If you could choose a movie for Criterion to release what would it be?

Ok, I don't think an thread like this exist but I am sorry if it does.

If you could pick 1 movie for Criterion to release what would it be? I will actually allow 2 picks. 1 has to be a movie that is new to DVD and one can be a re-release.

My never on DVD movie would be The Learning Tree. It is an important movie in the black filmmakers genre because it is the first time a black director helmed a major american movie.

My re-release would be The Birth of A Nation

Re: If you could choose a movie for Criterion to release what would it be?

Not on DVD:
This House Possessed (1981)
The American Success Company (1980) A box set with all the different edits of this.
Get Crazy (1983)
Electric Dreams (1984)
The House Of God (1984)
Housekeeping (1987) I don't understand why this isn't on DVD.
Dead Solid Perfect (1988)

Rereleases:
High Risk (1981) The DVDs of this are awful.
Angel Of H.E.A.T. (1983) The DVD of this is awful.
The Journey Of Natty Gann (1985) Disney only released the middle third of this (foolscreen)

I would like to see the film noir film from 1945 "DETOUR". I haven't seen this film because there r crappy versions out there. Also, that CHAPLIN box set would be awsome!!

Re: If you could choose a movie for Criterion to release what would it be?

Akira Kurosawa's Dersu Uzala is in an urgent need of the Criterion treatment. Based on what I have heard, the original prints in Moscow are quickly deteriorating, and it is starting to be a race against time before it's too late to do anything with those. A few Dersu Uzala DVDs of course already exist, but they are nowhere near the quality that the film would deserve.

As for never-before-on-DVD releases, how about The Million Ryo Pot and Soshun Kochiyama, the two surviving Sadao Yamanaka films unavailable on DVD (at least to the best of my knowledge)?

Blue Velvet
Shallow Grave
Ed Wood
Two Women (Unlike the others I've listed, this one really needs a decent release in general)
Fight Club
My Winnipeg (This just needs to be released period, Criterion or otherwise)
Happiness

Re: If you could choose a movie for Criterion to release what would it be?

Matinee
Any and all Universal horror films
And and all Hammer horror films
Annie Hall
Bananas
Metropolis (and include Giorgio Moroder's version as a bonus)
Song of the South
Battle Royale
Mad Monster Party (Crazy choice I know, but I'd buy it.)
Even crazier, how about they get into the TV arena and do a Batman box?
Totally agree on King of Hearts and Mulholland Drive

Le Magnifique - I saw clips of this on a documentary and it looked/sounded interesting, but the existing dvd is OOP. Also it's another French movie staring Jean-Paul Belmondo, which Criterion seems to love releasing.
