, I might get some favorites I have watched previously, since it's been a few years since I viewed them. Overall, I just want to have fun with the viewing and that's the most important thing.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 6th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/3

Looking forward to partcipating in this one. Horror isn't my favorite genre, but oddly enough, I have more horror films in my collection than anything else.
Why in the heck does TCM have Night of the Lepus and The Boogens playing on "Hammer Horror Festival Part 4"? Did they run out of Hammer films?

They aren't. They're showing 4 Hammer films each of those Friday nights. The other films listed after the Hammer films (in this case: Night of the Lepus and The Boogens) are just horror films scheduled for later those same nights. There are only three Hammer films showing on the schedule for 10/22 because Chad left the 11:15 pm movie (These Are the Damned) off the list (presumably because it's listed as Sci-Fi, not horror, on IMDb and allmovie).
