T.V. Series on DVD. [Do you buy series w/ cliffhanger endings?]
Did you ever have A favorite TV series that you wanted to own but didn't buy because the series ended with a cliffhanger? For me it it is Dark Angel starring Jessica Alba.

Welcome to the forum. Ambiguous thread titles are frowned on here, something more descriptive of your actual question would be better.
No for me. I find that the series finales that I make up in my mind are better than what the writers do most of the time.

From what I understand, the jury's out on that. There won't be another (even truncated) season, but there MIGHT be a 2 hr movie to wrap things up. At least that's what was mentioned when the cancellation was covered in some movie/TV sites. Nothing definite though. Even without a wrap up, I don't mind having the first 2 seasons on DVD, and would get the last two if cheap enough.

If I like the preceding episodes enough, I'm fine with ending on a cliffhanger - I prefer to know about it in advance though [not the details, just that it is a cliffhanger] so I can set my expectations.
Two extremes I can think of are Black Adder [not a cliffhanger] and Duckman [very much a cliffhanger].

I bought Invasion, Complete Series and really enjoyed it. I think if you stop part way through the last episode, there is an ending.. But am glad I bought it even though it wasn't picked up for another season... as I got hours of enjoyment from it.

Invasion and Surface were two shows that I very much enjoyed and was disappointed by cancellations before conclusions, but both are buys for me on DVD once the price dropped/drops.

Surface showed up at Big Lots previously and I picked it up then. So I guess that answers the OPs question for me. I had heard that the show didn't "end" but I went ahead and bought it.

Personally I never really considered "Dark Angel" ending on a cliff-hanger, just opening up to a new chapter in the characters lives.

4400 was like that. It ended with a lot of people getting powers. But I'm really interested in what happens next.

A real cliffhanger is the original V tv series. I still bought it because I liked the show. Terminator: TSCC is the same thing but not nearly as bad as V. That show ended on what could be considered part 1 of a two part episode.

The commentary on the last episode goes into great detail what would have happened during season 3. Well worth listening to if you ever decide to buy them.

Here is an idea: With the things they can do now days how about filming a series conclusion for release on the DVD in case the series gets canceled before it has A chance to end. That would be a special feature worth having.

I was also sad at Veronica Mars.... There was some Cliffhanger items in the last season.. and the VM: FBI pilot... Didn't address not 1 of em...

I enjoyed those two as well. Seemed stange to me at the time that they were both airing at the same time, and we havent seen something similar since. I bought neither on dvd, but I remember being somewhat dissappointed with the way surface ended in particular. But I havent seen it since it aired, so I dont remember much beyond Lake Bell.

Even though it hasnt affected my buying of the series, many would classify the ending of Angel as a cliffhanger. I personally think it is a perfect ending to the series

While it is a cliffhanger, there is a continuation in the comics, just like with Buffy. And it's all approved and looked over by Joss, heck, he even wrote alot of the Buffy season 8.

Agreed. There were some rumblings that they were trying to get a Veronica Mars movie off the ground. I would love to see that, but I doubt it'll ever happen...

One that I was really starting to enjoy was Defying Gravity... however since it ended early in the story line (not even a chance of a two hour wrap up) there's no way I'd buy the DVDs.
