Any good versions of Olympia?

I know the pathfinder version is crap, but have any good ones come out?

I can't find reviews of these two:

http://www.amazon.com/Olympia-Leni-R...7788010&sr=8-3

http://www.amazon.com/Olympia-COLLEC...7788010&sr=8-7

Although they seem to be DVD-Rs!

Also, there seems to be a UK version coming out: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0038MXRYI/

Is this an official Korean version?

Wonder how that transfer is.

i doubt it, as that seller seems to be selling a lot of "asian" titles. a couple of criterions with asian writing even.

i have this copy:
http://www.amazon.com/OLYMPIA-LENI-R...7872171&sr=1-1

but i have yet to watch it :(

That's the ultra crappy version (so the Internet says)

^ you are prolly correct, but that was the only legit r1 edition years ago when i purchased it. that said, from my limited research a couple of months ago (or whenever it was that i found out about the newer re-releases), every r1 release has issues: poor transfer, audio, edits, that fact of being a dvd-r, etc.

i have been curious about this too, so i was glad you posted it. but hmm... i figured this thread would get at least a few replies, being about an arguably significant and historical title by riefenstahl

Hopefully we hear more about that UK version and possibly the "Korean" release.

On another note, from what I hear the best version out is the criterion LD which goes for about $200 (and I can't even find anyone selling it for that price, not that I would buy it).

BUT it is apparently the censored version she made in the 60s, missing some minutes of footage.

One of my prized Laserdiscs. Sorry, I know that doesn't help. I seem to recall there was a German version that was decent. I think it was from Transit.

What is the scoop on the laserdisc? I can't seem to find any info online.

It's a pre-order for Dec 31, 2015.

Maybe they're trying to build anticipation.

I am convinced we will never see a propper release of this. I found a good deal on the criterion laserdisc. $32 shipped and it's in very nice shape. I have no LD player but I hope to find a way to get it copied to DVD so I'll have the best version possible. After all this is the only home released version approved by Leni herself, right?

Yes, and I doubt any future release will be approved by her....

Considering that the Criterion "Tokyo Olympiad" is out of print because of rights issues with the Olympic committee, I wonder if it's the case with "Olympia" as well.

They should release the version they released in Berlin theaters in 1938. In my view that's the only thing that would top the criterion LD. Anything else is a step down from the LD
