Some anime WWII thing with robots? Have no clue of any but I'd be shocked if they didn't exist. That or some time travel movies where they go back in time during major historical events.

I really enjoyed this challenge. As usual, I didn't watch as much as planned, but I had a good time with what I did see.
Closed out the challenge last night with this and couldn't agree more. Absolutely loved it.
I had the opposite reaction to this one. It was a little long, but I was throughly engrossed in it the entire time.

Oh, great idea MP! I'm thinking that Voyagers or Quantum Leap or some other time travel series might 'count' for both, or at least some episodes. Been meaning to watch both of those anyway.

I'm 23.. Probably more the female aspect though.. my mom loves western's but she also grew up in a time where that was a major part of tv, wasn't something I grew up on or felt all that interested in, but I will definitely watch some more for next years challenge. (Well and actually according to a certain checklist site you aren't frequenting anymore I've seen 4, but don't really count The Searchers (which I watched for this challenge) to be the same sort of western as No Country for Old Men, Blazing Saddles or Brokeback Mountain).

23? The last girl that broke my heart was 23, and a little hyper. I will now get sad everytime I see one of your posts.

True, when most people think Western they think a drama set in the late 1800s with cowboy hats and gunplay. But like any genre, I like the variety found within. Pretty nice 4 film spread there, though Mel Brooks is very hit-or-miss for me and Blazing Saddles was more miss.

Too late to count, but I finished Where Eagles Dare. Not as good as The Guns of Navarone, but I liked it. The
was pretty rad.

I think we'll be a little less strict on SF films for July 4th. You can watch a SF movie that otherwise would count for History, like a time travel movie (even Bill and Ted).

I really like the idea of this challenge. I didn't get to watch as much as I wanted, but I hopefully will have more time next year. The mix is perfect and everything seems to go together. I mostly watched Westerns, but mixed in a war movie and a historical movie.
Has anyone listened to these Christopher Frayling commentaries on the Leone movies? Oh wow, they are fantastic! I would highly suggest even for non-commentary fans. He is a true expert. Very knowledgeable, interesting, and he has met a lot of the people (including Leone) who have worked on those movies. The Schickel commentary is really worthless now on The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.
I'll have to see if he has done any other commentaries. I haven't watched the special features with him in it, looking forward to those.

Christopher Frayling also wrote a terrific book about Leone called Something to Do with Death that is worth seeking out.
